So pleased you got your new laptop sugarbaby . I envy you having your son as a personal advisor. We've recently bought a new desk top and been forced into Windows 10. I hate these 'upgrades' as they always seem to lose facilities that I need.:(

Sorry to hear about the frozen shoulder LL . I've had it myself in the past. I'm suffering with my back. I've been out today so laid off the amitryptiline so I was less sleepy but still taking the painkillers. :(

We've been out for lunch with friends and then to a matinee today. I decided that smart casual was the way to go so wore my White Company blue jeans with a pink angora jumper. It felt appropriate for the county town we were in.

I have some paper work to do tomorrow but I'd like to get out for a walk if I can. We'll see how my back is as I'm hoping to go dancing 3 times this week. :D
  • Maman, my new laptop also has Windows 10 and it will take me quite a while to get used to it. It is good to know that if I get stuck, my son will be able to give me advise. :D I am expecting to get stuck a lot :rotfl:

Sorry to hear that your back is making you suffer at the moment. I hope your back improves soon :)
  • I'm going to drop off a donation bag to the charity shop tomorrow. I had to add that nice Debenhams navy maxi dress as it is too big on me now. It's quite annoying as I liked that dress as it was good quality.

I will take a quick peek in the £1 charity shop and also look for a new mascara in Superdrug. :)

I might look in Boots too as I never look there.

    wednesday sorry to read about your reaction to The Ordinary products. Can I ask you a couple of questions;

    1) were you using any direct acids? I think you are supposed to build up using some of them, until your skin gets used to it.

    2) many of the products can’t be used at the same time as other products. I noticed you said you bought buffet. This can’t be used at the same time as direct acids in case of a reaction. There is a table on The Ordinary chat room which shows all of the conflicts. I think buffet had loads of conflicts. The goods news is that you can use the products at different times. When I emailed them for a routine, they suggested buffet in the morning and an acid in the evening.

No, I deliberately only used one at a time and only was using the buffet in the morning and my normal one in the evening. I even watched a YouTube video about the products first.

My skin is back to normal today, I didn't even bother to wash my skin last night to leave it alone. I just splashed water on my face.

I'm going to apply a very thick cream I have tonight to try and put more moisture back in.

  • Good morning lovely ladies...

Still here, still hanging on, just. Shoulder and neck giving me gyp. I'm resting it but trying to keep it moving iyswim. Important not to let it seize completely. So using a heat patch today and doing my exercises the physio gave me.

One thing is for sure - I will not be painting any more beamed ceilings. My son came on Sunday and said they looked fab. They do, but it's not worth penny pinching and making myself ill. I have finally learned my lesson, to accept my limitations with a good grace.

And of course, a course of physio costs more than a decorator ......:rotfl:

Hopefully it won't come to that and provided I do the exercises and take appropriate self help measures I should be able to avoid seeing the physio again.

Maman.....hope your back feels better soon.

Dropped the car in to the garage this morning, so today is decision day. Whether to get it repaired or sell it.

Bright and sunny here but chilly. Sub zero last night. Still much better than all that rain. I quite like crisp cold winter days, it's the endless grey murky days that get to me.

    Anyway enough typing......

    Hope everyone's ok.

I read that quickly as you'd been swimming!:D That's not as daft as it sounds. When I had frozen shoulder I realised, by accident, that some gentle breast stroke on holiday seemed to improve things. I mentioned it to GP (who was on the point of suggesting cortisone injections) and had physio instead. It really helped.

Maman.....hope your back feels better soon.

I've made an appointment with the GP for this afternoon. I haven't had this problem since January and it generally clears up in a couple of days but not this time. I just want to know that I'm doing the right thing, taking the right medication etc. We're going to Amsterdam on Monday so I'm hoping it'll be better or at least I have enough painkillers etc, to take with me.

I have been making a bit of an effort with fabbing. I think we're now really into winter weather. I was out last night and wore a jumper again. :)

We're out for a meal on Thursday (DD2's birthday coming up) and I'll probably wear a dress. I know Wednesday has recently bought some thermal tops and IIRC sugarbaby bought some last year. I picked up a black one in Peacocks and it's great for layering. It's close fitting and long enough in the body and sleeves and it looks great underneath things as it's plain rather than lacy like a vest. They only do black and white in Peacocks. It's be great if I could get some other colours.

I'm hoping to go dancing tonight if GP says it's OK. I find distraction helps when I'm feeling unwell.:)
  • Hello Ladies,

Maman yes I did buy some Marks and Spencer long sleeved thermal heatgen t-shirts from eBay and once again I am layering them with a jumper or cardigan on really cold days to look streamlined while keeping myself warm. I also wear them on their own under my coat on milder winter days. :)

Yesterday morning, I woke up full of energy and with my Arthritis pain at a manageable level, I started to clean my bedroom. :D It is going to be a long job, as I know it is not wise to push my body too hard. I will do what I can each day until I have completed my whole bedroom. :)

I am decluttering as I go, so I am taking bags of items to the local charity shops. My daughter also put together a bag of items that she no longer had any use for. :)

Was it something like this you bought sugarbaby?

