I haven't seen anything about the US supporting us in the Gulf on here. It really highlights our status to them too.
US: Capture an Iranian ship for us.
UK: Sure, on it.
<Iran captures 2 UK ships the following day>
UK: Can we get some help here?
US: No, you're on your own.
UK: EU, can we set up some kind of join defense force?
And people still think the US is going to do anything but shaft us?

Strangely it wasn't a Spanish warship doing the seizing even though they seem to especially like Gibraltar waters ..................
Any way, so maybe you can tell us what the EU are doing to help in this "tit for tat" farce that they the EU started?
Have the EU committed to a defense force as requested?
Or made any firm commitment?
Or have the EU apologised to the UK for putting them in this position because of their rules and sanctions?
Your beloved EU seem remarkably silent on a situation of their making.
Just like their silence regarding Crimea and the Ukraine or Srebrenica, when it comes right down to it the EU don't really like taking responsibility for their actions and especially the consequences to others.
Lovely philanthropic benign bunch that the EU are.0 -
Why should the EU apologise?
We are part of the EU and have votes on these matters and a veto.
No one held a gun to our head to do it.0 -
A hugely complex project facing some teething problems doesn't make it a bad thing, and it's actually quite impressive to get it fixed so quickly.
But if it had been a UK project which had experienced the same teething problems, you would have been in raptures telling us how hopeless UK scientists were compared to their EU counterparts.0 -
Now you've been corrected you know that it's because of EU sanctions rules that the UK seized the Iranian tanker.

We are part of the EU. Claiming the UK is a victim of an organisation it has been running is absurd.0 -

On the contrary, a project of this size is always going to run hugely over budget and have some issues. The EU isn't immune from bad project management.
Where the UK gets ire from me is when it outsources something to a private company with a terrible reputation, paying over the odds for something that'll never be delivered close to time. Carillion, Capita, G4S, that ferry company with no ferries and so on - we all know projects taken on by them will be a disaster and wonder why they keep getting handed contracts which'd never happen in the business world.
Our scientists are great, but a lot of them are European or will move to Europe once we restrict their ability to science by shutting them out of funding and co-operative projects.
I have no doubt we'll be able to produce a satellite system, but it's going to take much longer and cost much more if we do it on our own instead of splitting the bill with the other EU27.0 -

Heavens above. They aren't the brightest family are they? It's a good job UNESCO is based in Paris, if they were in NY like the UN one of the Trumps could think they are Honduran and try to deport them. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
