On the other hand, it could be that your boss is being a tight a**e, by closing up early and asking you to make up the hours. If he wants to close early, he should just let everyone go home. You cant force them to hire you, nor can you force them to keep you employed. It is a voluntary arrangement - your opinion doesn't change that.

Your manager now scrutinises every piece of work you do, any mistake and you go on disciplinary, you'll be gone (legally correctly) with-in the month. You have no reference.
