I had a moment of weakness yesterday. Well 2 actually
. I needed a black ink for my fountain pen and got sucked into spending almost £25 on ink samples to get free postage. I then compounded this bad behaviour by succumbing to £30 of (lovely but entirely frivolous) stationery stuff on Etsy. Does anyone else find that once they buy one thing it becomes harder to resist subsequent temptations? Sigh. I have shuffled things in YNAB and will still be okay this month but I am really annoyed with myself.
Ebay is one of my weaknesses
I would buy something that I needed and then see something else and so on...
Getting much better at resisting tho
Have a grand weekend missusBUGGRITMILLENIUMHANDANDSHRIMP I TOLD EM! - Foul Ole Ron
It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

Oh yes!
On the back of our fantastic day out at the rugby on Sunday, I (well my friend and I) have just bought more tickets to the rugby in August (5 tickets!!!) - this in turn will require accommodation and travel too!The spending floodgates are well and truly burst open at the moment!!
Just jiggle your balances to cover your purchases and enjoy them! I am guessing the ink and stationary will last a while and will bring you a level of joy when you use them!start = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225

I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!0 -

Oh yes they do bring a LOT of joy and hours of pleasure in using them, I am a user, not a hoarder unlike my mum who would look at them then put them away unopened and forget about them for years before binning/gifting them.26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%SPC 2019 #073

For Starmummy and anyone else who might have bananas that need using.
3 ripe bananas, mashed well
1/3 cup melted butter/veg oil (I have tried both and can't tell so stick to oil)
1/2 to 1 cup sugar (I stick to the lower end. Any sugar goes really though dark brown is a bit stickier)
1 egg, whisked
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp bicarb of soda (I have used baking powder in a pinch but it is denser)
1 1/2 cups flour
Preheat oven to 350F/180C (reduce as directed for fan ovens)
Mix all ingredients in a large bowl until combined. (Like with muffins, don't over mix but make sure no clumps of dry flour.)
Pour into a greased, lined standard loaf tin
Bake 50-60mins until browned and skewer comes out clean.
Cool and serve.
It does freeze well and I suspect you could make muffin size cakes as well, though I haven't tried. It is a very forgiving recipe.26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%SPC 2019 #073

Plain or Self-Raising Flour?

Sounds good Lucifa
US, I'll come and pinch a slice of yours. I have a slight jinx on banana bread and muffins. I must be an excessive mixer. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I've used both Uncanny but tend to use plain. It really is that forgiving!

You don't need to ask me about stationary purchases
You will enjoy them so it will be worth it.

Feeling 'meh' today. Halfway through my notice period and just wish it was done already!:wall:
Things are looking good on the home front. It is probably fair to say I am not a natural born housekeeper and I struggle to find time/energy to get anything done after I get home from work (about 7.30pm at the moment) because I feel overwhelmed by how much needs to be done. A few months ago I discovered The Organised Mum. I kind of dabbled with it but then Christmas and laziness happened and it didn't really take.
Over the past couple of weeks I have taken a fresh look at it and finally committed to giving it a proper go starting this week. So yesterday I did my 15 minutes of level 1 tasks (beds made, hoover through main areas, a load of laundry and fly lady style swish and swipe in the bathrooms) and 30mins of lvl 2 tasks (Living room). Half an hour of effort was definitely worth it when Hubs came home and said the place looked lovely.
This morning I have made the beds (except Littlest's because I can't reach and couldn't face dealing with the nest of stuffed toys and duvet he likes to burrow into...) and put a load of laundry on so half my level 1 is done. Just need to do a quick hoover and swish and swipe tonight and do the 30mins lvl 2 in the bedrooms. Our room and Eldest's were done over the weekend so will focus on littlest's this week. Wednesday is hall and stairs, Thursday is kitchen (I'll include utility here too) and on Friday it is Lvl3 tasks (more deep clean focus). Lvl 3 tasks are on an 8 week cycle and this week is 'Outside spaces' which I am going to switch out I think and get the front lounge sorted. Hubs is in charge of the garden and enjoys it so I don't think we need a particular focus here. We have more rooms than there are days so I might have to tag on a day over the weekend to deal with the den and spare bedroom, at last until we are in the groove of things and it takes less time. Obviously there is a baseline expectation that we clean up after meals and are not complete mingers... Hubs has agreed to give it a go so will be helping which should mean our 30 minutes will go MUCH further than if I was doing it alone.
Hopefully we will see improvement in the state of the house. Currently we dread visitors because it means a frenzy of stuffing things out of sight and cleaning bits that get missed like the glass in the doors. My grandmother would be ashamed of me! Over and above this domestic godliness we have blocked out Sunday morning as a declutter time when we go through drawers, cupboards and cubbies to get rid of stuff and in the long run have the fresh, happy home we long for but haven't found a way to achieve.
I have, of course, made a tracker in my beloved hobonichi and will be ticking things off at the end of the day. I am sure you are all desperate to hear how it works out so I will try and remember to update in a week or two...
I shall leave you now and go polish my halo
