Wow, just read one of those annoying emails in my online banking account inbox.... Halifax are giving me £110.84!! for period jan 16 - nov 17 when I went into an un-arranged overdraft, they used to charge a daily fee but not let me know i had gone into an uu-arranged overdraft...

Wow... £110.84, I feel like I've won the lottery! Might pop it towards a trip to the USA to see friends which I hope to do at some point this year, very doubtful though x

Why is fun spending so easy to do, paying debts bills so boring?

That is the most practical thing to do, I will pop it into a savings account and forget about it, won't receive it until end of March, my rent arrears will be zero then if all goes to plan, I can add to it and see where I am at. And thank you, I am fed up with the sofa, hoping to venture out tomorrow...

Does anyone else have a mini heart attack/feel sick when they look at the next 10 years or 20 years?

Today at work a chap is planning on leaving and going self employed after 1st May, his final mortgage payment. He is a year older than me! I'm like !!!!!!, I live in social housing and would love to have my own home with a little garden and know once I retire I will not have to pay rent, yes I realise there are other cost's to owning a home than those to living in social housing.

Also I did a pension spreadsheet yesterday to see what I will get from my various workplace pensions and state, I realise it is only a rough idea, but if I was to retire tomorrow, I would get £6,784.35pa or £565.36 a month, less than I was getting on Universal Credit... which was impossible to exist on let alone do the things I hope to do when retire, namely pina colada's on a boat in the sunshine somewhere!

I have just over 20 years to sort this out, how the hell do I go about this? Why are homes priced at such ridiculous prices? (I live in Surrey). What can I do today to make my tomorrow even better than it is? ok step one get out of debt, step 2 is? and 3, 4, 5? I guess this might be a 20 step program?

I am single with no dependents, I honestly thought I would have my ducks in a row by now!

Any advice/ideas will be greatly receive... going to find a brown paper bag to breathe into.... maybe I should start doing the lottery?

Edited for the correct figures, I remembered incorrectly and this is the article I based my pension figures on:
