    Good to hear from you.
Glad that you start the new job next week & have moved house.
    Keep plodding  :)
Thank you, I am nervous about Monday, I have not worked a single days since March! yes I tried to get work temp or permanent but to no avail, silly virus got in the way. It is slightly less money than I was on, but I am looking forward to earning again and having a routine :)

  • So excited, I can finally start chipping away at the Credit Card debt. Currently it stands at £1,240.00. I ideally I need to get this to zero before June 2021, as that is when the 0% runs out, I can hopefully switch to another 0%, will start looking April time for another deal.
I am going to update weekly after I've made payments to keep myself focus. :)

I'd go with prepaid mastercard if going to give you 60 on it as you could just use it to buy food shop or something and move the money you'd spend usually off the debt
I assume this will be like a credit card, but with £60.00 on it and more choice as to where to spend the money?

Yes that's exactly what it is.

  • Good luck for Monday. I'm sure you will be great. June is 6 months away or approx 25 weeks so that's £50 a week roughly to have it cleared by then. Maybe try and focus on it like that might seem more manageable.

Spooky, I worked this out today at work, currently have £27 in the bank and on a mission not to spend it, and will send across to the credit card on Thursday along with that weeks £52 (£51.67 rounded up) I can see this become addictive again... Did this with the rent arrears back in Oct - March and cleared those, then had a plan to clear this by Aug alas covid appeared...
Going to go see if there are any debts free challenges I can join to motive me

I cannot wait for Thursday and to give an update, Payday is a Thursday for some reason

  • Good luck with your plan, I imagine it will all work out, you have had some great luck recently and your previous hard work is being rewarded.
    Debt free Feb 2021 🎉
  • Things have not quite gone to plan, but its ok I have plan B!

I am still on emergency tax, have contacted HMRC re this and I know I will get the money back. So am going to make the min payments until the tax id sorted out, then when get the lovely refund, pop all that onto the credit card. I paid £51.40 this week in tax for one week, 27 hours! I am looking at is as a delayed payment plan.

Money is still too tight to mention, but slowly getting there. In other news I have seen a permanent job I would love to do so am in the process of applying for that :)

  • New budget book arrived today :)
Thursday is my last payday of this year, I will paid what needs to be paid and work out how much debt I paid of this year. Won't be as much as I hoped due to covid, but better than nothing and still chipping away. Actually quite excited about seeing just how much I have managed to pay off this year.

  • I've really not had the best of weeks, Tuesday I noticed my pension is now showing up on my halifax account, it appeared like magic. Alas it was not showing a transfer I made back in Sept/Oct. So I went into full panic mode thinking they have lost my money. One phone call later I was reassured it was there and they are sending out a revised statement.

Then today I did not get paid... how the hell can an employer not pay its staff? Turns out we was told on 9th Dec that there will be no payment this week but next week we get paid twice. This just screws up my end of year figures, my working tax credit as goes into the next cycle, my cycle is 4th to the 3rd of the month. There excuse oh there is two bank hols this week, if there are two in one week we don't do payroll. I sarcastically asked if this happens at Easter too, thankfully it does not. It is an absoulte jok and a fast and love to know how they can legally do this.

After telling payroll I will need to get a food bank voucher as have no food, fuel, and 17p in my account I found out I can request a rapid payment, this is 65% of my wage and I will get this Monday before 15.00. I feel so let down by my employer.

On a good note I have my health, mum just took me to Lidl so I have some bubbles for tonight and I have food in the cupboards.

Will update my end of year totals before I open the pop!

  • End of year totals
    Debts:
    Car warranty £200.00
    Tescos c/c £1,215.00
    MBNA c/c £2,885.00
    Virgin c/c £3,026.00

    Total: £7,326.00

I will admit with a heavy heart my Very account has had a battering lately and that is at £603.42 bringing total too £7,929.42.

My debts as of 3rd Jan 2020 were £8,972.49, meaning I paid £1,646.49 off my debts this year, (Not INC VERY) not bad for a year where I lost my job was furlonged then on Uni credit and now back working albeit a low wage.

Plan for 2021, clear as much as I can and clear the Very account :)
