My store was manic and opened at 8am!! When I got there at 8.30 it was like a rugby scrum. Loads of stuff and loads of fdetermined peole with bags and bags of gift sets!! Some people had trolleys completely full of gift sets and baskets too!! crazy.
Still I used points to buy what I wanted, although the till operator was very sniffy at my using points. I wanted to tell her she was lucky to have a job nut refrained!
Then off to M & S where all calendars/diaries are 10p! the till said my four came to £26!!! ha! but it was 40p and I found a fifty pence coin on the floor so result and no rugby scrum.
Thanks for the tip off!! op!0 -

Spent more time browsing the shelves and picking up stuff people just knocked to the floor then didn't bother picking up...wonder if they live like that at home?
I also spent time picking up stuff knocked to the floor by seemingly unconsiderate people! Heard a few smashes as I was walking round too coming across broken candles and a mug which had lost its handle! People had no consideration for stock getting damaged at all!
Don't know how the staff managed to keep their cool today at all, they all deserve a big pat on the back!0 -

As usual I did end up spending more than I had planned on doing but still less than in years gone by.
Got a few bits that I had got my eye on and a few extra bits that I hadn't with all the masses an masses of stock that had appeared!
Only thing I didn't manage to get that I'd hoped for was a Cath Kidston Advent Calendar. I'd seen a few in 50% but passed them by saying I would get one at 70% if still around. I'd hoped they would have had a few extra shipped in for 70% day but not to be sadly and that's the chance you take!
Did manage to get amongst other things, a Mens Ted Baker tin, Champneys pillow pack (love the pillow spray in it), Champneys travel treats, Small Ted Baker ladies set and some small Wax Lyrical Reed diffusers.
A few bits to breakdown into little ' goody bags' too like 'A Little Something' hand cream set & handbag size mini Charlie body sprays.
Got a Kendall & Kylie lips, keyring too, no idea who K&K are but it kinda reminded me of Lulu Guinness so for £1.50 I picked one up. Fairly sure whoever they are arent in Lulu's league though! :rotfl:0 -
First time I'd ever had to use a days holiday for sale day as like a lot of others, Boots completely threw me off track this year. Had it not been on a Friday with the added bonus of a long weekend I probably wouldn't have bothered!0

I know of several people that cut back on spending on Christmas presents or only give to immediate family - children, grandchildren, partner etc.
My work had toiletries gift sets which didn't sell as well as Christmas 2017.
I wonder has the gift set been a victim of the spending gifts cutbacks? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Absolutely no No7 to be seen at all today, very similar scenario last year too with none to be had then either. Don't think I've really seen any at 50% come to think of it either!
Maybe the stock levels on No7 is one thing they've managed to get right due to smaller profit margins perhaps? Still would have thought there's a decent whack on it though!0 -

I think people just end up inundated with smellies and it can often be seen as a 'boring present' nowadays!
I largely get for myself come 70% day with just the odd small stocking filler for others and get a few small things to break down to make into smaller gifts!
Toiletries can be a bit of a risky present for some I feel as you don't always know if they have allergies or stick to a particular brand. People are also becoming more ethically aware too and don't necessarily want the mass packaged items. Vegans can't use a lot of the stuff either.
Lush has done so well recently with these things in mind and the 'fun factor' thrown in too.0 -
I noticed a lot of soap and glory and other gift sets moved to other places and big signs for valentines day .0
