I think it is high time those of us who can prove we provide meter readings every month were deemed exempt from this whole smart meter nonsense.  In fact, I think we should be eligible for exclusive tariffs open only to responsible people like us who do this.  Wakey, wakey, energy companies!

Sadly I don't think the energy companies care whether our meter readings are accurate or not. It makes no difference to them. So they're not going to put any effort into tariffs for us. They don't care about smart meters either; remember it's the government forcing them to appear positive about them. The level of customer calls they create must be costing them too. You can't phone up about a non-working IHD if you don't have one. For low users, a call to customer services will easily wipe out several months' profit for the supplier.

I replied to the text asking me when I wanted it fitted with “delay because you are lying to me”

(you have to give a reason!)
PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)

Talldave, you do realise my remarks were tongue in cheek, don't you?  Or were you just playing properly?  :D

Indeed,  but it raised a point that's of no interest to suppliers where many might think it would be!

Who knows?  Maybe some supplier will think of this... Or not.  Of course, they would rather we were all in credit to the tune of £000s, they would get the interest on it and it would help with their bad debts.  Teach me to try and lighten the mood, won't it?

Lightening isn't allowed unless you're wearing a mask and remain at least 2m from a smart meter ;-).

Well, since I have yet to succumb to the darned things, I will remain mask free in my own home, thank 'ee.  I will also take any opportunity for lightening of mood; I think we need it now more than ever, TD.

Hello, I've been contacted by E-ON to install their smart meters; currently I have electricity and gas meters fitted by the previous supplier (British Gas); I'm getting into home automation and I'm measuring the real time power consumption by reading the led blinking on the front of the electricity meter (every blink is 1 Wh); unfortunately I cannot do anything similar with the gas meter as it doesn't have that functionality

Does anyone know if the meters installed by E-ON have the blinking LED or any kind of pulse output?

I know this is a propos of not a lot but, in the hope Helena happens by, does anyone know what the cut-off date is for core group for the WHD, please?  I know it was 8th July last year but the excellent (now I'm leaving) e.on rep I just chatted with said they do not have the dates yet.  I was impressed he/she even knew what it is, let alone what core group is.  They sure didn't last year.

I don't recall seeing an official announcement. It's always been around the same date each year, but I guess if you're in the process of switching then a day or two can make a big difference.
