    Or to rephrase it slightly:

Without the influx of immigrants one wonders what the Spanish economy would be like now.
The Brits mostly retire there, they buy homes and often small businesses too so I suppose without them Spain would be in even more dire straits. It still has the highest unemployment rate among OECD countries even though it's improving and despite over a million citizens moving away after the recession. There are empty towns and even empty airports. They have a very low birth rate so although immigration has been high it is now stalling, which won't help - and neither will the loss of British holidaymakers if Brexit doesn't go well for them.

Unlike British immigrant car washers and nail technicians who are obviously buying houses in droves as we all can see, helping our economy no end.

There you have it folks, the reason remain lost and continue to lose. They have nothing to offer but childish playground insults.

Indeed. It's an approach a radio pundit like James O Brien uses a lot.

I think the intention is to guilt trip people into changing their mind, but it is a risky strategy.

It could easily position people into 2 entrenched camps, and seasoned politicians believe the domestic repercussions from all this could run on for a long time.

The simple neutral answer is this. The moment you initiate a referendum with 2 potential outcomes, you run the risk of either outcome being selected.

There are no intellectual or morality criteria applied to those who vote. We accept the full range of imperfections amongst the voting public.

Some much of the Remain case for staying is based on pragmatism, I don’t think peope like yourself will ever understand that for many Leave voters this was an aspirational thing, a desire to be better than we already are.

That's very easy to say when you're a middle aged public sector worker with a gold plated pension....

Public sector is taking a fair share of the brunt of austerity. Even the value of those gold plated pensions is diminishing.

What a pity then that a misguided desire to be better than we already are should end in another recession, many people losing their jobs, an economy undermined by a continual move of UK based industry to the EU, a break up of the UK and a diminishing of our nation in the eyes of the world.

Pragmatism is what democracy is all about by for example recognizing that leaving can be achieved without impoverishing the nation.
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

Flybe goes I to administration, blamed brexit uncertainty and weak pound. Leaves a lot of business travellers to make other plans until the routes are taken over. That may have some economic impact, since the do aboit 8 million passenger journeys a year, the vast majority of them are suits.
I used them a lot to visit customers and suppliers, now I get to spend longer and pay more to do the same thing, good news for productivity!

I know someone who works for a barely holding on household name high street retailer. She said the moment the Brexit vote came in their costs just to land the same stock from Hong Kong and China increased by 15% because of the collapse in the pound.

Their suppliers swallowed some of it but they had to take the rest. It probably won't survive far longer in to this year and there are no buyers on the horizon. Until Brexit they were just starting to recover.

Yeah, oppressing half the planet and murdering them in their hundreds of thousands when they resisted doesn't count. Somehow.
