    My fabbing faves

I have been on this thread for a few years now and I wanted to share some of my favourite products and tips.

Micropedi - I used to use a manual foot file, but my micro pedi is so much quicker. I buy replacement head from eBay (they aren’t the official ones, but do a good job).
Tip - I have discovered that since I have stated wearing leather shoes (as opposed to pleather) my feet are in much better condition. I guess it is because they can breathe.

Coconut oil - there are loads of uses for it. I use it as a deep hair conditioning treatment.

Lipstick queen frog prince - this lipstick is green, but reacts to the colour of your lips and turns a nice pink. It is supposed to be a universal colour which suits everyone. A good start if you are new to wearing lipstick.

Body brushing - i don’t enjoy body brushing, but it is supposed to be the best thing for cellulite. It’s also a good exfoliator and for renewing skin cells. Once you have your brush, you don’t need to buy anything else.

Thanks Money......interesting website re Marilyn. Just shows how many myths there were about her.

Not impressed with Liz Hurley's comment on it though

No that was just plain nasty.

  • I wouldn't ever want to be a size 10 again as my breasts looked totally out of proportion.:rotfl: I remember how many men in clubs and bars asked me if I had implants when I was younger. Grr.

Well - from personal experience - I guess that could be construed as one advantage of getting older (speaking as someone with bigger boobs too...) = ie no more men focusing on my boobs, rather than my face, when talking to me. Even more to the point = no risk of totally unknown men in the streets making "hand-cupping" gestures whilst looking in the same direction:cool:

Now that is one aspect of getting older that does feel like an improvement..

Well - I certainly registered it as inaccurate and needless (considering that Liz Hurley is still attractive herself to this day ...).

3 for holidays I currently use the body shop camomile cleaning oil and I am happy with they. Over the years, I have tried liz Earle and Superdrug dupe, body shop vitamin e and aloe ranges, la Roche posay and Lush. I have also had cream from my GP. I have polycystic ovaries and bad skin is one of the symptoms. So, I my mind, no amount of face cream is going to combat a hormone imbalance. I find that my skin is worse between ovulation and the time of the month. Also, the less product I use on my skin, the better it is. Occasionally, I will do the caveman regime for a short while , which is essentially to do nothing and my skin resets itself.
I think its trial and error until you find something that works for you.
Also forgot, I tried The Ordinary. The products are worth trying and I still use them.

Candy girl I have used Dylan to redye some faded black jeans. I did a lot reading up on the machine dyes. They don’t work well on man made fibres like polyester. Also, they may not dye the sewing thread, so you may be left with visible stitching.

    Morning

Thank you for your welcome and reply LessonLearned

I'm 45, life is too short to not enjoy the things that I enjoy, while remembering to nourish and care for my body and well being. The self imposed punishment has to go. :)

I'm back at work today so I'm ready with the perfume and jewellery. I've also done 5 kettle bell swings (slow & steady) and I'm getting lunch ready.
My wardobe is less than ideal at the moment and some time and money needs to be spent updating it, but I'm paying off some debt this first quarter of the year and so I'll 'make the best of what I have' til then.

I'm loving the skin care and make up information. Lots of items to put on my list and give a try.

    Good morning lovely ladies.

Frankie, fortunately I now no longer have debts, just a small mortgage but I too will be on a mission to make and save extra money this year. I'm setting myself a buy no clothes for six months challenge. No great hardship because I have wardrobes full. Lol.

House fabbing today. Going to take the decorations down and give everywhere a bit of a spruce up. The decluttering starts in earnest at the weekend. :rotfl:

Have a great day. Happy fabbing.

Her meausrements and weight probably varied just like the rest of us. If someone said in 2018 Humpty measured 36 26 38 it would have been accurate in April but by June it would have been 34 24 36 because I was ill for a few weeks and lost weight. I worked with someone who had to take a weeks holiday after Christmas one year as she literally couldn't get into her work clothes, she wore a uniform. A week of no eating and working out meant she dropped a dress size and could just squeeze back into her uniform and do the buttons up so in the space of 3 weeks she went up two dress sizes and then down one.

If you are overweight and it is affecting your health or reducing your energy levels or impacting on your joints and mobility then obviously you do need to shift that extra weight as quickly as you can but please don't think that you have to be a stick insect in order to be attractive. And for goodness sake don't starve your poor bodies into submission and deprive them of the nutrients they need.

The reason why so many people fail with their New Year Resolutions is that they set themselves impossible goals. They start all gung ho in January and then fall by the wayside before they even hit Easter.

The trick to achieving change......of any kind .......is consistency, not starting in a rash of wild enthusiasm and then giving up through boredom or lack of motivation or because you aren't making "progress" quick enough for your liking. Please remember There are no quick fixes and no miracle overnight transformations. Although of course we can cheat a little, a few tweaks here and there can make a huge difference.

You will learn plenty of tips as we go along .......the old timers on here have loads of little tips, hacks and cheats to help you on your journey to fabdom.

Sure we all fall by the wayside now and again but then you just climb back in the wagon and start again. You have to be really committed to the long haul to make any real difference. There are no magic wands...:rotfl:

So please no restrictive diets, no sudden punishing exercise regimes. You won't make it. You are setting yourselves up to fail. You will find it too hard and you will give up.

Instead make small changes to your daily routines, do them consistently and you will soon start to reap the benefits. Take it slow and steady, in small manageable steps and you are likely to be far more successful than if you go at it all bull at a gate.

Make yourselves a promise. Give yourselves six months.......[/QUOTE]

I have weighed myself today . I am overweight . To be honest it makes me look awful and feel awful. I don't want to slim down and make myself look scrawny just be happy in myself and look good in my clothes.

I don't want to keep piling on the pounds this has got to stop. My weight gain is also affecting my general health . I seem to have heartburn and my hot flushes have gone haywire over Christmas so it's time to get back to normal eating .

Tbh I want to look good and feel good. So my promise is to look after myself as no one else is going to do that.

I have set up a spreadsheet to track my weight loss and plan to weigh myself twice a week.

I had an email from b00ts yesterday and registered with one you that has given me a list of apps that I can download and use. So I will check them out.

I have a tablet and I went to my local library last year to register it so that I could borrow books on it. I found out that I could also get a wide range of magazines free as well. I am going to download a few fitness mags and see if I can get any info there, tbh they tend to be full of young size 8 models and that puts me off.

Last year my resolution was to .earn to swim. I did that and will continue this year, however our sports centres have either been closed or are opening with reduced hours over the holidays. Hopefully I will be able to swim again tomorrow night.

Right it's time to stop feeling sorry for myself so have a great day dabbing all.
