Frump to Fab 2019 - Here We Go Again

Yes, I have gained a couple of lbs too. My own fault, but I was so hot and uncomfortable I just grazed and didn't eat properly. Never mind back on it now.
Builder cancelled at the last minute.. Bit frustrating because I had cleared the space in readiness, he's coming back on Wednesday so I'll just live with it as it is. So I got busy and did a bit more sorting and my ironing.
Going to clean the fridge and then, as it's raining, I'm going to go through my WW friendly new recipe books to get some fresh ideas, making a note of any herbs, spices or ingredients I might need. I definitely need to shake up my meals, the hot weather proved that.
Not going out this evening so I'm going to indulge in a bit of beautification........give myself a skin peel, mani and pedi.
After a week or so not going out much, I'm ready to sally forth again....my diary for next week is filling up nicely.. The weather will be far more conducive to getting out and about ......low to mid 20s is about perfect for me.

It is actually still a little muggy despite the temps having dropped so much. I will still take that over the record breaking heat, haha.lessonlearned wrote: »Yes, I have gained a couple of lbs too. Yes, I did exactly the same. One day all I ate were three veg pasties and an ice lolly, not a very balanced diet.:D0 -
Glad you're having a good time chanie. Good to hear from you.
Pleased that it was only a temporary reaction to the heat Wednesday and didn't spoil your concert too much.:)Random comment.....I was watching a video of Boris going walkabout in Birmingham yesterday, and realised it was outside my hairdressers! :rotfl:
At the risk of making fun of our prime Minister, perhaps he should have gone in for a hairdo!:rotfl:sugarbaby125 wrote: »Maman I finally asked my son and his accommodation is all year round.
I'd have said in the past that it was unusual but I think it's becoming less so. We have a hall of residence at the bottom of our road and many of the students are still there. Many of them are Chinese so they don't go home and instead use it as a base for travelling in the holidays.:)
It's pleasantly cool here. It rained during the night and early this morning (how sensible is that;)) and now it's lovely: 22 degrees and sunny.
I've been wearing my loose dresses while it's been hot. Yesterday, I called into our little Coop and the assistant complimented me on my dress. It was the green spotty cheesecloth one although I think it was as much that I looked cool as the actual dress itself. Nice of her to make the effort though.:)
Well done on getting yourself dolled up for your meal out elf. It really is worth the effort. I don't wear much make up at this time of the year but even a little makes a difference.
At last, we have a date from the plumber! He's coming on Monday week. Today I've been out to finalise all the fittings with the bathroom showroom and choose flooring. I've just got to buy a new light fitting but that doesn't need ordering so no urgency there.
Next fabbing opportunity is my summer dance class on Monday. I've plenty of suitable skirts but I've been avoiding them as I've hated anything tight around the waist.
I'm feeling a bit thinner today for the first time since my holiday. My appetite was fine despite the heat (I think I'm just greedy:o) and as I've not been out to eat since last Saturday I've been able to cook healthy food which seems to have helped.:)0 -
One of mine is a nurse, when they were at uni all the health care students and foreign students who didn't go home went into "summer stay" it was one of the halls that stayed open and they all moved in there. The nursing students only got 4 weeks off in the summer and I suppose the other NHS courses were the same or similar. They all seemed to enjoy it, a move around, living with new people and the campus was all theirs.
They aren't nursing now, decided they could do more for their patients by moving into management and now has quite a senior position but does miss the actual nursing sometimes but not the shifts.
We had about 3 drops of rain this afternoon and I thought we were going to have a downpour but that was it.0 -
I've been eating really badly, too many cakes I'm afraid although I'm not worried out about weight I know it isnt healthy. I have been eating loads of fruit as well so maybe that is balancing it up a bit. I'm right of meat.0

