I thought I would give you all a quick update on me. My job just wasn’t working out for lots of reasons. I love my team, but my boss, although lovely, was actually very difficult to work for. It was affecting my wellbeing, so I resigned, but luckily, I found another job right away. It’s only temporary, but i like the idea of temping for a while to get some new experiences.

Getting back to fabbing, here are a few of my favourite things:

Wet brush - I have curly hair and only brush it when it’s wet even though many hairdressers will tell you not to. I had heard good things about wet brush and found them in tk Maxx for under £5.

Lipstick Queen Frog Prince - this lipstick is green but reacts to your skins PH to a shade that is supposed to be universally flattering. It’s great for people who aren’t confident when choosing lipsticks.

Uniqlo heattech/airism - these thin layers are great to keep you warm (heattch) or cool when sweaty (airism).

Body shop camomile oil cleanser - I have problem with spots and this cleansing oil seems to work really well with my skin. My spits haven’t gone, but my skin is looking better.

Scented candles - I have maman to thank for this. I never really ‘got’ them, but I bought one and now love them. I got a couple for Christmas which I am enjoying.
  • Moll I have a facial recognition issue and I sometimes struggle to place people. I can recognize voices, often out of context but I have learned some coping strategies. Years ago if i had to return change or a meal to a person i would note what they were wearing. I have often gone into a back away from a customer for two seconds and not recognized who i was talking too, especially if they are of the same age, similar hair and gender. I reconize people by shape, stature and very individual features I regularly get names muddled and know some people my whole life and will muddle up two brothers. Giving descriptions are a nightmare as total blank. Imagine trying to explain that to the police looking for someone, can describe shoes but zilch, nada blank; an empty circle where a face is.

I have learned to be highly diplomatic as it is my fault and my issue. People don’t understand and get offended as I need to meet someone many times before i recognize them. I have learned to have a conversation without having a clue who i am speaking too until i place them. I have always had this issue and have learned to adapt. Moll the man might have had developed this issue recently possibly stroke or something. Let not his issue impact upon your self worth or all the work you have done. I would be devastated to think that that my lack of recognizing people really hurt them.

I have exactly this problem and didnt recognise my mum once when she was standing beside me. Can be very embarrassing.
All that clutter used to be money

I am glad I am not the only one with these issues but it makes life difficult. However, nobody is perfect and all of our skills and abilities are on a scale of dire to excellent. I always think everyone has a weakness. It is our variety that makes everyone unique.

Its one thing after another with my health this past couple of weeks, I think its this same flu/cold virus that's going round it metamorphizes (oh theres a big word) I'm told. So today it went to my stomach...lovely. I wasn't confident to leave the house so got off my backside and started a bit of tidying. I opened a drawer in my room and found a pair of curtains I had forgotten about. Now...a few months back I was in Ikea and always look in bargain corner, I got one of my sofas from Ikea and always thought after a while I would buy a new set of covers when the originals got worn , lo and behold I found a set in bargain corner in a pale blue colour for £30 ! The curtains I found are practically the same colour and also have tones that match my wallpaper, what a result. I changed the covers but need help getting the other curtains down and new ones up DD will be getting a call tomorrow. I'm well chuffed.
To fab myself the hairdresser is booked, I'm getting a back and neck massage before it, and also getting my makeup done for the first time ever, just hope I don't end up looking like a drag act lol.

    Good morning lovely ladies....

Yes, the spam post was someone trying to sell something, I forget what it was now. :rotfl:

Teedy sounds like you have been in the wars a bit. Hope you feel better soon. Some great Ikea bargains there. Re the house. I guess it depends which is most urgent but always remember faulty electrics can kill. Depending on how bad the roof is you might get away with a patch up job.

Chanie...I'm sure you've done the right thing about your job, no point in being miserable at work if you can do something about it. A nice little break will be good too. I'm sure you will find what you are looking for. Temping can often be useful and can sometimes lead to the perfect job.

Anyway went to see Colette. I really enjoyed it and I thought Keira Knightly stepped up to the plate with a very strong performance.

I popped into a chazzer and picked up a black beaded evening bag. £1.99 so well pleased with that.

Started using the dermologica and my skin feels better already. I think I will add evening primrose oil capsules to my regime too.

Going to tackle my kitchen cupboards today......;).

It's bright and sunny but feels nippy. I'm going to wrap up and go for a walk later, try out the library. I too like reading but funnily enough rarely read fiction these days. Having seen the film I'm quite tempted to try reading one of Colette's novels. ;)

Moll, You sound brighter. Keep up the good work.

Have a great day everyone, keeeep fabbing.

I agree. The report button isn't placed very well IMO.

Glad to be of some help chanie. It's given me a reminder to self to use candles more often. I lit them a lot over Christmas as it looked festive but haven't bothered much since although I have plenty in stock. The perfume is lovely (much better than an air freshener;)) but the glow is cheery at this time of the year too. I can't remember if I posted about the LED 'candles' I saw in a NT property over Christmas. They had them in amongst the mantelpiece garlands and the table settings. They'd obviously done it for safety and economy but it looked good. it's an idea I'll copy.

Good idea to take a break from the job. Hopefully you'll find something different that suits and with any luck that offers flexi time. Enjoy your break when it comes. :)

Thanks for not gloating LL but I expect your DS is a happy bunny this morning.:):footie:

Glad you got your hair sorted moll and very mse too. You're on your way!:D

I'm another that always takes a look in the Ikea bargain corner teedy. We had lots of bits for our Billy bookcases and fitted wardrobes from there. My other favourite buys are the velvet cushion covers for the big (50cm square) cushions. I, too, have Ikea sofas with covers. I don't think I could trust us not to have something washable.:o DH did suggest I should buy a spare set in case they get discontinued.

It's glorious here although chilly. We're off out with friends for lunch and we'll have a lovely drive through the forest to get to a country pub. I've decided to wear my black Zara culottes with opaques and black suede boots and then a pale pink Red Herring angora jumper. DH said I look really nice.:) I'll be doing my make up as well. It's been a busy week so this will be the fourth day for foundation/tinted moisturiser which I don't really bother with if I'm at home or just nipping to the shops/out for a walk. It certainly makes me feel more groomed.:)

Meant to say humpty that I'm glad you managed to get out for lunch earlier in the week.:)

Although I don't belong to the official thread I am trying to use up toiletries and make up products (mainly so I'm left with just those I really love). A shampoo was finished yesterday and I'm on the last bottle (more is coming tomorrow:o) and I'm almost out of toner. The ones I've been using up came 'free' with Clarins gift packs or offers. I find they make my skin feel fresh and remove any last traces of make up that cleanser's missed. Does anyone else use toner? Any recommendations?:)
