    Hello Folks,

Hoping to join you for the summer hols....

Today is the beginning of the frump to fab campaign for a fab holiday. I have had my hair cut. I feel better already!

Then I found 2 pairs of sandals in a charity shop..... One for day, (brand new with the tag still on from House of Fraser!), and one for evening (Clarke's).

Two weeks before we go. I hope to pack and de clutter! Planning on leaving things behind to donate to a good cause, and make space for ticky tacky souvenirs to bring home.

Hi Elf.....happy fabbing in time for your holiday. Sounds like you've made a good start

    Well good morning lovely ladies.....

I have been to the chiropodist this morning but didn't stay out long, it's like a furnace out there. I did pop into a chazza and picked up some white cotton trousers and a blue and cream beach type straw bag. I shall be happy to just potter about indoors today.

Sorting out going well. Have popped a chest of drawers into the "dressing room" :rotfl: as a temporary measure. Didn't bother painting it in the end, it's already a cream shabby chic so I just put the blue and white porcelain knobs on it. It looks nice in there.

Definitely a blue and white theme starting to develop. :rotfl:

I have two very pretty turquoise floor vases, not the same, so will get some dried/fake flowers for those and a really gorgeous blue and white table lamp which will sit on the chest of drawers.

There's a funny little alcove thing on one wall, tbh neither use nor ornament really, very narrow shelves so not much good for storage and not suitable for books. I thought I would place some photos and artwork on the shelves. Very "designer". :rotfl:

Maman - I have got grey high gloss cabinetry in my bathroom. I resisted grey at first because I didn't want anything too fashionable but actually I do like it. It's neutral and always looks crisp and clean. I currently accessorise with plum shades but only because I already had loads of towels. I keep it simple, everything is hidden away. I just dress it with a couple of plants, usually a couple of nice orchids.

I am going to treat myself to some new towels, even if it's just hand towels and bathmat. I like that mustard, but tbh most bright colours such as orange, turquoise, lime or even bright pink or red would look good. I do have some lovely white towels - very boutique hotel chic ha ha but they are not for every day use. I will save those to dress the room when I decided to sell. :rotfl: I have done that on the last two houses, so they are as new.

I love white towels, nothing screams luxury quite like pristine white towels but not really practical for every day. I do always have plain white bed linen though and I am currently looking out for nice white linen table cloths and napkins. Hoping to score some vintage lace or embroidered ones but don't want to pay antique shop prices.

Right better get cracking although the heat is already making me sleepy. I will probably have a siesta later, or at least loll on the sofa and watch a film......

Keep cool ladies and stay well hydrated.

Really?:D I remember my BIL and I having a little competition to see who could find the most tacky souvenir in Lourdes. His madonna is luminous but mine is luminous and plays Ave Maria.:D

These days I buy useful souvenirs that nevertheless evoke memories. For example, I've just finished a jar of rosemary from Milan.:)

Good bargains from the CS for your holiday. Where are you going elf?

I think you and I have similar tastes in many things LL. :) I have white towels in my bathroom. The current ones are getting a bit past it (promised to DGD for animal sanctuary) but I'm hanging on for bathroom refurbishment. I've got some super white towels, at the ready, from The White Company and various others from TKMaxx. I do have just one coloured hand towel as well which takes the brunt of hand washing. Currently I have greys and greens from Orla Kiely. This is a throwback to when I used to prolong my highlights by using those coloured shampoos to brighten up the mouse. Does anyone remember Hint of a Tint? Or Toners and Shaders? I've always kept a dark towel for drying my hair.

We now have a date for the plumber starting the bathroom!:j

Is the 'dressing room' where you plan to do treatments?:)

We've been out for our 'health' walk this morning. I took plenty of water and the leader shortened the walk and slowed the usual pace to make sure we didn't suffer from the heat. Fortunately it's across parkland so most of the time we were in the shade of trees.

After lunch I'm planning to just read unless I get taken by a sudden burst of energy. :D

Hope your event goes well tonight Wednesday. :)
  • Very hot here and I had a job so been out doing some work, more money in the saving fund! I think we are going to take it easy for a few hours and then go out late afternoon. We need to do some shopping.

