Some paperwork ousted. 18 years worth of Child Benefit correspondence for DS. He's at Uni now, so probably don't need it! Lots of Child Savings Account stuff for DS and DD, savings moved to a Help to Buy ISA each now, so it's gone. How time flies, doesn't seem like 5 minutes since I was opening those accounts. I need to do my bank/credit card stuff, I have statements going back to 2000! But I've stopped to do more urgent stuff, like for Christmas!I

  • Hi guys,
I have returned here after a while, was doing great the first few months of the year and sporadically throughout, but I am ready and back on it as can't cope with them amount of stuff in the house!
A couple of weeks ago I took a sack of stuff to the charity shop, just I didn't post as was in a rush.
    Today I have:
    - arranged to drop off sack of DS old clothes to a friend who would like them for her son, she is struggling at moment so will appreciate them
    - sorted some of DS old computer game stuff to sell (2 bags full)
    - sorted some of DS old books to sell/donate/give to friends
    - sorted some of my old books to sell/donate etc
    - I have 2 printers, an old iron and couple of other electronic bits to either recycle or sell (if I find the printer cable!)
    - Listed DS old bike on fb but no buyers yet!
    - wrote loads of christmas cards to client, future clients and people I want to work with - uses them up as from previous years and gets the loft decluttered
    - need to take old christmas tree in loft to recycling, treated us to new one this year

I do realise I haven't done much of the above yet, but I have it planned and I know that posting here you guys will put a rocket up my rear end to ,make sure i get it done!
  • I have decluttered a lot more stuff!

I have binned two eyeshadows as I bought a new palette the other day and I didn't think I could donate them. I have thrown away four used up pens and a few chewed up dog toys too.

I used up a hand lotion and a face scrub last week as well.

I went though my food cupboards and realised all my cooking oils are out of date! I threw them away as I know oils can get rancid easily.

I looked through a box my husband keeps random stuff in and several things were thrown away that were not needed. His old paperwork put into recycling. I found a £50 note he had forgotten about!!!:T

    Evening All
Under duress, I took a day off and went Christmas shopping. Had a nice bit of lunch, but spent more on parking than gifts. Came back with some slipper socks for DD, some beer for Christmas day and the Christmas TV Times. That's it. There really was very little that took my fancy. All I can see is clutter and packaging!! Luckily, I have done a bit online already, so not panicking yet. This year, I've mainly gone for things that can be used up, like favourite foods or beauty products, or experiences like afternoon tea or cinema tickets. I'm hoping the favour will be returned and stuff will not be rained down upon me either! I'd love to do a no present pact for all the grown ups, but I am sadly lacking support with that one, so I'm just trying to avoid purchasing unnecessary stuff :D.
Our Christmas tree is up with minimal swearing at tangled fairy lights. It's looking a bit bedraggled, but I've covered it in gold tinsel and DD is going to do the baubles and choc decs later. The colour theme is "there is no colour theme". Trying hard to see the extra Christmas stuff as delightful rather than clutter :rotfl:.

I've just packed up a whole lot of airline amenity packs with hotel toiletries into a conference backpack for the homeless shelter, and I need to drop it off at some point.

I've contacted a number of charities about some white goods and furniture that I'd like to donate, but I appear to be out of the collection area for ALL of them. I've put the details up on FB and the small items have been claimed, but the two freezers and the dresser will probably end up going to the tip (along with the old cooker once the new one is in and working!).

If anyone wants an under-counter freezer or a 100cm dresser, feel free to drop round...
