Is an unsigned photocopy a letter from Johnson?
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher

Childish, puerile, and tone deaf. Exactly like Johnson and his cabinet of no marks. He's a disgrace to the office he holds.

He simply has no right to be there.

The courts will get to decide, I would say that it's clear Boris intentionally broke the law & can't be trusted.

Therefore his deal can't be trusted.

Bozo's "deal" has achieved turning the backstop into a permanent-stop that will remove NI from the jurisdiction of British regulatory alignment forever. I don't necessarily mind this, it's a much better deal for the people of NI at least, than the rest of us will be stuck with on lonely Brexit Island.

The other major change is to remove all reference to protection of workers rights. Of course these have been removed, the Tories have no intention of providing any form of employment security for the working classes post Brexit. In fact, their plans to turn the UK into an unregulated casino economy rather rely on workers not having any rights.

For all the middle and low income Leavers foaming at the mouth about being denied their Brexit, parliament has just done you a huge favour.

I can see it being regarded as contempt anyway. Any court mandated action followed by a "please disregard this" message would be.

However nothing will happen anyway, he's not going to jail, he has no shame and his fans will praise him regardless.

I genuinely dont know what we can do to uphold law, decency and democracy now we're in this state.

Hilarious, calling Boris "childish" when these same remainers placed a restriction on Boris forcing him to request an extension if we didn't get a deal.
Then - when we get a deal - rather than vote on it these same remainers put yet another obstacle in the way forcing Boris to ask for an extension before they even vote on the deal!
That's how scared they are that the deal will pass; they too have seen the numbers.

Well, remainers, you might well have won quite a few of the battles.
But for sure you've already lost the campaign.
The deal will pass and soon too, rendering any extension request irrelevant.
So you've not only lost the campaign but you've almost guaranteed your hated Boris another term as PM.

What would a signature on the letter do?

If the EU do not want to offer an extension, then a signature won't make any difference.

The Benn Act puts the control into the hands of the EU. It's up to them how things develop now.

Apparently it is. The letter from the Ambassador refers to it so clearly if the UK Ambassador believes Johnson wrote the letter then he would have done. The signed letter from Johnson refers to it so there is no doubt.

His puerile refusal to sign it just demonstrates that despite an Eton and Oxford education be does not really know the correct way to behave in such matters.

Is it any surprise remainers moan when Leavers cannot get their facts straight. The Benn Act requires the agreement to be laid before Parliament (Commons and Lords) and approved by each House. To date that has not happened.

Johnson's behaviour was puerile. He is representing our country and there are certain conventions that apply to conducting professional business including between nations. Signing formal letters is one of them.

Legally none but it ain't cricket. What next refusing to shake hands?
