Forgot to mention earlier. They are building a Target where Smith and Wollensky's was. It is due to open Spring next year.

Also by that time the bridge across the strip from Park MGM to the hard Rock Cafe should be finished.

As mentioned earlier, there is an unbelievable amount of construction both sides of the North Strip, which was even more apparent from the monorail.

You can blame your fellow passengers for that. People said they would be happy to travel with hand baggage only if the fare was cheaper and the airlines responded. The problem is that some people are still expecting all the facilities of a full service airline at the same price as a budget airline and it's a race to the bottom. I cannot believe the number of posts I've seen from people going to Vegas hand baggage only. Not happening in my world. Like Stuie, a major part of our holiday is shopping so we always pay for an extra bag in addition to the "standard" 2 checked bags.

Pity we aren't allowed to give these meddlers a good slap. ;)
I've seen business people go to Vegas with a decent size case. One bloke we got chatting to while waiting to board (he was in the check in queue behind us) said he was only going for 3 days on business, but made sure that he had an afternoon/evening off in-between so he 'could go to Walmart, the outlet Mall and the Strip mall and fill his case up with all the bargains'
I reckon it's these folk who go on the booze ups that have demanded it. Nice one..........NOT!!
Shopping is also a big part of myself & Mr Dontone's trip (not that he will admit it, but he always seems to do better than me). Can you still get away with putting one empty case into another case so you don't have to pay for an extra case going there?. I know people on here have mentioned it before. Do you still attempt it?

Is that near where the giant Coke bottle/M&M place is?
If so, someone posted a video of it recently (I think I might have shared that one here)
I'm all for as many bridges as they can build. Crossing the road in Vegas is like the human equivalent of playing that '80's retro game 'Frogger'.
You also need eyes up your bum, especially with the taxi drivers. One saw a bloke in a very fetching Hawaiian shirt pound the heck out of a taxi cab bonnet because we were crossing the road and he pulled out on all of us 'cos he didn't want to wait.
The man was furious, and quite rightly so.

It is the .com / US site. I believe it's only valid on "selected" items, but as I'm won't be going before the end of the year, I haven't tried it.

Thanks Luci, tried it for Absinthe, but no joy :( Hopefully it will work for someone here.

We LOVE Ross Dress for Less and have been getting most of our shopping there since they opened the second branch on the strip. We have had some cracking bargains including Calvin Klein tops for $20 and CK dresses for $30,

    !
If you have a car the off strip ones tend to be even cheaper, best we found in June were at Arroyo Market square on South Rainbow just off the 215 there is also a Marshal here that had very good prices
We tend to hit a different Ross / Marshals every day of the holiday :-)

Ugh. That exchange rate is annoying... been delaying buying anything for a few weeks, and I’ve basically spent the last 5 days watching it fall further :(

Even more annoying is that I don’t even need the dollars because I’m not going America either!

    Depressing, isn't it?
Is that the lowest it's been for years? I remember seeing $1.25 to the pound, but nothing like $1.21.
I remember the good old days when we were getting $1.85 to the pound.:T
Then it all went booby-doos up :(

even 2.1 to the pound :D. this is the first time in 20 years I havent had a trip booked to Vegas

I wont be booking any time soon with the exchange rate so low, even with free rooms. I have always done vegas on a budget but cant do it at mo

I assume most on here use a clarity/starling/revolut etc to maximise the exchange rate! just under 1.22 at mo. if you were to go to Tesco its 1.19 !!

We go back to Vegas in October, and the rate is depressing.

But we had $1500 left over from the last trip...that along with 7 out of 11 nights comped still makes it worth going.
I can live with around $1.20ish for the amount we will still have to change.

Some of our early trips to the states were over $2 to the £....seems a long time ago now.

Looks like we will be visiting Ellis Island a little more than we might have expected, and having a beer or two at The Stage Door.:rotfl:
