The pub hotel was rather unprepossessing from the outside BUT our room is lovely - Large & well decorated (added bonus we can see our bike from the window :T ) + the bathroom is large with a large walk in shower. We both had a lovely warm shower & the hotel gained even more brownie points - HUGE towels & the softest dressing gowns ever :rotfl: I was in seventh heaven & did not want to get dressed for dinner :rotfl:

A good afternoon for me.
I managed to declutter a bunch of broken pots from the garden plus removed and threw out two rusted through window boxes.
I also decluttered a load money at the farm shop.

I only got home at 7, so just a quick update
906 - 2.5 lbs decluttered at SW
907 - Light fitting to dustbin
908-910 - used tea lights to bin
911-912 - destroyed dog toys to bin, we have a Border Terrier Cross so his instinct is to kill everything. We only ever buy cheap toys
913-920 - More cardboard boxes flat packed and to recycling
920/20190 -
117 - Four things in charity bag after opened cat/dogs cupboard & a heap of things fell out that are no longer used - ended up cleaning it out.
119 - two things binned.0 -
Just a quick one. Another unplanned decluttering session after putting DS to bed.
I have sorted a load of recycling and put it out. Bagged up more rubbish from the garden, potted up a plant I got today and swept by the back door. It's a little too dark now to carry on so I've come in. I always get so much more done when it's unplanned.
Roll on tomorrow. :T1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

Evening all, I'm now back from a relaxing holiday, unfortunately most of the stressful stuff I was trying to declutter is still here
. Hey ho the only way is up........... hopefully :rotfl:
On a positive note, we were lucky to return home just before the green waste bin was being emptied, so I managed to get rid of a bin full :j. Alas though, the garden has exploded during my absence, so the bins will soon will be full again.
Lots of washing needed to be decluttered from the washing basket too, 2 already done and 2 more to go tomorrow. Sadly the house looks like a bomb has gone off with all our 'van stuff to be put away, so I will have have to address that this weekend.
I have to declutter some blood tomorrow at the GP surgery as I have an ongoing problem that they are trying to solve. As it's a fasting test it will help me declutter some of the weight I've recluttered on holiday , so no supper tonight !
Hope everyone is well, hugs and healing vibes to you if you're not 100%.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
1. SMALL TASKS WILL BE DONE ASAP
2. I WILL LEAVE A ROOM TIDIER THAN WHEN I ENTERED
3. KITCHEN WILL BE LEFT CLEAN & TIDY EVERY NIGHT
4. WHEN DEALING WITH CLUTTER I WILL USE ‘Daisy1571’s idea of ‘WHAT WOULD I DO WITH THIS ITEM IF IT WAS SOMEONE ELSE’S ?’
5. IF I WAS STARTING FROM SCRATCH, WOULD I BUY THIS?
6. BE LIKE A POSTAGE STAMP - STICK TO ONE THING UNTIL YOU GET THERE
One sad thing about last night’s hotel - the bed was very high & not the most comfortablebut to be perfectly honest a lot of that was negated by me sleeping in the dressing gown :rotfl: A huge Scottish breakfast & we saw Lucy Porter at breakfast
She is tiny
Reception also had a map & note from Susie - showing the 95 mile walk along the West Highland way - how very kind of her :T DH topped up the tank - @ 126.7p you just cannot go wrong
we were packed & on the road by 10:15. It was overcast but dry & the forecast was for NO rain :T Shame no-one told Scotland  We drove up the west coast - stunning scenery but rather obscured by the mist & heavy rain
It would stop raining & brighten up & we would get all excited (it was reasonably warm) thinking the rain was done with :rotfl: how wrong we were
A maximum of 10 minutes at a time with no rain
We drove past Loch Lomond on our way to Inveraray. Managed to get out of the rain for 20 minutes when we stopped for coffee & cake :rotfl: Arrived about 6.00 p.m. - the young lady who checked us in earned a serious amount of brownie points as when we unloaded the bike DH left his camera on the seat in the rain  3 minutes later there was a knock on our door & a soggy camera was handed to DH :T The hotel is another good pick by my DH :T - The Brambles of Inveraray - large bedroom, large bathroom + window overlooking the motorbike :T The bathroom had a claw foot cast iron bath plus a walk in shower. DH used the shower, but I had a bath - another first for me but also a last :rotfl: as the water cools down too quickly
. Walked up to The George - all of 50 yards - had a couple of pints & a delicious dinner. Shared a starter - scallops on fish risotto in a bisque sauce - soooo tasty. DH had pan fried fillet of salmon on noodles - very light & very tasty. I had venison collops with red cabbage & dauphinois potatoes with the most glorious sauce  I do not have the words to describe how delicious it was :rotfl: Apparently the Isle of Dogs was very sunny & warm according to my DSis - so jealous & went even greener because as she was watering the garden the woodpecker turned up WITH a friend
- so we are now a 2 woodpecker household :rotfl: Extra bonus - the bed is comfortable & DH is already snoring :rotfl:
Well Done - villagelife; never too old (you will love Scotland & Glasgow train station is wonderful :rotfl:); amycool; Picklepot - you are doing well; Rootle; taff; choille; Happy Kitties; parsniphead; gilly1964 - congrats on the 2.5lbs :T; excellent work one and all :T:T
Nannywindow, glad you had a relaxing holiday& sorry that the stressful stuff hasn’t taken a permanent holiday:( A few days at home & sadly it will be as if you never went away
:( - so I recommend allowing yourself half an hour with your favourite tipple or maybe just a cup of tea & a biccie with some music or a book away from everyone :rotfl:
Hello & welcome vintageteainmywardrobe :hello: what a superb nameHaven’t tried the minimalists game - I will have to Google. You are so right - it is very easy to get disheartened & overwhelmed
but you have come to the right place & I am very happy that you have found us :T By the way clutter is not a problem just a challenge to be faced :rotfl: One idea is to take a bin bag round to each room & bin the visible rubbish, then a recycling bag for the magazines etc that you have read but haven’t released :rotfl:. Your bedroom sounds like it should be your haven not just a place to sleep - so maybe start there - tidy everything away & clear surfaces. Perhaps you can create a corner where you can sit & read.
The being brutal can be a way to go but I know I could never do that as if I failed my Clutter would be worse than when I started. Maybe start by not letting anything else into your home apart from food
However you start let us know how you are getting on - we can offer ‘virtual’ encouragement and ideas galore. Remember you have taken 4 years to get ‘unconsciously’ cluttered, it will take a while to ‘consciously’ declutter
I am off to Google the minimalist’s game :rotfl:
Goodnight

561 tomato seedlings to a neighbour, a friend DS2 girlfriend.
Very slow progress but still stuff leaving the house and I'm not buying stuff for the house.0