Is it Autumn already...... what a climate we live in. No wonder we Brits are obsessed with the weather. To misquote from Forest Gump....."it's like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get"......although thankfully the Met office forecasts are getting pretty accurate these days.
So......going to nip to Aldi for a few bits and then have a nice at home day. Do a bit of sewing and I need to look at comparing energy providers because my fixed deal ends next month. A bit of a faff ....Life used to be a lot more simple. I do find it tedious at times to have to be always shopping around. And often there's little to choose between them all anyway. Service ain't wot it used to be. Lol.
I can think of better ways to spend my time. Hey ho, needs must.
Was a bit naughty last night........a few years ago I spotted a gorgeous umbrella when I was in Barcelona but I balked at the price and didn't buy it, thinking I could treat myself back in the U.K. when I had some spare money. Of course I regretted it because I was never able to source it.
Well last night I was browsing, as you do, (fatal of course) .and I found it. So I have splurged. It's is a lot of money (well I think it is - £44) but As well as being suitable for rain it also offers 90% protection for UV rays so maybe not so bad after all.
Ok so I'm justifying myself. :rotfl:
It's a belated birthday present with love from me to me....(in my husband's name). He would have insisted.........and it will be a nice way to commemorate the 5th anniversary of his death.
Maman..... how exciting about your bathroom. It will be worth the mess and upheaval.
I have already lost a lb so nicely back on track.0 -
Morning everyone..
Horrendous rainy weather here, and I have to pop out to do some shopping, yuck!
I've been out and about this week, though I didn't go to the walking group on Wednesday cause it was just too hot!
I spent yesterday fabbing the freezer...lol...well, batch cooking a load of healthy meals so it's nice and easy when I get in from work.
Today is about fabbing me, so a bit of a defuzz, a hair mask on and I'll do a face mask and my nails when I get back...and a load of moisturising I think.
I'm all about quality over quantity LL
Have a great day everyone0 -
I don't think that's extravagant LL. Funnily enough we were having a conversation in the week about parasols. We see them a fair bit locally because of the Chinese students but I'm sure they'll become more popular with everyone as the climate changes.
Good luck with your switching of utilities. I always use the advice on here to help.
I'm delighted that the bathroom's going to be done. Not only will it be good to have it all new and shiny but at last the dripping shower will be gone! Aside from being irritating, it's so wasteful. I'm also hoping that when it's done it will spur us on to do more in the house and garden. I think DH and I must be the worst procrastinators ever.:o
Good to hear from you Frankie. I'm sure that batch cooking is the way to go. I find it invaluable to have some HM ready meals in the freezer. It's not just for when I'm busy but it gives flexibility to meal planning. I always add a frozen meal in and then if plans change and we eat out then I can just roll it over. I'm sure it helps to avoid waste too.
The weather is still really good here: 23 degrees and sunny. I've changed the bed (again!) today. I took the opportunity to sort out my airing cupboard too, While I was hunting for more white pillowcases, I took all the bedding and towels out so did a bit of a tidy up and a stocktake. As we haven't used a duvet this week I didn't use the matching pillowcases so everything has been white. I find that's restful and cooling in itself.
Usual cooking a roast today:drool:. I might get back to decluttering too as while the weather is good I can't use the excuse that it's so hot that I don't want to move.:D0 -
I have been asked about details of the umbrella, because of the UV protection it offers. I'm sorry I'm hopeless at putting up links but heres the details...in case anyone else is interested.
I found it on amazon. The company is called Von Lilienfiled. They are extremely colourful. Mine was £43.95 I think and is multicoloured with a mainly turquoise background and features cats. :rotfl: it's fun, I love it.
I'm sure if you just go on Amazon and do a search you will find them. I nearly went for the pink one but decided I like turquoise best. There are some gorgeous designs, very colourful. I was also tempted with the traditional "Le Chat" design, you know the one from the poster. They had Van Goghs "Starry Nights" and all sorts.
They are all great fun but you know me and cats......
I actually found it because I was in fact looking for a parasol.
As you know I've had skin cancer (luckily a very mild non dangerous basal cell carcinoma, not a malignant melanoma) but after this week I decided a parasol wasn't a bad idea.
I do have a folding umbrella which also offers uv protection but I really wanted a traditional "stick" umbrella because I find them more robust, especially when it's windy. It is also automatic in that you can operate it with one hand......allegedly. I'll let you know.
Von Lilienfield also do folding umbrellas which are cheaper, around the £15 mark but I really fell in love with this one that time in Barcelona and have been lusting after it for some time.
Well it's 16C. Here - that's a 20 degree drop in two days.....crazy weather. It's stopped raining so I'm off out now.
My shoulder and knees are really bad today. Maybe the sudden change in the weather, think I'll book a massage. I'll try and use my personal massage thingie but trying to do your own shoulderblade is a tad tricky.
I really need a live in partner.......:rotfl: maybe it's time to take a lover.....lol.0 -

Oh, how funny.:) I have the peacock feather version in that range.
Oops, just saw I bought that from Amazon in December but haven't used it yet. I always go for my black or leopard print umbrella.
I should use that one next time.:cool:2025 GOALS
