Frump to Fab 2019 - Here We Go Again

Hi Sheila. Hope all is well. I'm very lucky too, people are generally very friendly in my neck of the woods. My new neighbours are really friendly too, many of them have lived here for years and they have made me feel very welcome.
Anyway Good Morning Lovely Ladies.
I was shattered last night after granny duty but instead of slumping on the sofa watching rubbish tv I pottered about the garden watering plants and pulling up a few weeds. It was lovely and warm. I do love these long light evenings.
Then I did a bit of ironing and had an early night - well 11 is early for me. Slept like a babe.
One more day of granny duty and then I'm done, it's been fun but I'm glad I am finished for a while. You can have too much of a good thing.
"My watch is ended". :rotfl: (you GOT fans will recognise that one).
Shall give myself a face mask in a minute and a nice Long soak in the bath to ease my aching bones.
Have a great day, y'all.0 -
'plodding' along here LL thanks.
Miss my bath, we have a wet room now, you cannot beat a good soak, especially after gardening, it eases the aching bones!
Enjoy your Thursday ladies0 -
Morning all you Fab Ladies
Interesting conversations about introverts & extroverts. I'm an only child so have always been quite content with my own company but happy to party or be in a crowd - maybe it's my Gemini trait as communication is a driving force in my life one way or another.
Sheila when we had our en suite revamped DH suggested we took the bath out and had a walk in shower....Nooooooo! I do much prefer a bath to a shower especially if I want a little pamper and me time.
Getting my hair cut this morning - might have it cut really short as I'm going on holiday to Greece on Tuesday so will be spending lots of time in the water and it would be easier to manage.
I've been using a self tan on my legs the last couple of days. It was just a cheapie so wasn't expecting too much however it hasn't got that awful acrid smell that they used to have and it's easy to apply and has gone on smoothly with no streaks. Its called St Moriz & I bought it in the Savers drug store if anyone is interested.
Just need to get started on my packing now! Decisions decisionsSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I am going to have to buy some new clothes.:D I was trying not to until I reached my goal weight but I had to get rid of a lot of stuff again as it is too big now.
I will order some dresses and skirts from George, cheap and cheerful and fast fashion but I have to have some things to wear.:rotfl: I will order in a size 14 so I could probably still wear it after I lose more weight.
Have a great day everyone.xx It's nice and sunny and bright here.0 -
I couldn't find anything I liked on George so I went with ASOS instead. I've never bought anything from them before. There was a code for next day delivery which was good.:)2025 GOALS

Had a great day with the Little Emperor (my grandson). Lots of laughs, cuddles and big sloppy kisses. Shattered now. :rotfl: One more day to go and then a well earned break.
Well I've booked another meet up outing......next Tuesday night, a pop quiz in one of our city centre pubs. It's a fab pub, the oldest in the city, full of character. And I love pub quizzes. A great way to make friends with like minded people with shared interests. My calendar is filling up nicely..
Just need to suss out the various car parks and routes round the one way system. It seems that a lot of the forthcoming outings are city centre based.....well at the least the ones I fancy.;)
Well you are turning into a real social butterfly LL - you mucky stop out you lol
Walking into a crowded room is not a problem for me, but oh boy, driving to somewhere I've not been before is my nemesis - cue at least one dummy run with timings - that alone would have me quivering like a jelly - aren't we all different.
So glad that you are getting out and about in RL, and to think that you have months of the lovely long evenings where it is pleasant and safe to be out alone (at least at first), and all that time to get your new lovely social life established. The first year of solo living - before I met Mr Dot - was fine in the winter but the summer evenings were so long and quite lonely - and again, if Meetup was around then I would have been out most evenings. Certainly wasn't looking for love at that stage, but some nice company would have been fab.0 -
Just lost a post. Grrrrr.
You are right Dorothy. I actually don't mind being alone on the winter evenings. In fact, as long as I've been out and about during the day, I'm quite happy just snuggling down and getting cosy of a cold winters night. A good book or a nice movie and I'm as happy as a pig in muck.
