You're welcome Fozzie. Happy to help and only sorry it couldn't have been more positive news.

Malc,
I was disappointed - shocked, in fact - to receive two texts earlier from EON about smart meters.
One said "As part of your energy tariff you agreed to have smart meters fitted"; the other said similar.
Now that is basically just not true - as you confirmed to me at the time.
It's a disgrace that facts should be misrepresented like that. Perhaps you could feed that back up the line.
Cheers
Hello David_e and thanks for the feedback.
I've sent this forward. As in the quoted post, I confirm customers signing up for Fix Online Exclusive v11 only agreed to be contacted about smart meters. They can turn these offers down and stay on the tariff.
Thanks again David_e.

Hi Malc,
I've had two letters in the last four weeks telling me I need to have smart meters installed. Prior to this the last communication was several months ago. My father is in the same situation and has had three letters in January.
What is the current frequency of these smart meter letters? Can I expect to be bombarded by them now?0 -
It has been bought to my attention by Ofgem that apparently this behaviour by Eon is potentially in breach of conditions 0 and 0A of the gas and electric supply licences linked here:
https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/system/files/docs/2019/02/licence_guide_information_for_consumers_2.pdf
This states “ The Standards of Conduct contain enforceable overarching principles that are relevant across many supplier activities and licence guide themes. ”
Specifically in this instance about misleading smart meter communications is this bit ;
“ SLC 0 Standards of Conduct
Sets out general requirements for information provided (in writing or orally) to: o be complete, accurate and not misleading,”
Clearly the Eon communications are misleading and therefore I would suggest anyone who hasn’t already complained to the ombudsman to do so quoting this information , but also raise this to enforcement@ofgem.gov.uk as Ofgem should also be investigating this breach of supplier licences.1 -

Hello oliverbrown and this is something, along with our tariffs, that's being reviewed at the moment.
More details about both will be available once the review has been completed.
Sorry I can't be more specific at this time oliverbrown.

Thanks, I look forward to hearing the outcome of the review. I know we agreed to be contacted about smart meters, but I think E.on should avoid a frequency of communications that borders on harassment.0 -

I have had texts and now they have started giving me emails, its out of order.
Hello SeeMe and, as above, we've been passing on Forum concerns about the frequency and content of smart meter contact to those responsible.
I've added your comments to those already sent and being considered as part of the review I mentioned to oliverbrown yesterday.
Thank you.

Hi @E.ON_Company_Representative:_Malc
Considering switching from SSE to E.ON using the current v28 on offer on uswitch BUT it says smart meter may loose some functionality and it will no longer send readings back etc. I have a SMETS2 smart meter, could you confirm you can handle SMETS2 meters and the readings will be sent back to E.ON and the IHD display will continue to show details as it currently does or do i need a E.ON IHD?
Also, when I initiate the switch, do I get to choose a date the switch happens or will I just be informed of a date? Reason being my current contract ends 25th March and I was hoping to get my new contract to start on the same date so that next year I can look to get both my Gas 7 elec on a Dual fuel as I've noticed recently they are quiet competitive whereas previously there were not hence taking separate suppliers but I've notice my current gas suppliers prices are steadily rising it seems.
Does it still take approx 3 weeks to switch? If so i might have to wait until i'm 3 weeks away to get it moved at a date very close to 25th March.
Thanks

I want a smart meter from Eon but can't have one because I have a BG smart meter that became dumb when I switched to Eon and Eon won't change mine because it might become smart in the not too distant future.0
