Hope all the poorly ones feel better soon.
Well it's wild here......and absolutely lashing down. I am so glad I didn't go out. The wind seems to be finding every gap, nook and cranny. Can't wait to get those new windows in. I got those trees staked up just in time.
Anyway I have used my at home time wisely. Making good progress with the kitchen cupboard sort out. Going to have a break later.
Chanie - Hope you feel better soon. I will be having a sofa afternoon too. I'm currently watching The Gold Digger on IPlayer so I'll curl up later, nice and cosy and binge watch. It's very good. About an older women and her younger lover. Is he genuine or just after her millions. A dilemma I will never have to face. :rotfl:
If I do eventually meet someone new at least I will know it's me they want and not my money......:rotfl: (not that I'm on the hunt:eek:)
I was going to venture into the attic room later to do some tidying but I don't think I'll bother. Far too cold up there, it can wait. Out of sight out of mind. :rotfl:0 -
Sorry to hear you're under the weather chanie. It seems so unfair when you've got a week off.
Good to see you both back posting lucy and sft. I think we all fall off the wagon at one time or another but not giving up completely is the answer.:)
I've got disk pain in my back. Fortunately I've not been bothered by it for ages but the only way to see it off is to take amitriptyline and co-codamol together. It makes me feel very sleepy so I'm another who won't be moving far off the sofa today. It's a shame as I'd normally go out for a brisk walk with friends today.
I plan to sit and knit while watching TV. I've got a number of programmes recorded so I'll have a bit of a catch up. I enjoy knitting but don't really want to wear hand knitted jumpers so I do more crafty bits. I'm covering some wooden coat hangers as I think covered hangers are much kinder to clothes.
I went back to the GP for a follow up since he diagnosed IBS. I've tried a food diary but can't seem to isolate what causes it. I'm feeling much improved but he recommended I try peppermint oil. It has to be worth a try.
Thanks for the film reviews sugarbaby. I really hope we can fit in the Good Liar while it's still at the cinema.
It's dry here, although a bit misty, but I think the rain is on its way. My brother had snow last night in South Wales, just a dusting but enough to stay indoors as he lives on a very steep hill.0 -
I had a check up at the dentists today. The dentist recommended I see the hygienist, but otherwise said my teeth are in really good condition. OH needs £800 worth of work on his teeth.
MIL needed £20,000 worth of work. She went abroad in the end, but it still cost £7000+. I told OH that it was really important for us to look after our teeth going forward as we are both in our 40s and our teeth can only get worse. If we take care of our teeth and deal with any problems early, we can hopefully avoid big bills in the future.
I have been thinking about getting a side hustle that will see me through my retirement. In the workplace, I’m seeing more people in their late 50s onwards, who are knackered but can’t afford to stop working. I’d like to start a little business which can provide us with enough money to live on, but flexible enough to enjoy retirement. I dont have any ideas, but it’s certainly in the back of my mind.0 -
Hello Ladies,
Yesterday I went to Streatham Odeon to watch the film Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. I used my Odeon Limitless card to buy my ticket.
ODEON says...
Discover what it is about the Mistress of Evil, and her fellow Disney Villains, that make them the 'wickedest' of them all!
The years have been kind to Maleficent and Aurora. Their relationship, born of heartbreak, revenge and ultimately love, has flourished. Yet the hatred between man and the fairies still exists.
Aurora's impending marriage to Prince Phillip is cause for celebration in the kingdom of Ulstead and the neighboring Moors, as the wedding serves to unite the two worlds.
When an unexpected encounter introduces a powerful new alliance, Maleficent and Aurora are pulled apart to opposing sides in a Great War, testing their loyalties and causing them to question whether they can truly be family.
I really enjoyed this female centric film with Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning and Michelle Pfeiffer playing very strong leads. This film has so much action with great special effects and a character led storyline that is fun to watch. I would give this film 9/10
I got my £140 Warm Home Discount payment yesterday from my energy supplier. I went to a main Post Office with my passport and had the money added to my Electric Key. :j:D:T
I had to buy my new laptop because this one is giving me so many issues and is slow in operation so I felt too frustrated using it. I bought my new laptop from my Catalogue, so that I would not have to pay for it in one payment. I never allow my savings account to go lower than £2,000 and this purchase would have pushed it to under £2,000. I will pay for the laptop in 2 payments. It should arrive in a few days and I am really looking forward to receiving it.0 -
I feel better now the house has warmed up as I had been feeling freezing. We have three heaters on in the living room now. My black winter coat has been used a lot this week. I don't think I even wore a coat once last winter.
