A full working day today, but I'd prepped tea last night so that was easy. I do have some daily jobs still to do, but hubby is watching the football at 7:45 so I'll do them then.
Hubby has announced he's going out on Friday afternoon so I will be able to take the decorations down then. He'll need to do the tree himself, but I can manage everything else.
Tomorrow I think is outlet shopping Pickle has crimbo vouchers to spend and hubby wants more PJs.Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)

Check the useby dates on stuff in fridge, double check your fruit bowl – do you need to get rid of anything furry or a funny colour? Done, and smoked salmon carbonara made the fridge dregs. A timely reminder as one of the plums was ready to walk round the bowl all by itself.
To me the key thing was always that the majority of your post should be at least vaguely cleaning/getting things done related, especially back in the days when we had mods posting regularly. That's why the diet/health/fitness thing was always Facebook rather than here. The thing I find challenging is that I haven't the time to keep up with posts any more and it feels a tiny bit rude to post and not read/respond.
wfh tomorrow so I must get the WM churning through the mountain that has accrued since NYE. My standard wash takes just over an hour which is great, hate leaving WM or DW running if I am not downstairs though so I will stay in the DR of doom rather than go and work in the study.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Have been doing little jobs here and there in between needing to rest.. Came out with a stinker of a cold NYE and as a result am struggling! Have to be at work for 2pm tomorrow so need to start trying to shake it off.. (Have been dosed up, lots of fresh honey n lemon, tiger balm applied EVERYWHERE, soup, soup and more soup)
Did manage 2x loads of washing, one lot is still on the line (towels) so if they freeze overnight tough..
Swept kitchen floor, done dishes, put recycling and rubbish out ready for tomorrow's collection.
Read a book, caught up on here and listened to some very nice music on my DS1's spotty account! :rotfl:
Managed to wash and dry my hair, now absolutly flat.. May give in and go to bed, want to wait till DS1 & 2 get in about 8.30pm or I'll not settle well.."There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇🥇0 -
Evening all, well we’ve had dinner. I tried a whoopsied pie from Aldi and I must say it was rather scrummy, definitely one I will be buying again.
Walked the dog when I came back from “work” this morning, we met up with a couple of other dog walkers and my Banji had a lovely run around with the two dogs. He came home totally shattered, and I was pleased with myself for actually taking him out as soon as I got home. :rotfl:
“Work” was okay this afternoon, luckily the problems from earlier had been sorted out. Plus I was home just after 5.00. Good job I was home early as DH wandered in half an hour later.. I wasn’t expecting him. Thankfully I had been preparing the veg for dinner and had washed up.I wake up a lot during the night so put loads on then. And switch the DW on, too.shirlgirl2004 wrote: »Amazed people are getting so much washing done, just put mine on cottons it's 2 hrs 40 minutes!
It’s ok you aren’t the only one shirlgirl, I can only really ever do one load of washing a day as mine washes for about the same although admittedly that’s with the extra rinse and prewash pushed in too. And it is only washed at 30 deg. Apart from bedding, dog fleeces, sofa fleeces, towels and t-towels they get washed at 90 deg.I feel that it doesn’t come out clean enough for me if it’s on a shorter wash.. I’m a little bit OCD when it comes to the washing.
Ok now I’m jealous of you all being able to dry loads of washing indoors – I have a continental airer and it only does one load at a time. Bedding, if it’s washed as well as the previous load, goes on the other continental airer. But I can really only dry one load in 24 hrs at a time.
Lamewolf you type gibberish honey, like Polly I like a bit of gibberish
I decluttered the veg box of all the furry stuff that seemed to be trying to turn into a new veg..lol
One load of washing done (white wash) and will be hung on the airer before bedtime tonight.
Car also has been filled up with petrol so I now have a full tank of petrol for the next fortnight.. :j
Monday - New Years Eve,a bit of everything!
Level 1
Remove all the bits and bobs that don't belong here - are you expecting guests and do you have adequate seating?
Rehoming - find a convenient spot and gather up all the new and existing items that need a home. Spend 10 min sorting into piles according to which room they will go to. Maybe pop them in old carrier bags and enlist some help to "deliver" them to the right homes!
Level 2
Dust and deweb all through downstairs
Sweep or vac too
Level 3
Wipe down all the kitchen counters and the sink
Extras
- Sort your laundry...
- Start the ironing! Sort it into 4 piles and do the first one!
- Treat yourself to something light and healthy for lunch - do you have time for HM soup?
Tuesday - New Year's Day
Just some bits and pieces for those in the mood, if not have the day off ready to start tomorrow. Remember to spend sometime with family/friends if you like that sort of thing.
Do a bit of light pottering, making notes of any little diy jobs for your Toots list
Declutter a drawer or shelf, or encourage someone else to...
Head out for a walk if the weather is suitable, or even just a wander round the garden - any gaps to fill this year?
Decide on a few healthy meals to introduce to the menu
Put those calenders up for the year.
Update calendar/diary with all those important dates
No laundry - don't wash away any good luck!
Make just one resolution - you can't change everything all at once! Or resolve not to make any
Write a list of 5 things you do that make you happy and 5 that make you sad. Ponder on how to do more of the first list and less of the latter.
Wednesday - Kitchen and Dining Room
Level 1
Wipe down your large appliances
Level 2
DR - wipe over the table - are you finished with Christmas linen?
Any other surfaces to clear / wipe?
Wash a window
Level 3
Back to the kitchen - pick a cupboard- empty it and wipe the shelves. Only put back what you need. Can anything be ditched?
Extras
- Any laundry dried today? Put away what doesn't need ironing and sort the rest on to your piles left from yesterday

Did my 10mins in the garden- cleared old tomato plants out of the greenhouse.
Checked and emailed a report and well through another one.
Gave some thought to meals, we have friends coming to lunch on Friday then hosting dinner for 5 on Sun for another friend's birthday. May do my latest easy pudding of clementine compote with yogurt , shortbread fingers to dip.
Renewed library books.
Went through emails on uni laptop, nearly all generic so I don't often remember.
Man coming to service range tomorrow.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -

Thankfully I’ve stopped much of the snottiness these anti Bs or indeed coincidence, I don’t care as I feel better than I have done in 2 months
A mixed day, meant to be back to it then DS1 got his appointment mixed up so I’ve spent more time at home than planned
Service plan for washer dealt with, they can’t call out until Monday apparently opened all apart from Christmas Day, !!!!!! if I had realised !! Got a back log OH has tried a temp fix so will give it a whirl tomorrow if not I’ll be laundretting on Saturday
Wouldn’t have been the Christmas holidays without an appliance breaking down here, as much as I usually hate service plans this one with Currys I’ve had my money’s worth as that’s how I got this sparkly new Ultima maybe they won’t fix this and I’ll get an even better one haha
Right food I’ve prepared for work to sort out then an earlier night I’m exhaustedOne day I might be more organised...........

At some point of the night, I cleared the crud off the countertops and unblocked sink again, plus stacked the washing up.
Slept 11am - 4pm. Himself did some washing up and cooked [strike]so it doesn't look like he's done anything[/strike]
He's made some comment about having to get 'me into a routine'. I'm not 2. But I am stressed about all the usual things (money/impending redundancy/homelessness/him not lifting a sodding finger to prevent it happening if it means getting a job, that kind of thing). Suppose from his point of view, if I can be trained to be so exhausted from work I crash into bed early [strike]and leave him alone[/strike], it's a result. I mentioned that I'm stressed and he wandered off to cook something without demanding instructions.
It's been extremely quiet here this evening.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
