I'll try to keep posting and not to be so self obsessed that I assume my stuff is boring (even though it is :))

I've just been through the many bags of toys we have had for the grandchildren. Two of them are in school now so we don't see them as often, one of those and her sister live 4 hours away, and so there is only one regular (occasional) visitor and she's grown out of a lot of stuff. I've still got several bags to keep but three are going to the charity shop, where most of it came from in the first place. Just hidden them in the shed so DH can't fret, he hates throwing things away.

I've done some hot water bottles tonight as it's supposed to be getting colder and there's a starry sky out there. That's all I plan to do today.

Hi everyone, another lurker delurking to say happy new year. I will try and post but am stupidly busy with work most of the time. Thanks to Valli and Natty for the ongoing effort that is the thread, much appreciated.

H2H made good progress, but I still have some long term areas of untidiness to sort.

Pollybear, similar issues here with exiting stuff that might be useful one day.

Monday - all done, including the ironing. Go me :p
Tuesday, pottered and cleared a few more bits. Sun was shining so brief mooch round to feed the birds and see what was flowering. Made me feel brighter, so thanks Natty

Back to work tomorrow which is when it will all start to slide back into CHAOS :o I need to re-find a balance again. Have been reading a couple of 'organised mum' books (free via kindle unlimited trial) which have helped.

  • Hi all

Let's keep this thread busy in 2019, I would be sad to lose you all. Have made soup and veggie tagine for later in the week Due to me refusing to cook again today DH and sons have been traipsing in and out of kitchen making food and I have cleaned the kitchen at least 12 times.

But it's tidy now. A little anxious about work tomorrow, will be fine when I get there. Want to get Christmas decs down and everything back to normal. DH wonders if he should go back to work tomorrow.. err well we have absolutely no money so I can answer that one.

Off to watch Luther, night all.

Please post everyone; I post far too much and mine really is inane and boring!
Today we managed to do a bit of pruning and weeding in the garden, much needed so I have made a sort of pledge to even do 5- 10mins each day it will make a difference. Like indoor flying, it's so easy to assume you need a lot of time to make progress then idlers like me give up before we've started.
Had a quick tidy round as mil coming for dinner. Certainly no decoration dismantling here; I love Christmas and it lasts till 12th night in this house. He-said a flagging flower arrangement.
Went to garden centre for free coffee and any bargains. Got a half price calendar as, unlike last year when we got about 5, we got 1 sponsored alpaca one which goes in my study and 1 commercial one which doesn't have enough space to write anything useful on.
    Nearly finished another report.
Rang a friend (how is that flying? I told you I posted rubbish).
Sought out a knitting pattern as I rashly offered to make Mr N a scarf as there's some wool left from his hat. No knitted birds this time though - ionafan how are the wise men doing?

    Enough, sorry, happy new year.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
  • Just waiting for the last load of washing to finish before hanging it up and heading off to bed.
Back to work tomorrow. Quite looking forward to it actually.

  • Another mostly sleepless night last night, so done nothing [strike]other than glare at the countertop full of packaging and uncovered bits of random junk food he likes, unwashed plates and other such detritus because somebody still can't cope with the concept of either food or kitchen hygiene[/strike].

Himself is now asking what I want him to go and buy for dinner. Nice to see that he's remembered that Humans Need Food, even if it's with the usual condition of him not having to think for himself about it [strike]and that it's technically breakfast, as he hasn't bothered with thinking about it until ten minutes ago[/strike].

I've asked him what is in the shop and, after a few moments of cogs whirring, he answered slowly that he didn't know because he isn't there. Another few whirrs and I think he might have caught my gist.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

No-one's posts are boring, everyone's contributing something by just being here. I'm as guilty as a lot of others in that I contributed bu**er all for months at a time during the latter part of 2018 and I'd be devastated if the thread disappeared. Sorry. Many thanks to Natty and Valli who kept going despite the fact that a lot of us didn't. This community is very important to me.

All loads of washing have been pegged out, lines full last night all brought in and tumbled for a few minutes to finish and then another lot put out this morning to bring in tomorrow. Is it the mark of a true !!!!!! that I pretty much always leave washing out overnight?

All rubbish put out. We're now the proud possessor of wheelie bins and I've crammed everything I can in the brown one which won't get emptied until Monday next week. I got the mini ones, and the only time of year we'll need a bit more space is Christmas when we host it. The neighbours used our recycling bin this week so they may be willing to lend us a bit of space in their brown one for next week. Hope so.

For the first time in 18 months my office looks relatively clear. I'd rather have the chaos with Kelpie back, but as that's not going to happen I'm going to try and enjoy the space. Today's the first day I haven't burst into tears every time I talked about him. Thank you everyone for your love and support. It made it bearable.
    Better is good enough.

Still busy dying of man-flu over here.. we are going to the outlaws tomorrow which I am as enthusiastic as ever about.. SIL been released from the hospital so I am quite looking forward to seeing her being more functional than she has been the last few years.. I'm also looking forward to checking on mil.. I am pretty concerned about her tbh.. I think she has a severe case of empty nest syndrome and feeling unwanted and unloved and useless.. which of course isn't true.. She's had a 'peaceful' christmas.. Dot will fix that tomorrow in approximately 0.0025seconds from us getting out of the car!

    So much snot!!! lol..

    Busy knitting christmas presents!!
