I'm sure the EU really value the UK as a member now .... not !
How many bridges does membership give you? And how quickly can you burn a bridge?
Money will talk I’m sure.
In economy size terms the loss of the U.K. leaving is the equivalent of the EU becoming a 9 nation trading bloc from a 28 nation one.
But hey, the ‘project’ must come first.:)“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
They'll see a star is missing from the EU flag,
UK's economy is larger than 15 of EU's smallest economies combined.
Over half of EU countries are net receiver of EU funds.
It will affect EU a lot more than just one star in the flag.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
He's talking about BRINO. We get to say we've left, lose out seat at the table and everything else remains the same.0

This is how the EU could end any uncertainty. Refuse any extension & force the Governments hand. Agree the deal, Cancel A50 or leave with no deal. No messing about with General Elections. No waiting for a second referendum. You have 2 weeks to make up your mind. Come back & tell us which it is. Job done.
There is a big issue for the EU with the U.K. leaving without a deal on May 22. That is the day before the EU elections. “They don’t want the elections playing out with chaos at the ports and all the other positives of Britain leaving the EU without a deal.
So IMO this is an impossible date. Better is May 15 or May 8th. Or even Aprill 12th,
This will be the big debate on April 10th in Brussels.

Maybe they are right, but someone is going to have to blink first pretty soon.
The curious thing is that there is NOW complete indifference by +99% of the public in the EU27 countrys to Britain leaving the EU. In fact many think Britain have already left and are making holiday decisions on that basis.
Yet there may be a huge 24/48/60/72 hour upset as supply lines are disrupted when/if Britain leaves without a deal.
What the EU are not going to agree to is that HUGE UPSET happening just before the EU elections. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
The EU will gladly fall over themselves to grant a 1 or 2 year extension, they're more frightened of an unknown future than any Brexit supporter. Why have one can-kicker when you can join forces and have 2?
I wonder why you are so certain the Present EU leaders who all change between May to July 2019 would want to grant a 1 or 2 year extension to article 50.
Do you think they give a Fuxx what happens after they leave office at the end of June 2019.There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
The worst thing that could ever happen now is an even longer extension
To extend the uncertainty would be devastating. Far better to just have no deal on April 12 take the pain and en get on with healing.
Pull the band aid off in one painful move then work on building trade deals, of which many are already in place.
Taking months more, or even years as some are suggesting will not only prolong the pain but make it much worse at the end of the extension.
It's going to be very very hard times for many, why not just rip the bandaid off no and then get over the pain instead of extending it and making it worse....
I am amazed at myself. 2/3 years ago I would/could never have agreed with this post.
I am a remainer. After June 2016 I often posted about the damage uncertainty about Brexit would damage the country of my birth Britain would do.
I never ever thought that the uncertainty would still be affecting or is that infecting Britain and its business infrastructure today April 2019.
I never thought I would be seeing this in my lifetime, but there it is.There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
No deal Brexit will not happen unless by accident now.
So leaving the EU will not happen in the way some thought it might.
I'm guessing Customs Union and Single Market myself. Yes we will have to pay for the privilege and have no say, but trade will carry on seamlessly, and we will have in fact left the EU and become a member of EFTA/EEA instead. Just like Norway without the +++++s!
What's not to like.
Anyway a long extension will mean that UK actually HAS to have a plan for EU to agree for that to happen. Place your bets now.0 -
Why are so many posts on this thread NOT about what will happen to an ordinary Jane or Joe on a zero hour contract.
On Brexit day 1 or even day 60 will they be better off or not.
Will they have more hours or less hours to look forward to.
Who can give a reasonable argument for Brexit and exstrapulate that 6/12/24 months forward for an ordinary working women or man. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

Why would the EU leaders who all leave office in the next few months agree to damage their heritage by agreeing a long extension of uncertainty/ damageThere will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0
