May is on her feet denying that her strategy has been to appease the Tory right.
Then she says that if the people have changed their minds it does not matter
Delusion instead of LeadershipFew people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

You have to feel sorry for someone who not only is no Margaret Thatcher, but is also no John Major.
I am guessing that the threat of a general election is to scare people into supporting her, but it may be seen as a way out of another two years of this.
Maybe the Americans have the right idea, separate the election of leader and we can put danny dyer in charge.0 -
Well from I'm sitting that's exactly what they are trying to do Labour are pushing to stay in both single market and customs union which is BINO and I know that will not satisfy the people I know who voted leave or along with others pushing for another referendum which they would not be if they thought leave would win. If leave win that referendum, which is a much stronger possibility than many remain supporters think, we will be right back where we are now.
Satisfying the people you know is not the objective, even if important to you and them
This is about doing what is right for UK. Remaining in the Customs Union and Single Market is not BINO. It does solve the backstop issue for Ireland. It is a Norway type solution which gives access to a huge number of EU trade deals but retains control over fishing and agriculture. More importantly it addresses the issues being faced by our economy. As Cable said this morning, economically we have a slow puncture but there is no point thinking that it will not become a flat.
But if Leave won a second referendum we could at least say the matter was closed. We could then proceed to being an independent little country that no longer has any influence in the world, a lower standard of living in a divided UK.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. It is claimed by some in the US that Trump was sent by God,even the WH press secretary

As an atheist my closest concept to god would be the big bang, technically you could argue that everything ever created was sent by that. So I agree on a technicality.
I don't think there was any intelligent thought that got Trump into the whitehouse.0 -
I can’t speak for them but maybe they haven’t stated it because it’s not the case?
I’m not a labour supporter but the blame for promising something that increasingly appears undeliverable cannot be put at their door.0 -
That is different from trying to change the result of the referendum, which is what was accused. BINO delivers the referendum result, if that is all that can be delivered then blame the leave campaign that promised unicorns to all.
No we won't, they'll have a mandate for crashing out. At the moment they don't.
Conservative support collapsed when Labour offered the customs union in their GE manifesto.
I already hear leavers complaining that crashing out wasn't what they voted for, it's only going to get worse. Not all leavers are so entrenched in their viewpoint that they're willing to ignore the consequences of it.
What problem do you think it solves?
You can ignore the referendum result and play lip service to if you want but I fully accept the result and would like to see a outcome that addresses some of the things they voted for.
If leave were to win another referendum and I can't see MPs behaving any differently to how they are behaving now.0 -

So you are saying we can be in customs union without FOM being subject to ECJ and able to make our own trade deals.
What was right for country was not voting for referendum and voting to trigger article 50 the damage has already done and the answer is to come to a reasonable compromise which unfortunately both sides are not prepared to do.0 -

Well I still don't believe you voted to remain in the first place, so you suggesting that you'd like to see us leave is no surprise. If leave were to win another referendum and I can't see MPs behaving any differently to how they are behaving now.
What you see is more about you than them. You may be right, but it would seem to be worth proving that. Not liking the idea of more democracy is another leave supporter trait....What was right for country was not voting for referendum and voting to trigger article 50 the damage has already done and the answer is to come to a reasonable compromise which unfortunately both sides are not prepared to do.
There isn't a compromise that could possibly work. We need what is right for the country, blaming david cameon and theresa may won't help.0
