I'm looking for Glasgow flights, just in case anyone happens to see anything. My next best option right now is a Thomas Cook out of Manchester at £500ish, plus luggage. Would rather fly from Glasgow though.
We had been considering doing monument valley, but other than seeing horseshoe bend and antelope canyon (which may also be sweltering in early September), I can't really get that enthusiastic about it. The View (apparently the best hotel) is well over £200 per night. I was even considering the KLM flights to LA, but the connections are a bit short going out.
That price with TC from Manchester is very low IMO - let's say I paid a bit more for mine!:mad:0 -
I booked up in the end a few days after my post above.
This trip is a bit more special in that this trip is both a birthday/anniversary gift and the person I am takings first time. I have therefore booked up with BA Premium Economy. £750pp seemed to be the best price for the direct flight. The extra luggage allowance alone will allow her to have a mega shopping trip though Thanksgiving/Black Friday sales!
Since booking the prices have never been lower. Right now they are around £120pp more. Massive fluctuations though with anything from £30 more to £450 more!
So glad I booked when I did, and realistically I will stop checking soon and get ahead with planning shows and hotels.0 -
Dannodw - that's a really good price for Premium Economy I'd say!
Prices seem to be high now. Wonder if they're prepping for an Easter sale. I'd book premium at that price! Did you book direct?0 -
what are peoples experiences of flying BA from heathrow to Vegas? This will be the first time we have used BA as we normally fly out with VA from Gatwick.
Are the planes as old and as bad as i have read online0 -

They still use the old 747 from Heathrow to Vegas. Best seats (and most expensive) in World Traveler are the exit row seats (28 B/C/H/J) IMO. The entertainment system is very old, take your own tablet with you if you have one.0 -
I travelled from Glasgow to Vegas via Philadelphia a couple of years ago but I probably wouldnt rush to do that route again. The first flight was on a really old plane with no entertainment system and obviously the second was a domestic one.
The only good thing is that we made a multi-centre trip and spent time in Philadelphia on the way home which is an awesome city. If we were only going back out to Vegas I'd only go direct or via elsewhere in the UK first.0 -

Having flown numerous times on the BA 747's although not on the Las route, I can agree they are now showing their age especially in economy.
Other than seats listed which will usually be available free to oneworld status holders or those willing to pay the premium I have found the rows of two at the rear of the plane to offer a little more comfort and privacy.0 -
I cant imagine they are any worse than the pre facelift Virgin 747s that did the Gatwick-Vegas route.
They used to be very old and tired but still got you there
Im not fussed about the IFE as i will watch my tablet or laptop and tend to only use the IFE for the Sky map.
One thing i do like about BA is the ability to pay for an upgraded meal.
Lets also hope they dont run out of drinks a few hours into the flight which used to be a common thing with VA as they had to save it for the flight back0 -
Just got back from Vegas using the BA to Gatwick route which they have now started up again. Not sure if the planes are the same on the way via Heathrow, but yes, Christ they are old!
If it wasn't for the fact the flight was pretty cheap I wouldn't have flown with them. IFE is ridiculous, have to bash the seat in front to get anything, and the screen was unbearable and pixelated.
They also ran out of decent alcohol after two rounds of drinks, and quickly turned into no alcohol. The seating costs of reserving the golden exit row were also expensive, and added another few hundred on to the relatively cheap flights. All in all, I'd be tempted to try Norwegians economy service next time just for a better flight.0
