  • I think (!!) all I've got left to do is
Finish wrapping pressies (as explained previously)
Prep the Christmas dinner. - ok this is a biggie, but, I like the fact I only have 2 jobs left and, as I love cooking/baking it's not really a chore. I shall pour my self a large glass of red to lubricate proceedings.

    Merry Christmas everyone.

  • I've had a bath [strike]and avoided more of the terminally boring Christmas stuff from the 80s he's downloaded and insisted upon watching when I would far rather have watched the musicals on telly[/strike].

His present duly perfectly wrapped in tasteful/retro brown paper and twine and placed in front of the felines' scrappy bits of tacky Santa paper.

Himself talked through the process of making bread pudding. Most instructions done out of sequence, but the bread is soaking in tea (with spices and sugar already added???). Suppose 'soak the bread in black chai, once it's cool enough to mix, add the spices, sugar, fruit and egg' wasn't clear enough, as he heard 'put the bread in a bowl, add a cup of tea, the spices and sugar and stop there to await further instruction'.

Himself told that bread sauce is made by infusing milk with half an onion studded with cloves, a bayleaf and a few peppercorns. Milk rescued from the boil, complete with finely chopped onion and lots of herbs. Suppose straining it won't be too hard, but I see I should have defined what studding meant.

He's been persuaded that we really don't need to make the New Year Gammon tonight because [strike]I am not having him wasting 75% of the meat by cooking it all early and then leaving it to go off because it's too much to eat at once[/strike] there's an entire duck to eat first.

He can cope with following the instructions on the back of the packet of Paxo. I think. And parboiling spuds.

The rest will be done tomorrow. Under my control if [strike]he knows what's good for him[/strike] I'm lucky.

Is there ever going to be a time when I feel like my kitchen is my own again?

  • Hi all

Have spent most of the day in the kitchen, while DSs were both in their bedrooms and DH was watching telly. I won't say anything now but if they cant be @@sed to help then I wont be doing this next year.

Been to see some friends for a quick drink then set out the buffet I prepared earlier. Feet up now, one present to wrap but everything else is pretty much ready.

I got a pretty gin glass from DS1s girlfriend and some minature gins from the girlfriend of DS2, they both know me so well! So I am enjoying those now.
  • I am done! Goodnight all.

My hair trimmed (just the back) by him
WMx3 and TDx3 done - there will not be any ironing as a result ;)
    Rosie walked
House cleaned as much as is going to happen before 28th (DH says he hoovered all through but it doesn't look like it in some rooms)
More lights put up by me, some of those put up by DH rearranged slightly so that they are actually visible from the house ;)
Bed made up for DS2 and DDiL2
Children prevented from setting themselves on fire at Candlelit Carols
    Evening meal cooked
    Mince pies baked
    Ham boiled
    Turkey prepped
    Red cabbage in SC Fayolle
Flylady Christmas cards now adorning kitchen windowsill :D
    Rosie played with
No presents wrapped yet  - I've got 20 minutes before I go out to Midnight Mass (I have to be there early) - might get a few done before I go :o or if not it will be a late night. I shall not do any for DS1's family or DD's family as the earliest we shall see them will be 27th, more probably 28th, and 29th respectively.

I shall sort out the study aka spare bedroom and make up the beds for DGS3+4 tomorrow while the turkey is cooking.

I wish you all the happiest possible Christmas xxx
  • Hi flyfriends x

Started the housework when I got up. Scullery, LR and bathroom gutted. DD cleaned her own room and my bedroom looks like steptoes back yard as usual!
Went to Mr M this afternoon and braved the food shop it was actually no busier than a Saturday afternoon so it didn't take long at all.

Just waiting for DD to fall asleep so I can let santa in to leave the presents ;):santa2:

I wish each and everyone of you a very merry Christmas and I hope santa is good to you

    :xmastree::xmastree:Merry Christmas everyone:xmastree::xmastree:

I'm sitting here with a dog looking at me longingly..think he wants an early christmas walk in the fog and cold. The living room looks like a bomb has hit it but I don't care as it's Christmas. I was up till 12ish this morning wrapping DH's presents but happy as I had found some traditional carols on the t.v. so was listening to that too. Can I just say that I do not like the new carols that they keep singing on t.v. at the moment i.e. Kings. What happened to good old fashioned ones that we knew as children..? Ok that's my Grinch speech over and done with ..lol

Today I am going to not worry about how my house looks or what DH is up to in the kitchen while cooking Christmas dinner. I am going to sit back, have a glass or two and raise it to loved and lost ones, and absent friends.

So to all on here, my flylady friends Merry Christmas to you all. And I hope you all enjoy your Christmas how you are going to spend it this year.
