  • Having a lovely lazy weekend :D ds & dil are on holiday so it's just me and dh...we've spent the morning watching rubbish on the TV while laying in bed and will probably go for a walk to the local pub later to clear the cobwebs and have a quick drink ;) I like lazy Saturdays
We've spent barely anything this week on groceries, we've used what is already in the house - I'll check the figures later ;)
Lots of work to do job wise so a busy few weeks ahead...at least I won't be spending! :rotfl:
  • It's been an interesting couple of days and I now have a large expense to meet earlier than expected so I think it may put me back a bit on my target...it's not a problem though, I'm very happy to do it and I'm still confident I'll be mf by my original target date of 22nd Dec :D

I'm finally nearing the end of a year long trauma which is a real relief and looking forward to ending the year on a massive high - next year will be a year of total freedom financially and I'm making very few plans so that I can just sit back and enjoy it! ;)

I'm still painting doors at the moment so will hopefully get another 2 completed this week- we've only got 4 left to do so by the end of next week I should finally have the house almost done :D I need to just get myself sorted out and then I'll be Mrs achievement :rotfl:
  • I've had a really good look at the budgets and I'm definitely not going to clear the mortgage this year :( I could if I was prepared to carry a cc balance but I really don't want to do that.

I'm looking at clearing it by the end of January now, however annoying that is it does mean that I'll have a zero balance on the cc and no mortgage by 22nd January 2020 so not too bad considering the unexpected expenditure I have had previously and the large expense I have had recently that I wasn't expecting yet ;)

We are going to do our best to spend the bare minimum over the next two months so that we can whack the mortgage down as much as we can...it's under 4k now so it's tantalising close - in all honesty I have struggled with the decision not to just get rid of it and put stuff on the cc but financially it doesn't make sense to pay interest when I don't have to :naughty: shockingly grown up of me!! :rotfl: let's hope this new found financial maturity lasts!! ;)

Unless you can take advantage of any 0% purchase CCs?

  • Hadn't thought of that green!! Think I will have a mooch... thank you! :D
  • Greent...you are a genius!!! _party_:beer:

Applied and ben accepted!!! The mortgage will be gone in December :j:j:j

Mega happy and interest free on the next 24 months (although it will be gone at the end of January!!) I feel a whole lot better!! :D
  • It's a very good day!!! :j
I've just sorted the money and worked out that I will be mortgage free on 21st November!!! :j:j:j
It's going to be tight over the next 2 weeks but infinitely doable:beer:
Its incredible really - I genuinely didn’t think we could clear it this soon so being able to do so is immense :D
Although I'll be carrying a cc balance, it will be interest free and paid off by the end of January so I'm okay with that ;)
Having the targets this year and being accountable on here has helped immensely- next year I have targets to meet but nowhere to record my progress as they don't fit in on any of the boards which is a bit sad :o I've been on the MFW boards for long enough for it to feel like home!! ;)

    So....14 days to go!!! :j

I've been mortgage free for almost 20 years & I wish this site had been around then, it doesn't mean that you don't have to stay focused, that is why I read so much on here. So here or maybe pensions - early retirement wanabees but don't let loose the reins!