I have all white towels in my bathroom, someone got them for me with their order for a hotel so they were a bargain and lovely quality. I do like white towels.

I've got young GC arriving tomorrow morning for a holiday with granny so I will be tired this weekend. Hope the heat doesn't make the little one too grumpy.

    Hello Ladies,

Wednesday that ring you bought was a bargain. Enjoy your event tonight. :D

Humpty my grandson like most children who end up In Care has many issues but usually when he was visiting me and my 2 younger children, he would be very well behaved. I made it clear that the type of anti social behaviours that he normally does would not be tolerated by any of the 3 of us. :) Yes, it was hurtful and painful him turning on us, but I have made it clear to him that only the financial support is no longer available to him, but emotional and practical help are always available. :) Social services have found him some kind of accommodation, so at least he is not homeless and he applied for Universal Credit 3 weeks ago. :D He asked me to buy him a pair of Jordan trainers for £79.99 for his birthday on 30th July and I told him no . I would not pay that kind of money for my own footwear!

LL I use lovely Egyptian cotton white bath sheets and white guest towels to dry my face with. :D My white towels are even better quality than the 5 * hotel in Jamaica supplied. :D My son has royal blue towels and my daughter has Asda's supersoft mustard towels. I use green hand towels in the bathroom as they match the tiles and flooring for a coordinated look :)

I am struggling with the overly hot weather, but wearing Factor 50 and my sunglasses when I go out of my home to protect myself as much as possible. I also take a cold bottle of water and a hand fan with me to keep me cool and hydrated as public buses are really hot at the moment. :( In my home I have a really big chrome floor fan that is keeping me cool in the daytime and also through the hot nights if necessary :D

Yes the dressing room will double up as a treatment room, which is why the chest of drawers is only temporary, the room is more spacious without. (thought I'd move it out whilst I decorate my bedroom, makes life a bit easier). Where the chest of drawers currently sits, I will create a feature fireplace to add to the luxurious feel of the room and make it super cosy. :D

Was telling my chiropodist about my plans this morning.....I have known her for years and we've become good friends. She said if I got some cards or leaflets printed she would help me promote my business. (She used to sell my jewellery for me when I was more productive, I haven't made any for ages). In fact she gave me the name of a good salon suppliers for the bits and pieces I need.

I'm in no hurry though, I'm pushing forward with the house first. Clear the decks so I can then give the business my proper attention.

Its all starting to come together nicely. Got the handyman here tomorrow and the builder on Saturday.
  • Goodluck with GS Sugarbaby. At least you know he is safe with somewhere to live. I don't blame you saying no to the trainers, perhaps having enough to buy them might motivate him to get a job. I've got my eldest GS with me today, I don't think he is any trouble, his mother says he is a nightmare. Not sure what the truth is, somewhere in the middle I suspect.

    Good afternoon Folks,

Maman We are going to Mumbai...... We had planned to meet DD on her travels, but she had a change of plan, and is now in Greece :D We will be reliving our youth, and visiting places we went to on a trip 30 years ago, when we got engaged. :o

I shall be looking for wall hangings I can make into duvet covers. I will be doing my best to just make memories, and take photos, but I am drawn to a pretty bangle. :o

Kept cool by going to the Silver Screen at the Odeon this morning. Also refreshing to be the youngest in the room for a change :rotfl: £3 ticket with free tea or coffee. The film was The Keeper. Really enjoyed it!

My nails have grown already, after a week of no work. I have painted them pink. :)

    Keep cool

I'm just doing my nails red and waiting to have a shower and hair wash just before I leave so I am feeling cooler. The taxi is booked for half six so hopefully it might be less hot by that time.

Wednesday I live on the coast, there wasn't much of a breeze yesterday and it is baking today. I know it is probably worse inland so not sure how I'd cope.

It is horrible here today. So humid and muggy.

I think I would like living by the sea but probably wouldn't like the sea breeze in the winter months.:D

    Thank you!

The ring is actually really lovely and looks much more expensive than it is, well, to me it does. I'm wearing it on my wedding finger tonight.:)
