Brexit the economy and house prices part 7: Brexit Harder

Why are so many posts on this thread NOT about what will happen to an ordinary Jane or Joe on a zero hour contract.
On Brexit day 1 or even day 60 will they be better off or not.
Will they have more hours or less hours to look forward to.
Who can give a reasonable argument for Brexit and exstrapulate that 6/12/24 months forward for an ordinary working women or man.
I often wonder why they are in that position whilst part of the EU anyway as it is?
It is a UK decision and is not against any EU law, so nothing changes IMV.
But it could get worse employment law wise. Well when you look at the proponents of Brexit. Are any of those (in Parliament) stuck in a zero hours contract or whatever? Not on your nelly. Think about who Brexit will benefit, and there's your answer.0 -
Why would the EU leaders who all leave office in the next few months agree to damage their heritage by agreeing a long extension of uncertainty/ damage
I don't think I said they would actually. But they MIGHT if UK has some coherent plan, but they don't, never had never will. It is all brinkmanship.
So unless UK comes up with a serious roadmap there may not be an extension beyond 12/4.
That is UK's problem, not the EU's I believe.
And in saying that, I truly believe that EU really want some resolution here and will facilitate it if it is realistic. No one wants a No Deal Brexit, especially Parliament. How to square that off is difficult.0 -

Well UK has until 12/4 to come up with something hasn't it?
Otherwise it's a No Deal, and apparently no one in our representative Parliament wants. But what DO they want is my question?
Total shambles and indecisiveness IMV.0 -

Poses a huge problem for Eire (and indirectly the EU) if the UK crashes out.
Politicians know they will lose the trust of the people. FoM isn't even being discussed. Yet is one of the elephant's in the room. As with any Customs Union comes terms.
Switzerland is under similar pressure from the EC to accord to their viewpoint. Many consider the draft treaty a loss of sovereignty.
Seems as the EU is politically hell bent on a certain course of action. Rather than bringing about peace across Europe. As was it's principle original aim. Is doing totally the opposite.0 -

UK Brexit is UK led. End of story. And I am guessing that most of the EU countries don't really care TBH. ROI will be affected for sure, but that has been the British way for centuries, they believe that ROI is just a post colonial population of idiots anyway ha ha. and will bow to whatever UK say now. (I have Irish heritage and got an Irish passport now too yay).
The Swiss issue has been decided upon. Swiss thought they could get around the four freedoms (including freedom of movement of people) in their own way, but NO, you are either a member of the SM or not.
Good enough for them.0 -
Senior Tory figures accusing Oliver Letwin of acting in concert with Brussels tonight. The lengthy extension does have a feeling of inevitability about it now, let’s hope Macron follows through with his threat of blocking it. Something very appropriate about the U.K. crashing out of the EU at the behest of the French.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0

To be fair to the Irish, you have to be a bit idiotic as country to be still so closely wedded to the British internal market one hundred years after independence.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
Well if three years was not long enough to decide, why not extend?
Then it will be like elastic and there will be no Brexit at all.
Looking at the demonising of Dominic Grieve in his constituency really made me think !!!!!! is going on here?

Honestly, it is awful, and the thin end of the wedge really. We are lost now.0 -
