We have had a very relaxed day. Went to my sister's for a buffet lunch and exchange presents, first time in about 15 years we haven't hosted Christmas day, I could happily get used to this, so much less stress.
We had been invited to an evening celebration but turned this down as some are still suffering with a cold and the rest of us are tiring easily so we are trying to pace ourselves. Instead we spent the evening at home opening presents and enjoying a simple tea of HM bread and home cooked ham.
CCL I pleased you and the children have had an enjoyable day and are building new positive traditions.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Love hearing about everyone's Christmases (yes, I am nosy
)
Up early this morning as we are making the trek to DD1's for the day
Had a nice day yesterday, did lunch for 7, which was made easier by reconfiguring the furniture a bit - pulled dining table out of small dining room into large loungeWill definitely do that again if feeding more than a couple of extra people. Our house has a slightly odd layout, being originally a 2 up 2 down cottage which has had various bits built on (and up), and I have always struggled to decide how best to arrange downstairs. DD2 and GD turned up in their Christmas pyjamas which apparently they couldn't bear to get out of :rotfl:Wonder what they will wear today?
Will do breakfast for OH, brother (who is staying for Christmas) and I shortly, then aim to head off by about 10am. Must remember to get presents, food contributions and the dog's travelling crate organised in good time. No spends planned for the rest of the week, at least - we won't be visiting the sales, and don't need to go to the supermarket as we have plenty of food!
Hope you all have an enjoyable Boxing Day0 -
Morning
Good to hear that you've had nice festive times
Today I'm looking forward to more of the same, albeit quieter as just the 3 of us. We are looking after the parental's dog today & tomorrow. We'll see how we do as a 2 dog family! I will take pup out for a walk in a minute before oh goes and picks her up.
* I've had a swish round the kitchen and it's spick and span
* We're intending to do some crafting & play with babies. We'll go for a big walk this afternoon.
* need to do some washing & sort out madam's room
* food will be from massive stores!
I am going to carve out an hour of peace at some point to do some sewingDF as at 30/12/16

Morning all :hello: we too are having a quiet day after a busy houseful yesterday. Which was lovely and we all got some lovely gifts. But I'm looking forward to a relaxing day today.
I need to check fridge and see if anything needs freezing
Quick tidy round and a load or two of washing just to keep on top of it
Also planning a run for some fresh air, but other than that it'll be jigsaws, lego and relaxing playing a few games.
Hope everyone has a good day. Purps.0 -
Today's plans are very relaxed, playing games, building Lego and going to watch the pantomime...... Oh, yes we are
The meal plan is equally relaxed, think empty the fridge and help yourself, I may make broccoli soup if people show interest, if not another day.
I will wash my hair and let it dry naturally, is there any other way.
The turkey stock will be strainned and reduced, so it will fit in the freezer.

Evening everyone :hello:
It's been lovely reading about what you've all been up to the past couple of days.
I used to hate Boxing Day as a kid, but I have enjoyed today. I didn't even get dressed :rotfl: just showered and changed my pj's. Managed to get lots of relaxing done, completely avoided online sales and spent a bit of quality time with the kids and cats.
I have also: cooked up the food for Boxing Day Dinner (which was a roast), made good progress with my latest crochet project, drank lots of gin and slept on the sofa for a bit.
Nothing much to report, which is kind of how I like it.Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Agreed! Big clean up planned here, and no shopping / spending apart from mobile phone bill which I see has gone out by Direct Debit this morning! And that was for the princely sum of £10.26.
OH has been paid for some items that he sold, so need to discuss what he intends for this money (minus the percentage I shall put away for income tax of course). He has no immediate plans for this money, so I transferred it to an interest paying account. Conversation shifted to plans for the upcoming year. My priorities are to replace the worn and grotty stair carpet on the lower stairs in the house, and to reboard the rest of the large raised bed in the garden. Ovbviously the stairs will cost a lot more than the boarding, for which we will only need to buy the materials and OH will do it, and I will help. Also to look at this current year's expenditure and plan the budget for 2019  I was way over for the current yearmainly due to expenses arising from ill health, vehicle repairs, and having to help out a relative financially to get them on their feet. At least we had the money to cover it, though our savings took a battering  I am determined that next year's budget will be realistic and factor in an amount for unknown circumstances. Will look at new spreadsheet again!
But apart from that, I need to clean the bathroom and kitchen and wash their floors, strip the bed in the spare bedroom as my brother has now returned to his own flat, and sort out the food situation now the celebrations are over. One thing is certain - there is plenty of it! We don't do waste here, so I need to plan properly what to do with it. That is a reasonable target to aim for - sadly I no longer have the energy to start at one end of the house and work my way to the other, and have to spread the housework over a couple of days when it needs a really good sort outThough OH may help, in which case I will get more done
Back later to update (so that I am accountable), but in the meantime, I hope everyone has a good day, especially those who have to go back to w*rk today
OH helped with the housework (no reason why it shouldn't be shared, as we both live here!) However, it seems to mainly fall to me since I retired from my job. Must think about this, as we are both retired and there is no reason not to share the responsibility just as we did when both working.
Checked food, and all is ok - but there is a lot of it  I fell into the trap of buying too muchIt is a bit difficult when one doesn't know exactly how many one will be feeding, and when.... However, it will all get used eventually, and NONE will be wasted!
Cheese, biscuits and fruit for lunch, and it will be cold meat, jacket potato and salad for dinner tonight, all from stores.
Nothing spent today
No spends planned for tomorrow!0 -
Morning
feeling a little fuzzy after the excesses of the last few days! Intending to return to not being so excessive today! We have guest tomorrow so a spruce up is on the cards.
We're looking after the dog our inlaws are looking after for a week. She is a little old lady and the combination with a 6 month old springer pup has been a bad one! He wants to play and she is now telling him to get knotted every time he moves! :rotfl:
Things for me today:
* dog walks x 2
* make a turkey curry with los for tomorrow
[STRIKE]* divide up lo turkey and decide what to do with it - maybe a soup?[/STRIKE] have done this. Got enough for turkey baguettes, a curry for 8 so will have a *free* dinner in Jan, a soup and 140 grms frozen for something undecidedas well as xmas dinner for 5, 2 rounds of christmas dinner sandwiches, and 11 portions of christmas dinner soup
* do the 2 sewing jobs I have. Cut the fabric of a dress I am being paid to repair and test the scraps for tension etc before hemming. I'd also like to sew up one of my outstanding refashions but don't know how I'll be for time...
* think I'll take madam out to the park and let her run off some steam
* more playing of games/toys/crafting with madam
* contact my db and wish him happy holidays and find out how it was for him and the fam
* soak some pinto beans so I can use up one of the pumpkins I have
* hang up washing & do another load
Ok that's all. Hope you're all having lovely festive times still!DF as at 30/12/16
