i done the dublin (econ though) route 3 times...
All booked via bravofly (lastminute.com) rather than direct..... i believe it helps with not being black flagged given i miss the final leg.....

I remember the pricing, best one being in 2016:
DUB-LAS (BA to LGW, Virgin to LAS, LAS to LGW, LHR to DUB )
Cost: £99 each way + £87 tax/fee each way (said so on the ticket)
    awesome, just awesome!!! :D:D
Even when you factor in Uber + Prem Inn + McDonalds + Uber and then the flight in Dub, oh, and getting the right price Ryanair flight to dublin = still shed loads cheaper than flying from LON ! :)

All this talk of business class....

Is a direct return trip from London in September for £1710 a 'reasonable' price. (I realise that for some business is a waste of money, but I have yet to have the pleasure in trying it....)

As I already have a 10 days next month with a 2 childhood friends, a week in March 2020 solo and 10 days in June with the family, all in premium economy, I probably don't need another week solo just to justify business.... argh, decisions, decisions!

(Also a further question if I were to cave and book. Plane wise would you opt for the 777 or 747?)

Yep BA (from LHR and LGW atleast) still fly 747's daily....

Looking online they are aged planes although allegedly they will be getting a re-fit once all the A350's have been fully introduced.

Unless you are Silver or above it will cost you another £120 each to get a seat upstairs.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

    Is that BA or VS?
If either its a good price, usually thats £3K+. If it's VS (which is far better J than BA then take it now.

    but...............

If you want a really good business(J) product look at AA.

Go via Phoenix or Dallas and you get their 777W which is one of the best J products out there. Then it's just an hour to LAS

Go via Dublin to Philly or Charlotte and you are one the A330 which is just as nice as the 777 layout. Then the last 4.5 hours in domestic AA First which is a really nice recline seat and the FA's will really look after you, this is the flight we normally do. Priced it up for next May and we're looking at £1200 each.

And to answer your other question, Club (BA) on the 777 is not great, it's called the dorm for a reason. All Club seats are in one big section

    How does this work??
Just looking at prices for next trip and if I start from Dublin and fly via Heathrow its £450 is but if I catch the same flight but starting at Heathrow instead its nearly £800?
I have never caught a connecting flight before, what happens at the stopover airport? Do you stay on the plane or does the plane change?
What would happen if I "missed" my original flight from Dublin, could i just catch up with the plane at Heathrow?
This obviously has nothing to do with me living about 20 minutes from Heathrow :)

This is called flying ex EU to those that fly often and try to save money in Business class.

Firstly there is no APD from Irish airports.

Secondly BA likes to try and capture business from other EU countries by offering lower fares from European cities. We've done trips from Copenhagen, Milan and Amsterdam by finding the one with the lowest fare to where we want to go.

It isn't usually viable if you are traveling in economy because the £200-300 saving is eaten up by having to get to DUB, then a nights stay, then a return flight from DUB on your return.
Then of course the extra time involved.

But traveling Business a return on BA in Club (J) is in the region of £3K , maybe a bit less off season. I have never paid more than £1,300 from a EU city. so for 2 of us BA from London £6K, from AMS, DUB, CPH, we will be saving £3.5K.

I live in Nottingham so flight to DUB with Ryanair Friday so I don't miss any work, return for 2 with 2X luggage, about £200. Overnight in DUB or where ever £120 with meals and drink.
I'm still saving £3K and AM ON THE SAME FLIGHT AS YOU
