There was a woman on the Wright Stuff who said it was possible to earn cash by waiting for deliveries or tradespeople in the houses of people at work. Has anyone done this? I think it's a good idea but the questions of advertising - where, and how much to charge etc is a bit daunting.
Anyone got any ideas?0 -

Wow, that sounds like a really good idea!:T I would love to hear some more info on this! It sounds relatively easy - there's probably a business that supplies this service, no?0 -

Hi all
My mum is looking for a job she can do at home. She isn't good with computers (that's why I'm writing this!) and she doesn't want to do any selling/collecting etc. She wants to do one of the sort of jobs where they send stuff to you to assemble or pack. Does anyone know of a list of genuine companies that pay people for this sort of thing.
I know the general rule is not to send any money up front, but beyond that I don't hve a clue who is above board! I really don't want to see her getting ripped off.
I have looked on the forums but can't find anything much except computers & chatlines, any help very gratefully received.

In that case there's probably not much else left. Envelope stuffing, assembly etc. are usually scams, so she should keep away from them. Especially if they want money from you.She wants to do one of the sort of jobs where they send stuff to you to assemble or pack. Does anyone know of a list of genuine companies that pay people for this sort of thing.
I doubt there are any these days. About ten years ago I looked into this and only found two genuine companies that do this. Both said they had a long waiting list and I never heard from them again.
Oddly enough one was a brush factory a mile from where I lived and my SiL worked in the factory. The work was assembling artists pain brushes and it didn't pay much at all. Although they said they would put me on the list and contact me when they had a vacancy my SiL told me they only ever let their employees, or ex-employees do home working.I know the general rule is not to send any money up front, but beyond that I don't hve a clue who is above board! I really don't want to see her getting ripped off.
Anyone who asks you for a fee up front is a scammer and you should keep away from them.0 -
thanks for that
mum used to do home assembly for a number of companies years ago, but i don't think those kinds of jobs exist now, its probably much cheaper for companies to get it all made abroad
at least i now have some back up on here to stop her wasting her time and money with rip off merchants
