Then went to Mr S for a couple of bits, put some petrol in the car and treated myself to a McD hot chocolateBack home by 9:00 a.m.!
Must admit I'm likely to have a nap in a bit but WM is on and there's not too much to do here as no-one is coming round. Will wrap Mum and Dad's pressies later and then I'm sorted.
Hope you all have a peaceful Christmas whatever you are doing xx"There's only one way of life and that's your own" - Levellers

OMG I don't know what to say. I have been reduced to tears here..
You are ALL very naughty. Thank you so much for my gorgeous glass hanging butterfly. I LOVE it.
I have the perfect place to hang it so that I see it everyday. Thank you once again from a very humble flylady.

Up late, as the office is kindly closed today. DH is at work until midday, and DD is still in bed. I am mid-bathroom s&s, then it is ironing and the kitchen s&s. Thanks to this thread, all the presents are done, which is a real achievement. I am that person who is usually still wrapping at 1am.
The drowned phone miraculously came back to life yesterday evening. DH now has an unexpected Christmas phone upgrade. In pink.
Narc0 - I have a lovely vision of you sitting at the back of the church, clicking away on your needles!
Hugs to all the poorlies. X0 -
Why, and how, does it get to this stage every single year without me being anywhere near ready? I still haven't done any other Christmas cards and no, Ionafan, it's not bad to have scoffed the chocolate that arrived with the Flycards - it kept me going for at least an hour (thank you, Narco - the sugar hit was much needed). I'm exhausted, with a long list of things that need doing, been to The Rnage, Morribunds, the vet and taken OH to the pharmacy this morning, wrapped one present, scoffed porridge, put the breadmaker on and I'm shattered already.
A Polish friend invited us to dinner tonight, apparently Christmas Eve dinner is a very special occasion, so we're out tonight and then hosting Christmas tomorrow.
I have a list. It's very long.Better is good enough.0 -
Morning :santa2:
Dad and I went to the village church's Carol Service last night - ahhhh lovelyAnd just what I needed after Dad had deliberately played Mum's favourite carol in the afternoon and set us both off. First time I've cried in front of Dad. He seemed bemused as he wept saying 'it was your Mum's favourite carol'. Yes I know it was. That's why I am now in bits. Why do that to yourself??? Bad enough if it came on the radio unexpectedly but to play it on purpose - am I missing something here? * shakes head and walks away to pull up big girl britches I am very pleased to report that said carol was NOT on the agenda at church. (Agenda is the wrong word, but I can't think what the right word is.)
And then a tub of ice cream was eaten whilst watching Men in Black 2. Said ice cream was supposed to be served with hot mince pies - but I'd already eaten the mince pies, so no harm done
Today I've: made my bed; put out recycling; fed the birds; done WM x 1 followed by laundry shuffle; put godson's card + cash through his letterbox; been to the Post Office (… twice! Shut both times even though sign says open 9-12 today); texted DS and asked him to purchase a green lolly/ tube of pastilles to wrap for his teddy, Sgigs. (Yes, DS is 26 next week. No, I don't care if anyone thinks I'm crazy. Sgigs has seen us through 20 years of ups and downs and all he ever asks for is a green lolly at Christmas. He is already sat on the sofa in DS's Santa hat waiting impatiently for tomorrow. And, just for the record, there is a present under the tree for Sgigs - from DS's step-mum :T You don't have to be crazy to be my friend - I'll train you :rotfl:)
Oh, and I've finished wrapping presents that DS asked me to wrap :T
I hope everyone is having a good day. Get well vibes to any poorlies. Hugs to all.

Not crazy, Roundtuit...although on second thoughts maybe we both are! Ted still gets his stocking hung up. All he wants each year is chocolate coins...if he asked for a green lolly, he would have to leave the house! His stocking was hand knitted by my mum, nearly 15 years ago....
Don't be hard on yourself, HB. You have done stacks today already. I'd come and give you a hand if only I could guarantee that the M5 would be free flowing.
Ironing done, gammon is in the sc (there it is again - the daily sc post - sorry!), and the wm is going again. I have no idea where I think I'm going to hang said washing....0 -

I love you, Fayolle xx
Post Office never did open this morning so I popped to Mr C in the next village - it was very busy, but glad I went :T Bought a tube of pastilles (green) and a chocolate lolly …. in the shape of a bear. PawfectGreen lolly request came about as the Christmas that DS turned 3 all he wanted for Christmas was a blue lolly . Believe me, it is much easier to source a green lolly that a blue lolly. The following year all DS wanted was a jack in a box. Sgigs arrived the summer after DS turned 5, saw the video with the blue lolly, and decided that he would like a green lolly. Sgigs being green. (His real name is Watermelon - as he has green stripes
but when he arrived he could only converse in sgigalese and became Sgigs over the years. DS's dad calls it 'the world at No. 6'
)
Eleventy million things I should be doing fly-wise, but I'm going to transfer info across to my 2019 calendar and stick the bin date sticker in the back of it

Deliberately playing the carol might be a choice to feel the pain under control, rather than be caught offguard by it later in the day (or to prevent what I've seen before, where songs have been 'banned' forever and every anniversary is marked by constant worrying that *the song* will be heard). And it gave mum so much joy, it's going to be reminding him of her happiness, rather than her illness and your loss.
It makes sense to me like that, anyway.
I thought I heard my Christmas present being wrapped upstairs earlier. It was apparently presents for the cats and 'did you want to tell me something you wanted?'.
Like he's going to go out now and get anything decent, although at least it wasn't tomorrow I'm finding out that he put more effort into the furry gits' Christmas than mine. Especially as they've already got a Christmas present of giblets in the morning.
I am going to drink more tea.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Thank you Jojo xx That does make sense. Dad may have been concerned that the first time he heard the carol was going to be at the service and he pre-empted that. I'm told that the firsts are the worsts.
Calendar hasn't been updated as a friend texted 'I'll be there in 10' so I put the kettle on insteadShe has just left and I'm now trying to work out whether cider o'clock comes a little earlier on Christmas Eve this year since I won't be driving anywhere
