I was 4th in line at my local store of Dewsbury, with the locals who always go there each year. having a laugh before doors at 8.30am!
Then we looked just before doors and the queue was MASSIVE!
When doors were being opened, they started to push! Rude, as that usually never happens there.

It was carnage, and lots of pushing, whereas in previous years there were polite and friendly people.

Anyhow, I got everything I wanted, a friend wanted and my Mum wanted. Very happy with my lot :)

In my small local store I got some nice no7, ted baker and the sanctuary candles, went for a look in the Trafford centre and it was madness, but then again, quieter than last year. Some people with a trolley full of those unpleasant lip shaped handbags?! Assuming for resale. But generally I was unimpressed with the large store, so much more choice in the smaller one and no silly queues. I popped into Debenhams after and got far more bargains there- Yankee candles £2.40 and a Hatchimals bag for my daughter £3.

Looks like the expensive make up sets, zoella things, kylie sets and little mix palettes weren’t popular at all- loads and loads of them and most bring passed over.
  • Same old stuff left in Rugby. Got a few bits tho!

That story is absolutely sickening :( I definitely made the right decision to quit my sale-going. The way the reporter refers to "bargains" throughout! Yeah cos £6 for a set that's really worth about a fiver but the price tag says £20 is such a bargain!!

Does make you wonder how Boots can get stock levels so massively wrong year on year to have so much left this long after Christmas.
I guess the 70% sale is so successful though that they buy in enough to give them a post Christmas sales boost come 70% day. After all they're still prob making a decent profit on it and there would be a lot of disappointed customers if there was nothing left with the tradition that 70% day has become.

Agreed, carp by any other name would be just as rubbish. The anecdote in the article about family presents being sorted for the year shows gift-giving for the sake of it.

Disgusting over consumer consumption :( don't tell me all that is for families, I have a big family and we do not give that much at Christmas. There should be a rule of max one net basket per person and no trolleys.

I was out and about so did stop at my local, much quieter than usual and somehow by accident I ended up first in store  got a couple of little bits I'd been pondering but nothing much, and the item I got at 50% was oos so glad I bought that when I did.

Spent more time browsing the shelves and picking up stuff people just knocked to the floor then didn't bother picking up...wonder if they live like that at home?
