Do i Have to Pay Child Maintenance
Comments

Wow ! I am amazed this is possible.
I have come across a couple who had triplets following a similar arrangement ! Imagine the expense !Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20 -
It's actually CMS - Child Maintenance Service. That something to think about thats for sure,
it is not right really that CSA allows this as it is not a planned baby over a relationship ..
You can't do a new claim for CSA now.
Who is the letter from?
An official organisation or the parents?
If the parents have referred to CSA in a letter, it would lead me to think that maybe they are trying it on and haven't actually done anything about child maintenance.
If it's not an official letter and the parents haven't mentioned CSA specifically, then they may be serious about pursuing you for maintenance.
Then it doesn't sound like you could afford to have full custody of the child.there is so many people out there doing the same thing privately .
what happens with money side of things ? now i am afraid to own a house or car just in case i cant pay every week .. i am not rich what i have is enough for me by the time i pay rent, utilities , food, and all the other small things0 -
I would advocate insisting upon DNA testing if this is in fact a serious thread.0

Affordability, quite rightly, isn't taken into account when deciding residency of a child.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Unfortunately, the roll-eyes smiley isn't available anymore.
Why would someone who has given his sperm to another couple to enable them to have a baby and had nothing to do with the child for over a year want full custody?
Really?0 -

There are legal processes and protections in place but only where the procedure is covered by the The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008 - by coming to a private arrangement, outside the scope of the Act, you are in the same position as any other unmarried father and can be asked to support your child.0 -
when i donated i didnt do it with any expectation , i did it with a good heart to enable them to have a family ..
they are split up now and single mother is actually contacted CSA and i received a letter from them saying how much to pay and asking me for proof of income etc .0 -

CSA hasn't existed for a few years. Does it say CSA on the letterhead? Were any government booklets enclosed (there is usually a booklet about what to do if you disagree with the decision). Could the mother have mocked up a CSA letterhead? Have you checked the address on the letter?
There are photo sites where you can upload the letter (all confidential information covered), if you want some of the more knowledgeable posters to have a look and comment. If it says CSA, though, I would be very wary.
Or, bearing in mind that the school holidays have started and the OP is a newbie who has joined specifically to ask this, is it a troll post?0 -
Whether it's real or not, if it's a scenario that could in fact happen then someone reading this might still find it helpful. I certainly didn't know this sort of thing could happen, but like other posters have said, it's not something you really think about! dominicx has been shafted, by the look of things..taking a self-enforced break from this forum due to the persistent and ongoing troll problem, and the systematic abuse of the report button system in order to get people/usernames banned0
