Never buy cheap binbags!
An extra couple of pence per bag means you'll never have to pickup semi-decomposed horribleness off the floor, after your cheap bag split as you tried to wrestle it out of the kitchen bin.
Charity shops give lovely big binbags away free.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

They have holes in and are even thinner than the ones mentioned by mcfly998.
I certainly wouldn't refer to them as 'lovely'.0 -
Douwe Egberts Coffee
Fairy Liquid
Cif Bathroom spray
and.......never ever buy supermarket petrol
P.S. forgot the Radley handbags#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660 -
Great thread
Did some downshifting recently and definitely noticed a big difference between in a couple of items, namely oats and peanut butter. Will make exceptions for some items, but those definitely not going forward!0 -
Marmite is the only thing I can think of. Send all your cheap gin and tonic and thin toilet rolls my way if you don't want them. The septic tank hates quilted and I would love some cheap gin.
Supermarket petrol? I've heard the myths but also read research that there's little difference and that modern cars run perfectly well on Morrison's petrol. Though of course I have a Hyundai i10 not an E-type porsche ferrari X310 4wd or whatever an expensive sports car is called. I wouldn't be on these boards if I did - I'd sell it and buy a mansion instead.
I don't understand why own brand yeast extract can be so wrong but I've tried a few and they're grainy, almost crunchy with a really off taste. Ugh. Ok in the curry though.
Interesting thread - a bit strange and different from the usual on here - it just shows how we all view 'moneysaving' in different ways.

I now prefer Lidls Mayo, and Ketchup to any other brand, I also like their loo roll ( septic tank cant get too plush a paper). Most other stuff I just buy whats value for money that week0 -

That's strange. I find the branded oats like Scotts and Quaker are far too refined for my taste.;) I prefer the coarser texture of Aldi own brand.0
