LOL tell him "ony mair o yer cheek an ah'll gie ye yer heid in yer hauns tae play wi!" :rotfl:

Scots is a great tongue and definitely the most effective to swear in as my serving mates will testify, the Sergeant of their unit is a fellow Glaswegian and can easily make everyone flinch when he lets rip :D

I wanted to give a heads up as I just got phished via text on PayPal - thankfully I phoned PayPal to check it out as it came in a text with a full mobile phone number at the top. The text said:

"PayPal:We have detected unauthorised access to your account. Please login at (URL) to unlock your account"

It was a really quick and easy call to PayPal to double check and get confirmation that my account has not been misused.

So having dealt with that wee security issue it is time to update for the weekend's shenanigans...

Friday I worked from home as I have been choked with the cold and it wasn't shifting. Didn't get much done and also spent nothing!

Saturday was a big cook in - was supposed to be having Burns' Night with friends but deferred by a day. I made !!!!-a-leekie soup, ghillie pie and sticky toffee pudding. I had great fun doing the making at a nice steady pace through the day and it turned out to be a really frugal meal!

    • I fed 3 adults and 3 kids a 3 course meal on Saturday.
    • We had leftover haggis, neeps and tatties heated up with a fried egg on top for Sunday brunch
    • We had soup and the last of the pudding for Sunday dinner
    • Hubs and I had the last of the soup for lunch today
    • I have 2/3 of the chicken left to make something for dinner tonight (thinking a noodle bowl)
    • The cat got snacks and is very happy

I am delighted with that as entertaining can be quite pricey and nothing left over.

Not much else to report really. I am feeling really under the weather with this cold so have been hibernating around about completion of essential chores.

Hope you're enjoying the last Monday of Jan 2019!

I used the traditional method for the soup (boiled a whole chicken with a mountain of leeks for the stock) and you only use a wee bit of the meat for a garnish so I have 2/3 of a chicken for tonight

    My debt free diary

Of the £788 left on the T MC about £500 relates to professional fees which Hubs will get reimbursed and £200 is home insurance which I will clear from savings and put back over a couple of months. I have added a budget line to YNAB so come renewal time we have the money set aside, though I would still use CC for points and just pay once the transaction is cleared on the app. The balance of the account is interest and the pet food bulk buys so again, that will be cleared form savings and put back over the next couple of months.

All in all, the balance shows purchases over and above the original debt which are covered so I have really paid the card off, albeit I owe our savings instead. Might reduce it to nil on the tracker? What do you think? I will clear it as I use it s(well as soon as the app lets me) so no balance will accumulate so it isn't really debt anymore is it? Just thinking out loud... What would you do?

Of course, Hubs has been added as a creditor as we used his savings to clear down T MC and I will pay him back over the course of the year, starting from payday in February. All going to plan, I will have replenished his savings by December, based on my estimated take home pay from the new job. (The new job is suddenly very close - I realised this morning that I can now see my leaving date at the bottom of the sidebar calendar in outlook!!!)
