Woo hoo, Luxury.
Enjoy your new smile (and lipstick!!).0 -
Hello Ladies,
Luxury Woman congratulations on completing the dental work on your teeth. The pain and expense will be worth it. Keep smiling. :j
LL thank you for the compliment about me looking good on The Chase.I am doing my best with my healthy eating and my daily exercise to look fab on my holiday. All the parts of my body that I am not over keen on will not deter me from having the most fabulous holiday in Jamaica in May.
On day 17 of my daily exercises I have only lost a single pound in weight but lost 7 inches over my body this week. I am very happy with those results.I am doing slow and steady as improving my health is a long term goal even though my short term goal is looking the best that I can on my upcoming holiday.
I am having a day of concentrating on getting all of the laundry done. I am also catching up on recorded TV programmes and my personal reading.0 -
 hello Everyone. So sorry to have been MIA for a few days. Thanks you all so much for your birthday wishes. What happened was I'd somehow accidentally unsubscribed from the thread (fat finger on my phone probably:o). I thought you were all very quiet. how wrong can you be!:D
I've caught up with the past few pages. Good to see you posting again pod and humpty.:)
So pleased for you that all the dental work is over luxurywoman. Hope you 'thaw' out very soon.:)
Some good news about weight/inch loss happening. I went to weigh at SW today for the first time in 9 weeks. Delighted that I'd only gained half a pound. I'm thrilled with that considering I've been on holiday and numerous meals out in between.
I eat carbs, especially chips and roast potatoes but I do have a fair few carb free meals, especially lunches. One of my favourites is a veggie omelette with salad or beetroot on the side. Another thing I do is to deliberately cook masses of extra veg with dinner and then have a bubble & squeak type lunch just frying up all the leftovers with some pickle and perhaps cold meat.
I had a lovely day on Tuesday despite Storm Gareth:eek: We went to the Leonardo exhibition as planned and then I had some lunch (tuna salad in Pret) and did some browsing in the city centre. I did buy a few cheap bits in Matalan and Primark but not sure yet if they're keepers. Will report back. My DD1 bought me the Jo Malone Grapefruit Cologne that I've been dithering about for ages.:D I'm out again tonight so plan to wear it for the first time.
On Tuesday we had the most delicious dinner in a local Italian. I wore the Zara maxi dress again. That really has been the best buy this year. Tonight I'm going to a country pub so I think I'll wear my culottes with an angora jumper.
Interesting article in my paper yesterday about 'one mile wear'. Briefly it was about the sort of clothes you'd wear at home or to go within a mile of the house such as to post a letter or buy some milk. Apparently now that so many people work from home (especially journalists!) it's a trend to be taken seriously. It got me thinking about how my attitude has changed since joining this thread. I now deliberately buy 'house clothes'. It's a sort of uniform of leggings and a long sleeved top but I feel really comfortable and it also means that when I change to go out somewhere I'm literally making an effort to choose an outfit. What do others do?:)0 -
Hello everyone.....
I have had a lovely day. Met my friend for coffee (we both decided we didn't want lunch) and then we mooched round the shops together. As I mentioned the other day she has met Mr Right Again (she has been widowed for 11 years) so she is looking for holiday clothes for a trip on the Queen Mary. (Wow!!!). I have to say it is lovely to see her so happy. This time last year she was in despair. Being bullied at work, overweight and throughly cheesed off.
She retired early, joined slimming world and lost weight, moved house and now has a second chance at love. All in a year.
Maybe there's hope for me yet :rotfl::rotfl: obviously lightning can strike twice. Ha ha.
Anyway we ended up in the cancer research shop and I bought two tops £1 each. Last of the big spenders, me. I am now "investing" in some smaller clothes, only from charity shops though. Don't really want to spend too much till I reach my target. I also stopped by the library and picked up some interesting books. I'm done for now. ..so easy Night, going to have some of the low point butternut squash curry I batch cooked yesterday. The freezer is now full to bursting point.
LW. Well done on the teeth. I bet you look and feel wonderful. You have spurred me on. I'm going to make an appt for a consultation and see what can be done with mine.
Maman. Sounds like you had a lovely birthday. Was it the Leornado drawings. I saw some several years ago, I thought they were exquisite. I bought some prints from the gallery and I had them in my bedroom for a while.
Today I saw some gorgeous light fittings but at £375 each (in the sale!!! :rotfl:) I won't be buying them. So I have just been sketching out ideas on how I can copy them. It should be easy enough.
I too have designated at home clothes - mainly leggings or if its cold warm joggers with a loosish top. In summer when it's really hot I waft around in long floaty maxi dresses or skirts.0 -
Sounds like you have had a good day LL
Sometimes you can find just what you want when you are just browsing. Maybe you remember that when I was losing weight I only bought from the CS. It wasn't just going through the sizes but I tried out colours too. When I was fat I just seemed to cover myself up in black.
Yes, that's right about the Leonardo drawings. They belong to the Queen's collection and they have been split up around the country for the next couple of months. Then they're all being put together for a summer exhibition in London and Edinburgh. I think one of the mini exhibitions may be near you.
In our gallery they had one room of the Leonardo drawings, one of other artists from their own collection showing how artists practise drawing arms, legs, faces etc before doing a large canvas and then a third room of drawings by a local man. I love galleries. I feel I'm learning but also it's very peaceful.0 -
So pleased for your luxurywoman. I dread dental work!
Hoping the wind dies down a little and we get a bit better weather.Enjoy your Friday everyone0 -

That is very interesting!
I have a uniform of leggings and dresses but there are some dresses I wear if I'm being local and some smarter dresses I wear if I'm going into central London. I didn't ever really think about that.:D0 -

That is interesting, one of my grandchildren is a talented artist, he is dyslexic and struggles with that and art is where he excels. He'd love to see those drawings. I will try to find out if there is anything local.
Just checked, nothing within 100 miles of us! There is an exhibition in a city where we have family so I'm thinking maybe a visit at Easter would be nice. He will be so excited if I can organise it for him so thank you for the information.0 -
Hope your mouth isn't too sore today LuxuryWoman.:)
Shame there's nothing near you humpty but combining it with a family visit is a good idea though. I checked and there is an exhibition in Derby LL.
I asked one of the assistants how they managed to get this exhibition and apparently the Royal Collection chose them. I know there are rules about security, light and humidity but other than that I think it's just a geographical spread. Our art gallery has been busier in the past few weeks than the rest of the year. It's a shame that so much of our national heritage is based in London. Good excuse for a day out though.;)Wednesday2000 wrote: »I have a uniform of leggings and dresses but there are some dresses I wear if I'm being local and some smarter dresses I wear if I'm going into central London. I wonder if we've still got this 'for best' notion in our heads. I'm weaning myself off this both with my clothes and beauty products. The article did recommend a cashmere cardigan/coat as a possible buy for nipping to the shops. That's a bit OTT (just a bit;)) but I am buying things I genuinely love and using/wearing them. It's a bit of Marie Kondo, a bit of cost per wear and also because I'm worth it!:D
We had a good time with our friends last night. Food was delicious and good company too. I'm having a quiet day today with nothing much that I have to do but food shopping. Lunch and theatre tomorrow is the next fabbing occasion.
Tried the Clarins beauty Flash Balm this morning LL. I hadn't realised it had some colour in it. It certainly makes me look less washed out. I'll use up the 15ml 'freebie' (from a gift set) I have and then decide whether to replace.
It's dry and dull here. Have a good weekend all.:)0