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Marks-Spencer-Womens-Long-Sleeve-Heatgen-Thermal-Top-New-M-S-Warm-Scoop-Neck-/151963577398

What I like about these is the range of colours as so many 'vests' only come in black white or 'beige'._pale_

Great idea to clean and declutter as you go. I find it therapeutic and when it's done it's so much easier to keep it straight when surfaces are clear. Interestingly MK is coming under some criticism in the press because she's selling 'stuff'. She started with storage boxes which is fair enough but now she's branching out into the very sort of thing that people are clearing out. Porcelain chopstick rests is an example. I have to confess that I have some of those.:o

Today's fashion page is mainly about elasticated waists! Before you rush off to buy M&S Classic range, it's not quite that. :D They have those rugby style joggers which can be very comfortable and also floaty dresses that have shirred waists .

For party wear they're still featuring long, pleated skirts. I'm pleased about that because it's a look I like. I have a black chiffon one and a green satin. They can be worn with a jumper and boots or with a strappy top depending on the occasion.

When I get back from Amsterdam I will have to look in the city centre (or the CS) for something for parties. I could do with a sparkly cardigan or jumper that would look good in a restaurant or somewhere where it's not warm enough for strappy tops. Who knows I might find something when I'm away. When I was in Budapest I bought myself 2 tops from C&A! I just couldn't resist going in to see if it was the same as ever and I know they have branches in Holland.

Is it just me that's slow using up toiletries? I know I'm very mse:money: in that I insist on using every last drop but I just don't seem to get through them that quickly.

Interesting about the fashions Maman, yes I read that elasticated waists were the "thing".

Now that the weather has turned nippy I'm layering up too, aiming for warmth without bulk. I am trying to combine warmth with glamour, Russian/Scandinavian style. I haven't dug the (fake) furs out yet but I have started wearing boots. And I have been meticulous about wearing gloves. My hands really suffer in the cold so I am being extra careful to avoid split cuticles. They don't sound much but they are actually very painful so I'm being good and wearing gloves when I go outdoors.

It Definitely feels like winter is tightening its grip. Cold here but bright and crisp. I like days like this and I enjoyed a walk in the winter sunshine earlier.

Shoulder a little easier, a combination of rest, heat patches and physio exercises. Managed a mini yoga workout this morning, definitely helps.

Well done on the decluttering SUgarbaby. I found now that I've got everything under control it is much easier to keep on top of things. I think time spent Decluttering and getting organised is time well spent.

I still have to do some tidying in the attic room. I do have quite a lot of treasures that need sorting and I need to make some decisions as to whether to keep or sell. I've done all the clothes it's mainly bric-a-brac now paintings, porcelaine etc.

Might leave that till the new year, just have a quick tidy up for now.

Time to cook dinner, and crack on with some hand sewing, currently altering some curtains to fit the dining room.

    Keep warm, and keeeeeep fabbing.
  • Hello Ladies,

Maman, yes it was that style of top, I got 2, 1 in a lovely rust and the other one was pink. I also got a lovely black one with sheer bodice and sleeves embellished with black velour spots which makes a great evening top on a cold day while keeping me nice and warm in elegant fashion. :D

I woke up energised again, so I did some more cleaning and decluttering in my bedroom for 3 hours. I plan to continue tomorrow morning. There is even more space in my bedroom already and it was not cluttered, but now I am prepared to part with items that I have not used but are in excellent condition so are good for donating to local charity shops. I am donating a pair of Van Dal knee length brown leather boots, a navy Van Dal fascinator, a pair of boot shapers, An Osprey navy leather large handbag and a new boxed single size inflatable bed.

    Good morning lovely ladies....

So tired this morning....was awake half the night. No reason, it just happens sometimes. Have been reviewing this year......

I have been rereading bits from the original threads, back in 2011. where does the time go. :rotfl:

I have to say how shocked I was rereading how difficult my life was back then......especially the time when I was caring for my husband full time and trying to find a good nursing home, dealing with social services and care agencies, struggling with debt. It was a truly horrible time......the worst period of my life. Thankfully it's over. Whilst I am not thrilled to be a widow and I still miss my husband dreadfully at least our ordeal finally came to an end and we were both set free.

As for me, well I do feel better but I don't seem able to recapture my energy and vitality, despite losing weight and getting my blood sugars under control. I still have a lot of pain, issues with my back, shoulder and neck. I wrecked my body and it still hasn't fully recovered.

So ..........thinking ahead to next years goals that is going to be my top priority. I am going to pull out all the stops to get fitter and stronger. I need to make exercise and strength training part of my routines.

Shoulder not too bad this morning, the yoga and the heat patches are definitely helping. Just need to keep at it and gradually build up again.

Managed to get the car repaired yesterday. It was very simple and only came to £74 so once again the car has been given a reprieve. I'm glad really - it gives me a breathing space.

Window man coming today and tomorrow... nice new triple A rated windows should make a huge difference and make the house a lot cosier. I will run some errands whilst he's here, get out of his way. Find somewhere warm......might even pop to the cinema and see a film one afternoon if I've got time.

Need to book a haircut.....can't believe how much it's grown.

Not long now ladies till Christmas. I won't manage to shift that last 7lbs and hit my final weight loss target by then but I'm happy enough. I am pleased with having lost almost 3 stones this year. I look and feel better for it.

A good job well done I think. :D