It's the summer evenings that can be difficult. I see people out and about and that's when I can get a bit down, that's when I miss my husband the most. So that's why I've bitten the bullet and I'm doing it now. I can only give it a go and see what happens.
I do have some nice single female friends - I am not entirely Jenny No Mates :rotfl: but I do think it will be a good idea to broaden my horizons a little.
I may or may not meet a nice guy, it would be fun but that's not really the object, it's more about building a new interesting life.
I don't like to use the expression "move on" but it's nearly 5 years now - time to come out of the shadow of widowhood and move forward.
I don't mind entering a room full of strangers either but like you I do need to know about parking and finding my way round the one way system. I often do a dummy run when I have to go somewhere new.
It was so light last evening. Can't believe that we are nearly coming up to the summer solstice and the longest day. Where does the time go.0 -
I've done dummy runs in the past but only if it was for a job interview or something that would have been disastrous if I was late. That was before sat nav and Google maps though. It is easier if you go somewhere for the first time in daylight. What surprised me LL was why you're taking the car at all. I thought the reason bus passes were invented was so that older people could go to the pub!!:j:D
Your holiday has crept up quickly silva. I do hope you have a really good time in Greece. I go three weeks yesterday. really looking forward to it.
I've spent most of the afternoon getting quotes for Home Insurance:(. It has to be renewed while we're away so I need to get it sorted and also travel insurance as I let it lapse when we got back from India as there was nothing expensive but a couple of easyjet flights to worry about. My existing provider (Lloyds to name and shame!!) sent me a renewal notice with roughly a 20% increase on last year's premium for no change in circumstances or claims. I wanted to get the home insurance first as if there's decent belongings cover away from home then it'll affect the travel cover. Why is life so complicated!! I remember when I was a child that an insurance man came around to my grandparents' and just collected some money every week. If you wanted to discuss a policy he came in, sat down and had a cup of tea and gave you all the personal attention you needed. How times have changed.:(
I've been to a meeting today. This week I stood down from one committee I was involved in and joined two more. Keeps me out of trouble I suppose. So I was up and out fairly early but just jeans and a top were suitable. While I was out I stopped off at a Clarins counter as I wanted some advice. The Clarins counter person wasn't in today so one of the others insisted on giving me some samples. They're only tiny (day and night cream, serum and flash balm) but would be ideal for staying away one night.
Haven't been to vote yet but I will shortly.;) Tomorrow we're going out for tea and then the theatre with a group of friends. There's a certain irony in the timing as the play is The Audience (Helen Mirren did it in London) which is about the Queen and the many Prime Ministers she's had during her reign. We're going to the opening night and it's on until 22nd June. I wonder if they'll add in any more Prime Ministers during the run!:rotfl:0 -
Good morning lovely ladies.
A lovely day here. No granny duties today so I'm looking forward to having a nice home day, a bit of a kitchen sort out, do some hand washing of delicates and then a nice potter in the garden.
I had to have pest control out this morning. Had to fork out over £100 to have a tree bees nest removed  .They are not a native species and they are vicious little blighters. They sting repeatedly like wasps. Anyway it's done. I might have to have the guy back because there may also be a wasps nest in the eaves but it's too early to tell yet, so he said wait and see.
There's always something.....
Had to cancel dancing tonight......don't know what I've done to my knee, but is very sore and swollen so I think it's best if I just take it relatively easy today. Bit disappointing but hey ho, there will be other opportunities.
Actually feeling quite under par......my eyes are really sore and itchy, only hay fever related but not much fun. Back on the eye drops so they should be ok in a day or so.
Feel a bit "flat" today but I will get a grip. I think it's just tiredness so a gentle day should sort me out. I have got a couple of nice books to read so I'll find a sunny spot for my deckchair and just enjoy the day.
Have a great day.......0
