I am in selling envious mode - you all do so well :A

So forgot to mention 2 parcels posted yesterday and have 2 for today. :) Plans for today, I have 2 rooms, and not sure what to call them, as they are both a state - tardis, room of doom(s), holding bay, not sure, so will make a start and hopefully by some time in the day I will know what to call them :rotfl:apart from the obvious :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

It's actually quite easy to find things that can be quickly decluttered, means there must be too many of them!

  • Good afternoon everyone!!

Mrs SD - is the round Britian Rally the motorbike one? If so my dad used to do that when he rode a bike and was the one that started the starting event :) he doesn't do it any more as he doesn't ride but used to have a lot of fun and met some nice people while doing it.

Parsnip - Glad to hear about the pips

It's been a while (again!) I'm sorry! My DS has his op on Monday and has got an infection from it so I've not been online much so now just going to catch up.

Still settling into the new house and still decluttering!! Sold some bits on FB and SP and put some more bits on but not much interest will lower prices and leave for another week or so and if they don't go will take up to Charity shop.

Do people get more luck with selling on Ebay?

Have got to declutter the shed too and because me being stupid forgot to put the bins out yesterday means yet another tip run (I'll become a regular!) :rotfl::rotfl:

    Good afternoon one and all.
Chocolate lover - I don't use eBay, I prefer to do face to face (boot fairs) or a second hand shop. Things can't get lost in the post then.
I have been spending the day. CLeaning and decluttering (again)

So far I have: cleaned the windows with my new e cloths. All you need is water. For the first time I have smear free windows and patio doors.
Washed the blind in the bathroom.
3 loads of washing (includes a mat as hubby stepped on Fox poo and brought it into the house).

I have swapped my winter and summer wardrobe around. The clocks go forward this weekend and hubby and I are soon off on our hols to Dubai and Japan (bucket list), so the summer clothes will be needed. I have decluttered a couple of tops, a pair of boots and a pair of jeans.
Have hoovered the wardrobe - removing hair and fluff.

    Off to do some more...

Has anyone else been watching 'Renovate don't Relocate' with Sarah Beeny (Really channel)?

She says "It really came from the fact that years ago I remember going to someone’s house and they were saying, ‘We’ve got to move, we’re so clogged up in our house' ...[People] only live in half or a quarter of their house, squashed for space. So it occurred to me then, if you actually just make your home work harder for you, you could end up with a bigger house."

In one episode (Sophia & Rob) the smart cameras showed that the 'ironing room' was not used once for ironing in ten days, just as a dumping ground ... and they kept losing things in the clutter. All very familiar. :rotfl:

Thank you Wanna Be Free! Ooooh yes a woo is a very apt name!

I keep wanting to stop and congratulate people on all these wonderful achievements! Alas the thread would then be cluttered with my comments so please just imagine me waving the pompoms and yelling enthusiastically. :j:j:j

A quick special thanks, though, to Droopy 61 for the book recommendation: it looks tempting (and helpful) - I'm just worrying about adding to my 70 or so unfinished Kindle books, not to mention all the paper ones.

I can recommend an excellent publication to help with de-cluttering. It's titled "Buried in Treasures" published by the Oxford University Press. It's certainly helped me.

So today: six oddments of paper/broken small plastic toys. One envelope of ancient ballot results (!): I found these at Mum's house and am pretty sure nothing on them constitutes anything but a potential breach of data protection so they went on the fire. A box that used to hold craft supplies: the remaining bits are binned or redistributed and the box had split. A calendar. Total 9.

I now have my list of decluttereds from when I was working on Mum's old house so here they are, in date order to help me keep track:

19th:broken phial, plastic picnic glass, handful of leaflets, cassette box. Total 4

20th: pyrex jug (damaged), 2 or 3 handfuls of paper (how to count that? Say 2), 2 newspapers, a rain hat, 3 plastic bags, a notebook, several leaflets, 3 magazines. Total 14

21st: large handful of papers, 5 plate hangers, small plant stand, 23 dud pens, 21 pen lids (yes, I'm afraid I counted :D), broken button, safety pin, belt buckle, small box of stale photographic paper, old bottle of fabric conditioner, a wheelie bin full of old cardboard, 6 dates boxes, 2 mattresses, handful of lolly sticks, rusty scissors, 3 tins of unfit food. Total 70

22nd: glass bottle, cleaning fluid bottle. Total 2

I'm now going to declutter the list from my notebook :D

Grand total 100 (yes, exactly that :) ).

Spring must be in the air with all the decluttering. I agree with the Woo factor. Having had to host family all of a sudden a few weeks ago I had no shame because of the work done in the months before. What a relief not to have to race around cleaning and clearing.

My Little Sister is a hoarder and has started clearing her substantial pile. I have been helping where I can but she lives in Portsmouth and me in Derby. The last few times we have been it has been to take a small number of bags away but also fix her bed, put up a curtain rail and and put up a flatpack set of draws. Not long afterward her bedroom window broke, don't know why, but the coucil could easily get to her window to fix it. It is definitely worth the effort. :T

On another note. DSis who died recently had just moved house and had got rid of a lot of stuff already, happily. Just 20 plus boxes of paperwork to sort through and I am getting help with this.

In light of this I am even more determined to get rid of my hoard ( I admit it :o) too. I took two bags to the CS yesterday and a bag to the allotment of more reusables and recyclables

So total is now 29/60 bags. :)

We have just emptied the spare room so DH can decorate this weekend. This was so much easier due to all the decluttering done so far this year.
Had a bit of a wow moment I won £50 on the town lottery!!
I am spending the day listing more items for sale.
Chupa I have sales envy your sales are certainly motivating me to list lots of items.

    Hello fellow declutterers :hello:

It seems everyone is getting on fabulously :T.
I have been decluttering behind the fridge / freezer, as there seemed to be a funny smell coming from behind it ( think really whiffy cheese _pale_ ). I thought something may have fallen behind it and I asked DH to pull it out from the wall. Anyway the smell turned out to be emanating from the condenser, so DH has cleaned it and all the pipes. Et Voila ! it smells lovely and fresh now. Meanwhile I took the opportunity to sweep the walls, clean the floor and skirting boards of dust.
I found lurking in the walk in cupboard a double duvet ( hardly used ) which I washed in the bath doing the grape treading dance :rotfl:. I am not going to declutter it though, because I want to add some poppers and turn it into a single mattress topper to go on the spare bed :j.
I have also started to tidy the garden and I have 2 green waste bins choc-a-bloc full and ready for the first collection of this year on Tuesday. I think it's going to be an uphill struggle as I seem to have let things go lately, but I am determined to get things under control thanks to you lot :A.
Sending healing vibes to the poorly people and gentle hugs to anyone in need.
    nan xx