I like The Ordinary serum, the only thing is that is blends in so quickly that you have to make sure that put it on your face before it disappears.
I went through my wardrobe again and have another bag for the chazzer. I haven't lost any more weight this week but it must be inches as my pyjama bottoms are practically falling off me.:D
I realised I forgot to go and look around the charity shops in the richer area around here so I will do that one day next week.I had a check up at the dentists today. The dentist recommended I see the hygienist, but otherwise said my teeth are in really good condition. OH needs £800 worth of work on his teeth.
MIL needed £20,000 worth of work. She went abroad in the end, but it still cost £7000+.
OMG!
Actually the friend I met the other day told me she had needed £10,000 on her teeth. Luckily her husband is very rich!0 -
Haven't gone awol. I've got a frozen shoulder, so can't really type.
I'm reading along though.0 -
Hello Ladies,
LL and any other ladies who are not feeling well, I hope you all recover soon. Do not forget to pamper yourselves
Yesterday I went to Odeon Luxe Haymarket to watch the 2 films: Midway and Official Secrets I love watching films in this Odeon cinema as all of the seats are Luxe Recliners. I used my Odeon Limitless card to buy the 2 tickets.
The 1st film I watched was Midway ODEON says...
Midway recreates the tide-turning World War Two battle. Here’s why it’s simply unmissable...
The Japanese raid on Pearl Harbour during the Second World War was the greatest intelligence failure in American history. But a follow-up attack was foreseen: the battle of ‘Midway’.
The American navy may have known the attack was coming, but they were still underdogs with an undermanned fleet. Up against an overwhelmingly powerful adversary, they fought a decisive battle that would be a turning point in the War.
Ed Skrein, Patrick Wilson and Aaron Eckhart star in ‘Midway’, a spectacular war film about one of the most important naval battles in history, from the director of ‘Independence Day’.
War films are not a favourite of mine, but this one, based on true events, really won me over. I think it was that despite some truly gory scenes of war, it was about lots of different, very strong and memorable characters both American and Japanese that kept me riveted on the unfolding action. I would give this film 9/10
I watched Official Secrets next:
ODEON says...
The true story of a British whistleblower who leaked information to the press about an illegal NSA spy operation designed to push the UN Security Council into sanctioning the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
One day in 2003, in the lead up to the Iraq War, British intelligence specialist Katharine Gun receives a memo from the NSA with a shocking directive: the United States is enlisting Britain's help in collecting compromising information on U.N. Security Council members to blackmail them into voting in favor of an invasion of Iraq. Unable to stand by and watch the world be rushed into war, Gun makes the gut-wrenching decision to defy her government and leak the memo to the press.
Keira Knightley does a very impressive job in the lead role in this film. There is a lot of tension in watching the impact that being a whistleblower has on Katherine Gunn's personal life and the toll it takes not just on her, but also her work colleagues and her husband. I was captivated by this true story. I would give this film 9.5/10
I have bought all of my Christmas presents for my 4 adult children, my 4 grandchildren and my 4 sisters.the last week of November I will get them all wrapped and post the presents that I will not be able to deliver in person.
I am really starting to look forward to Christmas now.0 -
I'm not feeling very fab. I woke up in the night and looked in the bathroom mirror and nearly screamed. I got a reaction to The Ordinary serum. My face was covered in angry red blotches. Hmm, not a good look!
I have just been drinking lots of water and put on a lot of foundation. My husband said he couldn't tell at all as he got up after I did my makeup.
I will see what he says when he sees me without makeup later.:o
I have just been tidying up my house a bit and putting together another donation bag. The Ordinary products can go as well as I'm not risking using any of them again!
I am just staying in today and watching series 2 of Jack Ryan. I put foot cream on and my fluffy socks. I'm going to do my nails and put on hand cream while I'm watching the show.2025 GOALS

wednesday sorry to read about your reaction to The Ordinary products. Can I ask you a couple of questions;
1) were you using any direct acids? I think you are supposed to build up using some of them, until your skin gets used to it.
2) many of the products can’t be used at the same time as other products. I noticed you said you bought buffet. This can’t be used at the same time as direct acids in case of a reaction. There is a table on The Ordinary chat room which shows all of the conflicts. I think buffet had loads of conflicts. The goods news is that you can use the products at different times. When I emailed them for a routine, they suggested buffet in the morning and an acid in the evening.0 -
Hello Ladies,
I am now using my new Dell Inspiron laptop. I set it up by myself with advice from my younger son who is a real tech head:j
Wednesday it is a real shame that you had a reaction to The Ordinary serum0
