2019 - A Clutter Free Life

Didn't get as much sorted over the weekend as I would have liked but did manage to add about 6 items of clothing to the donation pile. Had a charity bag through the door on Saturday with Collection on Monday so all the clothes ended up in there and have now gone.
I also managed to declutter a vase that I actually liked and used. I knocked it off the shelf in the understair cupboard
Cleared out a couple of OOD food items and 2 chocolate advent calendars. I ended up with 5 last year. The chocolate was still in date so that has been consumed over the last few days.
Needed to stop sorting things out so I could declutter the ice from my freezer as when I went to put something in it I couldn't close the top shelf. All done and inventory of 4 out of the 6 drawers has been made. I will look at the other 2 in a few days time.
I have tacked a day onto my bank holiday weekend as my Mum is coming to help me sort out my remaining 2 bedrooms. Hope to report lots gone next week.
Happy decluttering allThat money talks I don't deny, I heard it once, it said "Goodbye"0 -
I also feel inspired reading this thread so have had a productive day decluttering, though back to work tomorrow after holiday to Disney(boohoo)
1-3 footwear in good condition put in charity shop bag
4-7 coats and shirt in good condition put in charity shop bag.
8- 21 -old, past it make up put in bin.
Wow, over 20 items, I hadn't realised.
Cleaned the worktops, marble fireplace etc with Zoflora Lavender, love the fresh, clean smell.
New recipe every week.
Made poached eggs and hollandaise sauce with salmon and asparagus fried in butter. The hollandaise sauce congealed, though still tasted ok. Know what I did wrong so will attempt next week again.Money SPENDING Expert0 -
Dear Mrs SD,
Thank you for the encouragement. I have always been taking things to the charity shop and decluttering but somehow things are worse and I've got rid of the easy/easier things.
Do I keep hair spray in case I go somewhere I need to 'do' my hair... and how many years does it really last?
Should i throw out multiple clothes when they fit and are wearable or put to one side?
Supplies of hair/make up brushes unopened which I'm unlikely to use but have 21 year old (who has no money but doesn't want things currently( and a 15 year old who hasn't got into these things yet/
21-27 Old sheets, and fabric to cat shelter
28-32 bowls etc for recycling
32-34 clothes for CS
35 wii balance board not working (although inherited one which does work
36- 37 Yoga block and arch
38 charade game for CS
Not brave enough to get rid of the amount of things I need to get rid of to help me find things.
I have been put some things in more sensible places - i question why and how some things got where they were, and clearly means they won't be found and more acquired.
Like seeing how people are decluttering so so muvh.0 -
TC77 - I found that when I started I decluttered an area and moved on to another area but when you go back to somewhere you have previously decluttered it is easier to move more stuff out of the house.
With clothes I took a fresh look at them and kept one's I would wear again but all the well worn clothes went to recycling bin or cut up for rags. Some tips and jeans were relegated to gardening only too. I now wear a new wardrobe of clothes as know what I have.
925-926 moisturizer samples used up.
927-928 slippers in poor condition binned.0 -

TC77, I found the Marie Kondo method really useful when I first started in helping to decide what to keep and also what order to tackle things. It has had the added advantage of helping me to not bring more stuff into my home.
Today's decluttering:-

Decluttering at Dad's today. His old microwave out and new one in, all packaging recycled. He did try to give me a lurpak toast rack, but I said no thanks
I don't need anymore stuff to clutter up my cupboards. I knew it would never be used and I felt quite proud of myself
. Only trouble is he put it back in his cupboard so I expect I'll be the one having to get rid of it eventually anyway :rotfl:.
Take care all
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0
