  • If you donated sperm to them through a licensed clinic, then you have no obligations, financial or legal to the child. If your help was of the unofficial kind, then you are potentially liable for maintenance.

  • it was done privately , so there is no way i can challenge this with CSA ?

    No.

This is the risk you take "doing it" privately.

If they are playing silly games like this, then I would write to the mother stating that if they are demanding child maintenance even though you were just a sperm donor, you will be seekeing 50% to 100% custody of the child. That should put the wind in their sails...
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • The situation is complicated - for example, if the couple were in a civil partnership or marriage at the time they could have put both their names on the birth certificate, which would change things.

You really need to speak to a solicitor rather than the internet about this.

  • thank you so much for the advice ,
do you think there is a chance for 100% of custody ? what sort of things would help ?

That may be the best way to tackle this character's demands.

Whew! I see where the phrase "No good deed goes unpunished" comes from:eek:

Do you know why they are doing this? Have you been and talked to them about it personally?
  • I think they mean as parent of the child you could seek to be shared parents, but if you put this to them it would make them think twice, especially if they wanted to be sole parents themselves.

But if you did want to be a parent of the child there’s no reason why you couldn’t really

    Lordy!
I had no idea about this (well, being a pensioner it's not something I'd need to know :D) but what a minefield for someone who hasn't done any research.

I could be wrong but I think the suggestion by pinkshoes of applying for custody wasn't totally serious.
  • That something to think about thats for sure,
it is not right really that CSA allows this as it is not a planned baby over a relationship ..

there is so many people out there doing the same thing privately .

what happens with money side of things ? now i am afraid to own a house or car just in case i cant pay every week .. i am not rich what i have is enough for me by the time i pay rent, utilities , food, and all the other small things

DId you have any lind of written agreement that you were only donating?
Have this couple split up so that the one asking for the money needs it?
Only the first is important really, the second is just to moitvation.
