You've done well, really one of my friends dads just had this and was signed off for 6 weeks, lost about 3 stone, was very ill.

Did you not qualify for SSP ? Not that it’s much

Wow 6 weeks, I feel for him 2 weeks was bad enough! I know you can die from food poisoning. Knew this years ago. I only lost 500g which I think I have put back on as been hungry since Tuesday this week

Not sure if I do, week one I already had the Tue booked off as a Hol day, then the 2nd week I did go in for 4 hours on the Monday then got sent home. I went in as had a feeling my boss did not believe me. I did however get a tax rebate both weeks of £48 ish which has paid food/fuel.

Also I get tax working credits and I am sure I will get some on 10th and that will be more than the SSP

  • Gosh my lovely debt free diary. I've come so far yet still so far to go..

Little update, I have a job I absolutely love and have had said job for 2 years and 2 months now. I get paid regularly, pay could be better but must not grumble. I am also sad to report I am still in debt, not as much as 7k where I was, it is now £2,498.11. I have also cleared the Very account and lowered the credit amount to £150, I now buy something pay it off and then buy next thing rather than splurge all at once. A friend let me the money to clear one of the credit cards off, they sent out a settlement letter and I mentioned it to him and he offered. I have paid him back fully. He then went onto lend me a 2nd amount to pay off another bill, currently mid paying him back.

    My current affairs are;
    Friend - £700.00
    Capital one - £415.66
    Barclay Card - £968.45
    Vets - £320.00
    Very - £94.00

Capital one will be moved over to Barclays zero % asap. It is mainly silly stuff, fancy dress outfit, specsavers, and a few Christmas presents/bits

Barclay Card - Car MOT & Service a balance transfer from another CC and a vet bill

Vets - self explanatory - poor pet has cancer and had to have tests etc now is on medication, as soon as we hit pain/comfort quality of life, I'm calling it a day. Vet is hopeful he will live out his days naturally. He is happy and his usual self, I am his butler!

Very - pair of hiking boots and a top

I am so close yet so far hoping to be 100% debt free by Christmas 2025

I have also got into good habits, I set up one of those help to save government accounts and put £50.00 in each month, its coming up to maturing. I'll pop money into a savings account of some sort and continue to add £50.00 each month. I have a pension with work, I pay 15% in and work pay 10%, this is adding up nicely. Some months I do think I should lower my part, but I am old and will need it in the future. I also try and get to Pilates once a week. Been going for a year now and have noticed a huge difference, its matt Pilates, I'd love to try reformer one day.

I am dancing more when I look at my figures rather than worrying or sticking my head in the sand. At the moment I am in a good place and can see the end of the tunnel :)

Finally I am out of debt

I made the final payment yesterday, (£2,057.00) I do feel I cheated a wee bit as I crashed the car and used some of the insurance pay out to clear the final credit card bill. I have brought a cheap run around to see me through for a year or so, and am living within my means.

The journey hasn't been easy, I've reached low figures for something to happen and the amount owed jump up again. Even last month the amount owed went up by £383, as put an airbnb booking onto the credit card, which is all paid off

I now have £200 extra a month to go into savings

Now to enjoy not worrying about paying debts, watching my savings grow and keeping myself out of debt. any tips to keep out of debt will be appreciated.

Emergency fund currently stands at £150, I will get to 1k

Thanks for reading, all the support and most importantly keep plugging away, the end is there

    Thanks
    Abbie x
