    Good morning lovely ladies.

What a terrible night. I have a splitting headache, despite trying hard to keep up my fluid intake throughout the night. Hopefully the next few days and nights will be more comfortable.

The only time I have ever felt this bad was in the Amazon and in the Everglades. :rotfl: How awful must it be in continental Europe. I don't envy them one bit.

I am going to give myself a deep cleansing face mask this morning, I feel so sweaty and horrible. Definitely going to strip the bed too, after last night, even though I only did it a couple of days ago. All that perspiration.......I shudder to think of the bacteria on the sheets, even if it is my own. :rotfl:

Hopefully back to the low to mid 20s and a bit of a respite.......
  • We have really mild winters where I am so we don't get as hot as inland in this weather but don't get as cold in winter. It can be too windy in stormy weather so I suppose it is a mixture of good and bad. I do like it here, we've been here 20 years, but I do find July/August a bit of a nightmare as everything is so busy, particularly the roads.

Our master plan in semi retirement was to divide our time between Spain and the U.K. selling our family home and moving closer to the coast. The Spanish apartment was also on the coast. Alas all my hopes and dreams died, along with my husband. Bereavement is certainly a real game changer.

Hey ho.......as the old song has it "you can't always get what you want"....."but sometimes you get what you need". Maybe this IS the way I need to live now. I am close to family, friends and I have a good support network.

I wouldn't consider buying abroad again, not on my own but I might be tempted to take on the occasional long term rental.

I do love Derbyshire, it's a beautiful county, and the city itself is definitely "up and coming".;) It's very cosmopolitan for a city it's size (quite small), a population of around a 1/4 million including the 'Burbs' :rotfl:

I think one day I might perhaps be looking at an apartment in the city centre or one of the satellite towns that I could just lock up and leave for a few months each year.

Who knows what the future might hold. Just need to keep an open mind.

All I know is it's coming up to 5 years now since my husband died and I still haven't been able to decide on how I want my life to be. Without sounding maudlin nothing is the same and never will be. I guess I'm still looking for my Ikigai - my purpose in life. ;).

Well I road tested the new handyman this morning, got him to put up some new fencing and an outside tap. He was pleasant and efficient and fairly priced so I'll use him again. Got the builder coming tomorrow. He is great but always so busy that I have to wait ages for him. So a good handyman for the smaller simple jobs would be ideal.

Need to empty and prep the dining room/kitchen ready for tomorrow, it's going to be a messy job so I will more or less empty the space as much as I can.

I have had nice little play in the lounge this morning. Whilst cleaning I made a few changes, switched rugs, lamps, paintings and a couple of ornaments, raided the garden for some flowers. It looks nice and fresh, although if you look closely it clearly needs decorating and the sofas are looking a bit worse for wear. But obviously I won't do that until I have done the fireplace and window. Again, dirty jobs.

I'm a glutton for punishment. It's all a lot of work but at least it keeps me amused and occupied. Gives me something to focus on for now. Travel and holidays are ok in their way but not really "enough". On my cruises I met loads of people who just seem to spend all their time going on several cruises or land based holidays a year. I know I sound like a spoilt princess but it's not really for me. I need goals and challenges.

I also need to book a haircut. I can't believe how fast it's grown.......

It must be the warm weather. :rotfl:

    [h/QUOTE]

    Good Morning,

Random comment.....I was watching a video of Boris going walkabout in Birmingham yesterday, and realised it was outside my hairdressers! :rotfl:

LL Man plans and God laughs..... is that the quote?

DH and I planned to retire in our 50's. :rotfl: Instead, he is embarking on a new career, and I am the main wage earner, so no retirement for us.

Went out for a meal last night with DS2. No occasion, just needed to use up a voucher before it expired. Made a valiant effort and wore a long summer dress and put on makeup.

Raining this morning. Doggie is very happy and has been lying outside enjoying the cool.

    Have a lovely day. :)

    Greetings from Greece.

We are enjoying the sun, sea and sand. We have stayed in this resort before so knew what to expect when we arrived. Just off to take the children to the pool and maybe to the beach later.

House elf......I feel like your doggie.....I am so happy it's cooler, I would probably enjoy lying out in the rain too. :rotfl:

Good luck to your DH and his new career. I think that's fantastic.

I spent a lovely afternoon putting the finishing touches to my dressing room. I am so pleased with the final result. Other than the new carpet it has cost me next to nothing, reusing and repurposing what I already had. Just need to sort out some curtains or blinds and then get my son to switch the light fittings over. I am going to put one of my chandeliers in there. Very glamourous. :rotfl:

Builder due this morning. Better get cracking.

    Have a great weekend y'all.

    Keeeeep fabbing.

    Enjoy your holiday. Chanie.

    Hello Ladies,

Maman I finally asked my son and his accommodation is all year round.

    Chanie
, it sounds like you and your family are enjoying your holiday in Greece :D

I am so glad that the rain has arrived. It is so much cooler :D

I went to the cinema yesterday and it was so great to be sitting in that air conditioned cinema. The film was great as well :D

I am still enjoying reading a lot. I am currently reading Cliff Richard's Autobiography that he wrote with Penny Junor. :D
  • I'm very tired. Youngest GD had a bad night and got herself into a state wanting her mum. I ended up sleeping on the edge of a single bed, how can a little person take up 90% of the space. Roll on September! I do love them and love having them but it is tiring.

My night out on Thursday was unbearably hot in London.

When I was at the gig the other night I had to be let into the VIP area to sit down as I was so hot I felt ill!:(

The concert was good despite that and I stayed until the end.

I'm another one who is very glad that it has cooled down a lot!

I have gained wight as well (about 2 pounds) as I have been eating just random stuff when I felt like eating as most of the time I have been too hot to eat.

I think it's from drinking so much water as well.

I have ordered lots of healthy stuff from Sainbury's to get back on the straight and narrow.:)

I'm about to go for a walk even though it is raining.:rotfl:
