Another successful day today again:T Bedroom is completely finished....... tidy no..... but it is de-cluttered :rotfl:
I need to see about getting another set of drawers for my room and a few new shelves up, but I'm struggling to find drawers as I want ones that come assembled already but also don't cost an arm and a leg!
I got my room redecorated 2 months ago and everything was removed from it and put into the spare room, it has slowly been coming back into my room but slowly being the word. We had a shock sudden death in the family a few weeks ago and it literally brought everything to a stop. I just lost interest in everything, including Christmas - which I usually love - but I just haven't been in the right frame of mind to do anything.
Hopefully a new year will be a new frame of mind and new start for me.
Anyhoo, another bag put into the bin today, with a few items added to the recycling bins, and the every growing amount of donate bags
I'm hoping the charity collectors come round the doors with their sticker labels soon as they'll be doing me a huge favour:rotfl:
Cleaning day tomorrow in preparation for the new year. So will be bringing my plastic bag around the rooms as I clean to see what can be added to the various bags/boxes etc we have going ATM.Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0 -
IrishRose - sorry to hear that
11 - used up a candle that I got for Xmas last year.
I did buy a couple of candles yesterday so there was more coming in however they were really cheap in the sale and are for xmas presents next year (I have a box in the loft that I store them all in, I wrap them as I go and write in a note book what each person has got)

Hello all
Just found this thread ( thanks MrsSD) and I too would like to join in.
I have too much stuff but I struggle with getting rid of things which are kept " just in case ". My DH has a penchant for keeping bits of wire, cable and all things mechanical/electrical too. I seem to have a lot of cupboards, drawers and even a room of Doom ( the office ):rotfl:. I would so like to have at least a semi clutter free house :j.
Hopefully you will have a) some good tips ( like the turning of the hangers... thanks that's a great idea :T ) and b) push me to do something about the clutter.Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
I would like to join in again, if I may. I did have a go in 2018 but lost count although I continued decluttering as I went along. I also follow the Marie Kondo thread on here.
During 2017 my paperwork mountain reduced to a small hill. There is more to go but I know that I can finally get it under control in the not too distant future.
When I started the Kondo method (I think it was 3 years ago) I did all my clothes. I am now ready to do another sweep of these as I still have way too many. I have started with a pair of boots which are going to the charity shop although I do need to actually get everything out to do the "spark joy" process.
I will get started on that one in a couple of weeks. In the meantime I will continue with paperwork and anything else which catches my eye in passing.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅0 -
I'm very motivated to declutter in 2019. My wife and I moved from a small flat to a little house this month. We got rid of a lot of stuff before the move yet somehow still have far too much for our space. So many books, clothes and so much paperwork!
I'm planning to be ruthless with my stuff to set a good example. Hopefully I can convince my wife to let some things go!2019 MFW #118: 9474/4000 | 2020 MFW #112: 2500/2500 | 2021 MFW #21: 1890/1920 | 2022 MFW #NA: 2180/1920 | 2025 rebuilding emergency fund: 2500/90000 -
I've just done another blitz of the kitchen. All clean surfaces now apart from a kettle and the fruit bowl.:A
I decluttered some dust with the vacuum as well tonight and did some laundry so a fresh new year tomorrow.
I collected up some clothes to dye purple tonight. I thought I may as well do it now as I'm in a productive mood today.
I'm about to put my feet up after all that work and have a chilled cider.
Oh yes, I am going to go through the dog toys and throw some old ones away too.0 -

In my area we have charity shops that gather furniture together in a big store so its like a supermarket of stuff. Drawers from there are likely to be made and cheap however you often need to trawl as obv they never know what they are going to get in on any given day. We also have an auction house that has a weekly 'lane sale' where stuff that didn't get sold at the proper auction and job lots and odd things end up. Its held outside and you can often pick up furniture for a pound or two- but you gave to be on your toes as it moves FAST :eek: maybe worth checking if theres anything like that in your area? Or the good old local fb selling pages?
I know these options are no good if you want something quickly

I've decluttered, using the Marie Kondo approach. We probably gave away/ recycled/ binned half or more of what we owned.

I have had a nosey in our local charity shop that sells furniture but to be honest they weren't in great condition. Without wanting to sound snobby...... as I'm far from it :rotfl: but I'd like new furniture, as everything else bar the chest of drawers I have now is brand new. Brand new bed/matteress, bed linen, the lot. I don't often buy myself anything, usually soend my money on others so I'd like to treat myself tbh.
That and the fact I don't drive and there's not many charity shops that deliver, or even pick up donations unfortunately.
I have my eye on some furniture from Ikea, but they're looking £30 per item for it to be assembled, and another £35 to be delivered:eek: the chest of drawers and storage unit I want only cost £90 for both, but it'll be double that to be delivered 20mins acriss town and assembled:eek:
I'd rather the clothes be piled on the floor lol.
Another bag out to the bin today, and more recycling added to the boxes and black bag.
Bathrooms cleaned and freshener up, and drains have had a drop of disinfectant dropped into them.
All that's left for me to say to you all is Happy New Year and I'll speak to you all in 2019!!!Pay all debt off by Christmas 2025 £815.45/£3,000£1 a day challenge 2025 - £180/£730 Declutter a bag a week in 2025 11/52Lose 25lb - 10/25lbs Read 1 book per week - 5/52Pay off credit card debt 18%/100%0
