I get into work before my boss and bring it up why he asked me to come in early. It makes no sense.0

After myriad posts from you on the subject it's pretty clear that his decision makes no sense to you, though it clearly makes sense to your boss and the majority of those who have replied.
Out of interest, what time did you actually arrive at work this morning and how much later was your boss?0 -
Still here. He won’t ley me go home early even though the other staff have been allowed to go home. I went to work 30 mins earlier.0

Presumably as they came into work earlier than you?0 -
Unfortunately he took you at your word that you wouldn't come in early. So it looks like you are going home at 4.
He probably came in after you because he had decided that since you weren't going to 'play' then he's not getting away early BECAUSE OF YOU.

Probably because, unlike the rest of the staff, you have been unhelpful and obstructive so he is going to make you work your full hours, though that still means that you will be leaving 30 minutes earlier than normal.0 -
I wonder if OP will report him for leaving early if he leaves the same time as OP?, considering he came in later.
Can't wait for the next instalment.0 -

They seem like the type from what they've posted so far.0 -

Nothing to suggest a manager needs to be at work the same length of time as his or her staff0
