    182 - Three things sold & posted.

183 - Bag of rubbish gleaned from upstairs dumped.

186 - three wheelbarrows - yes, wheelbarrows filled with plasterboard off-cuts and taken up the track to the bin.

189 - 3 big boards smashed up for firewood & in bunker.

These were all from upstairs build & OH had just chucked them out of the window, so I thought it was about time they were dealt with.

Very cloudy all day, but very hot when the sun managed to break through :) So much for getting back on the Decluttering Bandwagon :o. I made a little wiggle room in the freezer - 3 portions of cottage which we had for dinner with loads of green beans. Rest of the day has been spent doing competition entries, reading magazines & clearing down my planner. I have just watched the 1st episode of Downton Abbey & am hooked. Only 2, maybe 3 likeable characters so far & the rest all a bit catty/nasty ;) vague memories of Upstairs, Downstairs ;)
DH & DSis have completed the flooring in the hallway - made difficult by there not being a single right angle

2150 - 2161 Newspaper, 2 magazines, foil box, 2 cardboard boxes, glass bottle, cardboard packaging, 3 drinks cans, empty beer can - Recycled
2162 - 2163 Bag of kitchen detritus, small bag of shredding - Binned

Hello to all the new declutterers.

Been away for several weeks and the place stayed in was lovely and clutter free. A big contrast with home which is full of boxes and stuff (the boxes came out of the loft before went away). It was good to experience living without things and not missing them. This will make it easier to be ruthless.

Will be going away again in September for a couple of months and don't want to come back to such a mess next time. The spiders have moved in and the whole place feels dirty and uncared for. So, big incentive to get cleared and cleaned up.

This week will need to be spent on catching up with post and general clearing the kitchen so basics such as cooking and eating can take place.

Tax return needs to be done before going away again as don't like leaving it to the last minute which means the filing cabinet will get its annual clearout. Also, now have a bureau desk on loan from a friend so can empty big desk and get rid to give me some space back in my living room.

    Exciting times :j.

  • You know how it is, you have a cupboard full of shoes but wear the same few day in day out.
So I’ve decided to wear a pair at home to break them in.....many of my shoes have been bought for me by my partner, but after breaking ankles and a bit of arthritis some are no longer suitable.
So today I thought I’d go back to older shoes and wear them around the house, the first pair seemed fine until I stood up! So one pair for the recycle/charity.
I’ve put another pair on which I bought for my May holiday and needless to say didn’t wear them much as they weren’t broken-in.
  • A lady came for some of mum's items, she had been previously and she brough some flowers for me aahhh. Another lady came for 1 item and ended up with a box full of glasses, tumblers and matching wine, very thin glass - lovely. She even took a large floor vase which I have not used for years. She then came back with a chair for me to try in my shower. The gentlemen did not come back on the bras, several enquiries but then size is always a problem (they are big). I think some-one said that you can take to M & S or there is another charity which sends to Africa or some-thing, I would sooner something like that rather than just take to CS although selling would be preferential. Can anyone help me please?

Evening everyone. You are all so inspiring.:T

I have pottered on today and worked mainly downstairs making it tidyish for the service visit tomorrow. Most of the downstairs is not too bad to be honest except for the front/sewing room which is in perpetual chaos. DH will be out tomorrow at work so while waiting for the gas to arrive I'm going to attack this room.

Tonight I'm going to have another sort in DS's room. Yesterday he sorted some toys and books for the charity shop.:j I'm hoping to keep going at a steady pace and fingers crossed the house and garden will be completely decluttered by Christmas. I did say this last year before the SHTF.

It's so nice to wander around the house and having it starting to look normal.

    Have a fab night all.x

    Hi All
Good news! my living room is clutter free:j
Also I have created a little den for me to chill in and read in a previous storage room:j
Bad news is my study is a bit of a 'room of doom' with transit stuff , happily it has a destination to go to:T Need to keep momentum and work on that.
    Nannywindow Thank you :)
Parsnip head - Thank you , i feel i should stand and say 'iam am picklepot i am a recovering clutterbug':rotfl:
Mrs SD Last time i had a skip, a man asked if he could dip in and help himself, he did and i was able to get skip filled again. (probably 2 skips for price of one!) what he took out would have been hassle to fix , sell etc for me.

I too would love to know the answer to your bra question. Having experienced the joy of having a properly fitted sensible bra(which i swear kept me from having to go to breast clinic with pain) , i cannot go back to my previous type. Like Teresa dunnewith her shoes (good idea teresa!) i have been wearing them around the house and i cannot go back despite them being barely worn and pretty.

    Hi All

    How are you?

I have been MIA for the week but despite being manic at work I am still managing a small declutter. Also had my mid-year appraisal and very very happy with that.

1058 - Cat to CS, wooden one not real
1059 - Some gadget, no idea what to CS
1060 - Venetian blind sold on FB - only £10 but it has been cluttering the spare bedroom for almost 4 years
1061 - 1062 - 2 tarpaulins sold on FB £27, messed up on the postage but still made something
1063 - Used reed diffuser bottle to glass recycling
