    A very successful weekend

921 Privacy room for our motor home sold - kerching
922 - 975 various remote model car bumph from the shed sold - more kerching and a quarter of the shed freed up

Almost £600 into the coffers

Friends round for a BBQ yesterday, so much alcohol has been decluttered

    976-977 vodka bottles to recycling
    978 gin bottle to recycling
    979 - 980 wine bottles to recycling
    981-1003 various cans to recycling
1004 - 1011 various plastic bottles to recycling
    1012 - 1022

    1023 - 1024 cardboard to recycling

I feel a little like I have cheated but none of this would have been part of our normal household waste; or rather it might have been but not in a weekend :rotfl:

Have a great week all xxx

An attack of tidying this weekend has led to some bits and pieces going. Rootle, thank for the reminder, I chucked a broken plastic spoon!
    678 a broken spoon
679 a few jigsaw pieces (puzzles probably long gone)
    680b a curled up recipe
681/2 a couple of plastic wrappers
683/4 two contact lens cases for a type of lens I've not used in years
    685/6 two catalogues
687 the remains of a pack of cards
    688 magazine
689 out of date health book
    690/3 leaflets
    694 twisted paperclips
    695-710 pieces of paper
711 garden rubbish to the tip
    712 battered nailbrush
    713 useless lid
    714 dirty dust sheets
    715 broken plant pot
    717 another catalogue
718 bramble twigs meant for kindling but not getting used

That's it for now, have a good week everyone. :)

Sunday did not start off auspiciously :( We left Invergordon in the rain :( but after 20 minutes it stopped & apart from a couple of short showers the day was dry & quite warm. Overcast then blue skies & lots of sunshine then overcast again then clear - I think you get the picture :rotfl:
We went round Cromarty but no seals :( then onto Kinloss where we saw ‘Duke of Edinburgh’ Nimrod& stopped for a coffee in a pub in Findhorn. Then onto Alford & from there to Dundee & have finished up in Limekilns near Dunfermline. We are staying in a Bistro Hotel called Limekilns, Large Room with a view over the harbour. The only unfortunate thing is that we are on the top floor - lots of stairs & DH & I are definitely not the fittest of people:rotfl: Dinner was in th3 bistro - shared a starter of haddock & leek fishcakes with a bit of salad & tartare sauce - absolutely scrumptious  DH had chicken, mushroom & leek riso in a Parmesan & cream sauce - yummy 🤤 & I had mushroom risotto with added chicken - tasty but not as nice as DH’s dinner :(. We had a couple of beers 🍺 & because we had no lunch, we treated ourselves to afters :T DH had sticky toffee pudding mmmmmmm & I had ice cream drizzled with espresso & a glut of amaretto :rotfl: Soooo tasty 😋. It is now blowing a hoolie but we are safely ensconced :D Sad to say it is our last night in Scotland , tomorrow we are heading back into England & will be staying just outside Newcastle.

Highlights of the day: Vintage tractor parade - at least 50 of them on a single track road; the near miss with the deer 🦌- she waited until there were no cars going either way on the A96 & decided to cross right in front of us & slipped on the wet tarmac  - fortunately we weren’t going very fast & she didn’t stop :T however almost close enough to touch  ; seeing a huge cruise liner called Crown Princess.
Wildlife for today:- various types of cows & sheep, horses, ponies, donkeys, deer :rotfl:, seagulls, jackdaws, swallows.
Unfortunately today was a sad day - 2 squashed hedgehogs, a squashed rabbit, a dead pheasant being eaten by a raven & a deed sheep lying flat on its back feet up in the air in a stream :(

Well Done - villagelife; Barney1979; Rootle :rotfl:; gilly1964 - congrats on all the pennies :T are you absolutely certain you had friends round - hic :rotfl:; Cherryfudge; - you have all been keeping busy :T
Daisy 1571, thanks for the invite - unfortunately only skirting Edinburgh - maybe next time ;)

    See you all tomorrow

f] your house is not a storage unit - if you all you are doing is rearranging clutter and putting it into boxes you aren't really decluttering. Think of how your forebears coped with only one cupboard in the kitchen. Take the plunge, let it go to someone else who will love it and use it. [promptly has Frozen song in head for the rest of the day - that I will NEED to declutter

Hello everyone, haven't logged on for a few weeks but I am still decluttering.

