On the other hand, it could be that your boss is being a tight a**e, by closing up early and asking you to make up the hours. If he wants to close early, he should just let everyone go home. Where's their Christmas spirit.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

Think many people forget employment isn’t a right; it’s a voluntary arrangement. One which can be ended very quickly.
  • It’s not a voluntary arrangement, it’s a contract between two people.

You cant force them to hire you, nor can you force them to keep you employed. It is a voluntary arrangement - your opinion doesn't change that.

Your contract isn't worth anything when they want to get rid of you.

    Let's put it this way.

Your manager now scrutinises every piece of work you do, any mistake and you go on disciplinary, you'll be gone (legally correctly) with-in the month. You have no reference.

    What do you do then?.....

And for the first 2 years, you can be dismissed and no reason needs to be given.

And after that it’s imcrebly easy to manage someone out.
  • So, OP what happened this morning? What time did you go in?

Are you on the internet now at work, and is that allowed? Or are you on a break, posting here?
