I tried and tried to pay the debt off without having holidays as I felt it was naughty to go on holiday when you have debt, then I got lower and lower and lower in moods and started feeling like the kids were missing out (my mam used to take us to spain every year, on the bus, cos she couldnt afford the plane, and I loved it) so we went to tenerife last year and they loved it! I told myself we would only have one every 2 years, but I messed that up and went and booked cyprus for this year before we had even been to tenerife lol
My mam is coming this time too (she has no partner), she hasn't been on holiday since 2009 so she is super excited, and we have booked a massive 3 bedroom villaI cannot wait
And I feel like I have finally balanced the line between paying debt and going on holiday/having treats, I really do believe you can do both
I will only be going every 2 years though :rotfl: until the debt it gone (other than Centre parcs, I will do that every year, the kids have teacher training days on the end of the may hols every year so we are able to get the fri-mon holidays for the end of that week quite cheap and we all love centre parcs) xxDebt £30,823.48/£44,856.56 ~ 06/02/21 - 31.28% Paid OffMortgage (01/04/09 - 01/07/39)

Well a lovely sunny day today...although that lead me into a false sense of security as it was actually very cold when I went out earlier....
Managed to get in to see a dr, although not my normal one. We have about 8 GP's at our surgery and it's pot luck sometimes as to who you can see. This was a lovely lady dr, who has been there a while now, but first time I had seen her. She has given me some tablets to try and reduce acid as she thinks this may be the problem. Have to take one every morning on an empty stomach so we'll wait and see what tomorrow brings. As usual I have read the whole leaflet on side effects etc and was a bit dismayed to see that if you have Osteoporosis, as I do, then it can increase your risk of fracture taking these tablets. Will mention that to her when I go back as she wants to see me again in 2 weeks, if it hasn't cleared up. We did discuss other things it could be and things making it worse etc, like anxiety, IBS, my recent chest infection etc. She says holiday should be ok, but made a point of adding that she doesn't have a crystal ball....
So first lot of washing done and towells on the line
Need to clean the bathroom, sort some stuff out and then GS's coming after school.
Hoping for some time to get on the treadmill as well.
Nothing much happening on the finance front at the moment. None of the other bits I listed to sell have had any interest so far.
Have a good day everyone.:)DMP 2015 £57,549, now £36,112 (37% paid)

Hope the tablets work ok. You could speak to a pharmacist in the meantime if you are concerned about what the likely risk might be."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0

I know its naughty going away when you have debts, but I really think it will do us good. Hoping we make it, although TBH, I may try and gt in Dr's tomorrow. I suffer from IBS and the last couple of weeks have had some really bad symptoms and just want to make sure it is IBS and nothing worse. Been getting a bit paranoid about something happening and ending up in a Spanish hospital or something. Symptoms just seem worse than normal and dragging on such a long time. I'm sure its nothing, but I do find that as I have got older I worry more about things like this....don't know why.
Managed 20 mins on the treadmill yesterday and would have done more, but had to stop to get the tea. Not been on it yet, but hoping to have a go in a bit. Need to buy a new pedometer as mine seems to be rubbish and I am trying to keep a count of how many steps I do in a day and I think it only counts some of them.
Hi,
Personally I think holidays are a necessity, the difference I find now is I save for them instead of using the cc.... (well usually..:o) Hope you feel better soon.
I'm just putting my trainers on....

Just home from work and thinking of doing half hour on the treadmill as its pouring with rain and cold outside. Then I have a nice piece of salmon to cook for dinner. I love it when OH is on late shift as I can eat whatever I fancy and I LOVE fish
....especially salmon and I could live on it every day. He will eat it sometimes, but not as keen as I am and would soon get fed up if he never had any meat. I could give meat up quite easily.
Started my tablets this morning...only 1 a day to be taken first thing....and I have to say, so far it is definitely making a small improvement. The test will come after I have had my dinner as that has been making things worse. Fingers crossed.
Weather forecast is not good....looks like snow is on the way:eek:. Think I'll snuggle indoors if that happens...hate it!:(DMP 2015 £57,549, now £36,112 (37% paid)

I love Salmon, he has "gone off" it, he has phases of going off certain food, and it drives me potty lol xx

:rotfl: Yes my OH will go off stuff if we have it too often....unless its something he really loves, like junk food.....:rotfl: If we go out for a meal I always try and pick fish from the menu.
Well good day so far today, sun shining but freezing cold and the roads were very treacherous first thing when I went out.
Been to see my lovely therapist lady to have Hopi ear candles done, so hopefully my ears will be fine when we fly on Sunday. I suffer such a lot with ear pain and it really puts me off flying, but I find the candles do help quite a bit.
I've filled the car with petrol
Picked up my repeat prescription
Picked up OH's parcel that was waiting at the sorting office
Done a load of washing.
Now got to get some dinner prepared to cook later and a few things to sort out.
GS's will be here after school. Got them later today as DD has some after work training.
hoping to manage some more time on the treadmill. I only managed 20 mins yesterday....but better than nothing.
Enjoy your day everyone.DMP 2015 £57,549, now £36,112 (37% paid)

Lovely day at work today.:) I do love my job at the dementia day care centre. Lots of singing and games and quizes. It is a dreadful condition, not just for the person with it, but also for the families. But it is so nice to see them having a sing song and enjoying themselves and the families get 4 hours free time, not much but it helps. And if we could rund it for longer, we would.
Pleased to see that the weather forecast is now only showing a 27% chance of snow later, so fingers crossed it misses us all together.
OH's pay day today, he is paid weekly. So I sorted finances, moved things to savings accounts etc and found an extra £5 to pay off the mortgage.:T So that's £30 extra paid so far this year. All thanks to Jwil, as I would never have realised you could just do it on an ad hoc basis unless she had metioned it.
Just having a cup of ginger tea and now going to sort a few more bits out to throw in a case for Saturday. I have to pack for OH as well, as he has no clue, so it takes me twice as long and every time I have started doing bits lately, I seem to get side tracked into something else. I think mainly because until now, I wasn't 100% sure if we would actually be going and I didn't want to tempt fate. Luckily this is a chill out holiday so not to bothered what clothes I take. Nothing has to look too smart or anything, not like when we went on the cruise. No dressing up for dinner at night, as long as I look half decent. I am of that generation where it seems wrong to go out looking a mess anyway, so I do try to look nice....makes me feel younger....
So work tomorrow...at my other job, as long as the weather is not too bad. The shop is very cold, even with a heater and I hate walking in the cold, icy weather anyway.:( Apart from being worried about slipping in the ice, I don't want to get my chest cold again as I can feel it tighten and start to cough whenever I get cold. So as the job is only a casual, no contract self employed sort of job, I have told her that I will go as long as its ok, and she is fine with that. TBH, she keeps telling me I may not have the job much longer anyway, as she is undecided if she is passing the shop on to someone else, so I do feel that sometimes she is messing me around a little bit. I certainly don't enjoy the job, like I enjoy the other one. Much as I need the money...its £60, I have decided that I have to put my health first and just by making that decision it has helped me to feel better already and more positive.
So have a good evening everyone and stay warm:)DMP 2015 £57,549, now £36,112 (37% paid)