TamsinC - thank you for this wake up call - it describes exactly what I have done for the past few decades, 'rearranged' I am now on a path to enlightenment after finding this thread and actually getting around to shifting stuff out of the house.

Over last 3 weeks sorted through and shredded another massive lot of old paperwork and photos, some things dating back to the 90s, which had been shoved into the bottom of my wardrobe (I question why, I think I must've just kept adding things but keeping it all hidden from view so I could forget about it and not deal with it).

Wardrobe clear out so 3 bagfuls of clothes, shoes, handbags into recycling or charity shop.

Have also taken a few of my grandmother's ornaments to the charity shop, sold a couple too so bought a new Portmeiron jug I had been after for a while with the proceeds. Feel better about that, I can look at something I like and enjoy which will remind me of her, rather than carrying around a huge box of her stuff which I would never use, I have had this for over 2 decades and it's been through 5 house moves with me. This was major decluttering for me. Still have a few bits I am trying to sell but if they don't I feel happy to pass them on to a charity shop.

Do weeds from the garden count? Sadly as fast as I declutter these they reappear.

I am going to be really busy at work for the next few weeks so will just concentrate on smaller tasks and maintaining the areas I have cleared so far.

I will be near the bypass later today so will give a wave in case you are passing Mrs sd.

Such useful posts recently. I'm off to decide if I am sorting, organising or just rearranging.

Not managing much actual decluttering at the moment as laying a flagstone floor ourselves - hubby has been cutting to size whilst I fiddle paddle with layout, we want it to look random, but need to plan that randomness so it doesn't look too planned :rotfl: However it does means that the forty something flagstones have been decluttered from the shed to the living room floor. [not that it counts really]

In the meantime - we sold a HUGE Yukka plant that was in the garden, it didnt suit the rest of the planting and, as long as the person dug it up, we were only chasing a tenner. It gave us two baby plants and some sprouting rhizome as well so they will be potted up and sold on too, though they have temporarily ADDED to the 'stuff'.
I've decided that planning is good enough though. If they don't sell, fairly sure they will, they will get given away on popped on the compost heap. I plan a lot for when the living room is done - all bookcases etc are under dust sheets and inaccessible so I can't sort out. It is very annoying but the end is in sight.

Welcome vintageteainmywardrobe Another one who gets overwhelmed here. I will never be a minimalist but I can stop collecting clutter. Lots of good advice here for you (and me :o )

I doubt I will ever be too and yes, I am loving reading back on everyone. All the tips are great and by golly a lot of stuff has been removed, I am beyond amazed!
Welcome, new people (vintageteainmywardrobe, there should be some sort of award for your choice of name! I am sure that when you part the clothing, there is a Narnia-like opening to a sunny lawn with a white-painted cast iron table set with dainty china and dappled shade under huge majestic trees).

Oh doesn't that sound idyllic! If only!! If there is one place I don't need to declutter it's my clothing, I happily share t-shirts with the other half and only own one pair of jeans for the weekends, if I was skinner I'd wear cords as I have a thing against Jeans. Skinny jeans make me shudder and I hope to god the faze goes away, in hindsight I should of bought all the boyfriend jeans I could of done! I do have a couple of dresses and petticoats for work though. Hoping one day to fit into proper vintage clothing and not just vintage look clothing.

I haven't actually managed to get into my minimalist game yet, I was going to start on the 1st but it's TT week over here and I've been out watching the races or walking around looking at motorbikes till the early morning  so haven't even had time to look at the house :rotfl:. Thankfully I can start at any time so once this week is over and everything goes back to normal (Saturday). I'm going to start my decluttering. Hoping to put a podcast on and spend the whole podcast going through my kitchen as the first port of call and then move to the horrors of horrors our lounge :eek:. There is a lot that needs to be done here, and I'm just so inspired by everyone here!!
