Morning all
My decluttering and general OS-ness (bad English, I know!) ground to a halt recently due to us all having bad colds and being very under the weather. Feeling a bit more human this morning, so will be getting back to it all!
Today, I'm just going to clear the dining table (utter chaos and only just enough space to eat!) and take a few bags of already-sorted rubbish to the tip, and 1 to the CS - it will be as much as I can manage. I'm also going to sort one bookshelf, just removing those books than can go, and work out which to m@gicm@agpie and which to CS.
Off to catch up...

I was pleased that I was faffing about when I found my treasure, and made sure I checked everything extra carefully after that!

Morning everyone
MSD - Thank you for the encouragement! In a way I feel like I am decluttering my mind as well (if that makes sense?) I am trying not to worry about things as much and really taking time to think about how I feel about items I have in my house and if I really need them. My trouble is I'm a "just in case" or "you never know" kind of person and these things rarely come in handy and I just have to stare at them!
Dining table become a place to store carp again (only after a few days!!:eek:) so I made sure I cleared that off last night and I must admit it makes me feel so much better when it's tidy. Getting rid of clutter is helping my mental health as well

I've been MIA for a few days - sadly my dad died on Friday, so everything has been up in the air.
No decluttering of my own, but while looking for essential paperwork realised my parents had a HUGE amount of junk, e.g. receipts and cheque book stubs going back to the 1960s. DB and I have been trying to get rid of as much recycling/shredding as possible without upsetting DM. Think it will take some time.
There are a couple of morals for me:
- I can now see where some of my traits have come from. I really don't want them to develop in the way they have with my parents. I need to act now, so I don't disappear under a pile of waste paper and carp
- make sure that I tell people where paperwork is, not put it somewhere obvious to me. It may not be as obvious to my loved ones when I'm not there any more.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, GreenQueen. A very hard time and as you say, having to find important papers at such a time isn't easy. I've been sorting my Mum's house for a long time (she lived at a distance and I can't get over there easily) - there are still things we can't find, though thankfully she left her affairs in good order.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. Sorry for your lose Greenqueen.
I have a similar situation but I am doing it slowly - bringing a bag or two home at a time to go through. It's going to be a long haul but can do it one bag at a time. On top of my own stuff it's sometimes as if I am just a keeper of clutter & muddle.0 -

Sorry for your loss.
It was clearing my mum's house after she died that made me think about my clutter. Having to drive 300 miles to her house every weekend for months and then constantly take stuff to the tip and charity shop was a big wake up call.
Sorting out my paperwork is something I am trying to sort out as well. I am also not sure what to do about digital 'paperwork' as I don't want to write down all my log-in details for my various accounts/subscriptions but do need to store that info somewhere.0
