Hi Redo,
Leftovers as follows:
Chop and sweat a small onion, add sliced carrots, shredded cabbage, a rasher of bacon and a generous tsp cumin seeds. Once all softened add cooked pasta, splash of cream and leftover chicken. Cook until warm. Eat. Then (optional) eat the half that was left over for the next day's lunch because it was so lush and feel like a bloated pig for the rest of the evening :rotfl:
You could easily leave out the chicken and add more bacon or even have chops on the side. Don't think cheese would work but it could take a flash under the grill to make some of the pasta go a bit crispy... Mmmm - might have to try that next time...26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%SPC 2019 #073

Hello Campers!
Not much to report chez Luc at the moment, just waiting for pay day on Friday so I can budget and officially shut down the overdraft. Once this facility has gone I will be without an overdraft facility for the first time ever since leaving home. I thought I would be nervous but it is actually really liberating.
Not used the CC yet since clearing it. Hubs tends to do the grocery shop and I think he has just forgotten. I shall remind him tonight.. Grocery shopping still looking good - came in under £50 this weekend. Will probably spend about £10 on milk, bread and possibly fruit top ups. We seem to go through gallons of milk but I am quite happy for the kids to have milk to drink whenever they like. Much better than fizzy drinks. Bread also disappears at an alarming rate and that is with Hubs being off it 5 days of 7!
I was good and brought lunch to work today (pasta bolognese with extra veg) AND teabags. Quite happy to pay 15p for milk and hot water . I did try bringing milk in but the fridge is always rammed full and when I tried a flask it leaked... It is working well - every 15p on my card for tea means 85p squirrelled away into the Christmas fund.
I usually meal plan on a Friday for Hubs to shop on Saturday. (He mostly sticks to the list). This week we have the schools off for the long weekend and Mum and dad are visiting Sun-Wed so I planned out further. the week after will be a stores raid as far as possible to get us to Friday. We usually need to do this to make the budget work after visitor extravagances/extras (e.g. Mum will only eat a specific danish butter at twice the price of our usual one and they take goat milk in tea (Bleugh!)). So the plan is:
Tues - chicken hot pot
Wed - Omelettes (I'll make a plan as I am not an egg fan)
Thu - pearl barley and chorizo soup (new recipe and used up last of cabbage)
Fri - pizza night! (we like to keep it simple on a Friday and the boys love their pizza and movie night!)
Sat:
Sun: Beef stew and root veg
Mon: Haggis pie (got a Chieftain half price after Burns night)
Tue: Baked meatballs and pasta OR leftover cabbage thing from last week
Should certainly be enough from that little lot to stretch to the Friday after!
So that is plenty of brain dumping from me.
Hi-de-hi!

So impatient for payday tomorrow - I already YNABbed my income and backed it out again twice this week! :rotfl: Tomorrow will also see the end of the OD. I am only £80 into my OD and 25 of that is reclaimable as travel expenses. Given I had maxed the £500 when I was paid on 11 Jan I am delighted with that
Between YNAB and my new salary in April I should never need an OD ever again (touch wood).
I'm still waiting for OH to cash in my coin bags. When he first tried the machine was broken and he has been so busy since he hasn't managed to go back. Hopefully today. I will draw the cash and put it in my pot as soon as I get it
Only other news is the half term weekend means (including the weekend) I have 5 days offI probably won't get online much but I will be back on Wednesday so be good while I'm gone!

Luc I confess if your Mum was my Mum I'd be smiling sweetly and suggesting that she could bring her own butter if she felt that strongly! :rotfl:

Had a great five days of family time and feel quite refreshed! Mum and Dad didn't come in the end owing to illness which was a shame but also money saving!
I got paid on Friday s the OD is now history :j and I have YNABbed everything and the month is looking good.
Lack of visitors meant we didn't need to do a food shop on Saturday and I think we can squeeze out the next three days with just a top up of bread and milk. The next supermarket sweep will be a big one though as many things are running empty, though we still have a good supply of proteins.
Not much else to report at the moment so will love you and leave you.

Glad you had a nice few days with the family, its a shame your parents never made it. Hope they are feeling better.

I had a moment of weakness yesterday. Well 2 actually
. I needed a black ink for my fountain pen and got sucked into spending almost £25 on ink samples to get free postage. I then compounded this bad behaviour by succumbing to £30 of (lovely but entirely frivolous) stationery stuff on Etsy. Does anyone else find that once they buy one thing it becomes harder to resist subsequent temptations? Sigh. I have shuffled things in YNAB and will still be okay this month but I am really annoyed with myself.
I'm working from home today which means I can potter around tidying between tasks. These days always seem so much more productive than being in the office! I have a load in the washing machine and the sun is out so may try hanging it out to dryFood plan for next week is done so just need to turn that into a shopping list for tomorrow.
Not much planned for the weekend. Possibly a park run tomorrow and a driving lesson. The rugby kicks up a notch as the southern hemisphere's Superrugby kicks off today so all life will be put on hold for any Sharks games (Natal, not Sale) as all three males are big fans.
I think that is it. Hubs gets paid on the 18th so looking forward to YNABbing that and seeing how far it will stretch.
Have a great weekend y'all
