  • How can so much time go by so quickly ?
Had my cataract surgery which is miraculous and was really easy despite me being terrified. It has however brought some issues. My eye that has had the surgery is great now for distance but I can't see to read with it. The other eye is still rubbish for distance and reading and obviously my specs are now useless and I can't get new ones until six weeks have passed. I'm struggling a bit. I thought I could solve it by taking out the lens from the 'good' side but I immediately got double vision. Argh!! Back to work next week and no idea how I'm going to manage. I don't care though as I now know that when I get the other eye done I will have really good distance viaion which is a massive thing for me as it means I will not need to wear specs 24/7.

The weight is a work in progress still but unfortunately I have been going backwards for a few weeks. I have been referred to the weight management team. I asked for this so I could get free referral to weight watchers but because of my sleep apnoea I need to attend their specialist centre in Glasgow. Pain in the a$$ but I'll give it my best shot.

Money wise I am plodding along. Debt is going down slowly each month but not as quickly as I would like. I just need to focus on the fact that they are all going down. I'm back to money saving ways and am more or less managing to live within my means. My daughter is going to move out before Christmas with her boyfriend so I am going to start a box for her with kitchen/cleaning essentials as they will have nothing.

I need to call HMRC and let them know I have stopped all self employed work. I'll then need to wrap up my accounts and get the tax bill paid. I'll do it over the months until January so I don't have a big bill in January. I might sort that out tomorrow.

So I hope you are all well xx

That's so annoying about your vision, same thing happened to my mum and it drove her nuts. Do you know how long you'll have to wait till you get the other one done? The debts going down and that's fab and I'm sure the weight loss won't be far behind, your doing great and it's lovely to hear from you again xx
  • Hi nonnie. Consultant has said he won’t touch the other eye just now as it isn’t bad enough. Hopefully getting my specs sorted in 5 weeks will help. Eye really irritated today though. I’ll need to phone them tomorrow for some advice x

Good to hear from you :) It's amazing how fast time goes by.

Hope your vision improves, hopefully once you've had the other eye done things will settle down.

Shame you couldn't get the WW referral, I'm sure the support you get there would spur you on.

Any steps forward are good no matter how small, it all takes time but you'll get there in the end xx

I hope your eye is better today, nothing worse than a sore eye xx
  • Hi folks. Been avoiding the computer except for work as struggling to read. Eye is great though and all will be fab once I get new specs in three weeks.

My finances are a nightmare this month. I had no overtime so just a bare wage. It is years since I have had this as I always had cleaning/laundry money or overtime more recently. However it looks like this will be the way forward for me so I really really need to get in to the money saving again. That can tie in with the losing weight as I can use it as my excuse to tweak my socialising. I can say I'm on a diet and no-one will realise I'm moneysaving .

I went to see the NHS weight management team on Wednesday and I have been accepted on to their programme. I'm now just waiting on a start date for that. This will involve an 18 week programme of dietician, 9 group sessions, cognitive behavioural therapy and physio ( as my back is agony when I walk or stand) . At he minute I am calorie counting but eating perfectly normally and my God it's an absolute shock just how many calories are in things ,that when I'm not watching what I eat, that I would munch down. One is obviously sugary snacks. Over the afternoon and evening the other day I ate a packet of fruit pastilles and there were 756 calories in them . I had also bought a cob loaf and just kept cutting off a slice and buttering it. That cost me 850 calories. I mean it's ridiculous. I have always kind of felt hard done to as I saw people eating loads and still being slim but this little exercise I am doing for myself is really opening my eyes. My snacks over last two days have been well over 1500 calories alone and that's not even counting the cider I had last night. So this wee experiment is showing me very clearly that my eating is actually okay it's my snacking that's the massive issue. I'll need to tackle that somehow.

So today is a cleaning/ chilling type of day. DD is in Budapest for a few days and DS has a new computer gadget to pay with so I'll hardly see him :rotfl:

Have a lovely weekend folks xx

Hi there, well done for posting and getting accepted on the course. My weakness is wine, cheese and bread. And I could certainly eat more veg. Its definitely worse when I am stressed or tired. I have started to do simple things like go for a bath to relax and then reading (last night) or last week I just put on my trainers and went for a short run. Clears the head. Felt better afterwards and certainly didn't want to eat :rotfl:

    Have a great weekend

Pleased to hear your eye is feeling much better. My snacking is what destroys my weight loss too.
